  2. Even though younger generations in China are very confident and optimistic about China, I think they should still have an experience in the West, might it be studying or just visiting. Seeing the West from a Chinese perspective is beneficial because it allows you to see advantages and shortcomings of both places, this is what happened to myself, I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to study and live in the West, it made me appreciate China a lot more especially thanks to all the lies and demonization from the Western media/governments, a great patriotic education.

  3. There is still this sentiment from some within China that perhaps China should continue Deng's ''Hide your strength, bide your time (or keep a low profile)” diplomatic policy. Problem is that China can no longer hide its industrial capabilities and its strength in tech advancements, and since the US is determined to undermine China's economic progress, China might as well showcase what it is really capable of now and into the future. America should focus on improving its competitiveness instead of trying to politicize everything China related (banning TikTok, semiconductors bans), because in doing so, it undermines its neoliberal capitalistic values such as free market, free trade, respecting private property rights and so on, as we can see, when it comes to China, all these can be thrown out of the window, and meanwhile, China is open for cooperation and fair competition.

  4. This is why whenever I hear Americans/Westerners say they love the Chinese people but not the Chinese government, I laugh. This neocon talking point falls flat in reality, because if they truly cared about/supported the Chinese people, they would also support the Chinese government which most Chinese people approve of and trust. The approval and trust came from real term benefits and improvements that's been taking place in their daily lives, that their opinions and concerns are listened to and addressed.

''Do as I say not as I do'', the US lectures other countries on the importance of sovereignty and democracy when itself routinely violates the sovereignty and democracy of other countries. It claims to care about the democracy of Taiwan while disregards the fact that most in Taiwan do not support separatism; it claims to care about the welfare of the people there while tries its best to push them towards conflict, war and destruction. Yes, being a ''friend'' of America is fatal, I hope the people of Taiwan realise this before it is too late.

  7. The Western economical and political models are failing, that is where the fundamental problems of the US/West lie. China's government does not change but its policies are constantly improving adapting to changes, whereas US/Western governments change (every 4, 5 years) but its policies (domestic and foreign) hardly ever change. The US/West has clearly failed to look after its own population instead spending too much money on foreign interventions and wars, hoping to convert other nations to be like them, but ask this question, why would the others want to adopt systems and policies that have proven NOT to be working well (for the people).

I have been saying this for a long time, it comes to a point in the lives of overseas Chinese/Chinese Americans or just anyone with Chinese heritage who is living in the West, when they are in fear of their basic safety, when they are disrespected and discriminated in their schools and workplaces on a daily basis because of this Red Scare witch hunt that's been happening in America/West, they will seriously be thinking about moving back to China where they at least feel safe. But there is nothing surprising about the level of Sinophobia in America, it happened before and is happening again.

  11. If France is smart, it should jump off the sinking Anglo American ship and join the new multipolar prosperity. After all, France experienced plenty enough back-stabbings from its so called Anglo American allies. And just reflect how Macron was received in China in contrast to how Blinken was... China is kinda clever I have to say to have perhaps planted a seed of division between France and the Anglos, it really would be in France's better interests.

  12. It just goes to show how detached the US/Western governments are with the reality on the ground, that decoupling with China is just a wishful thinking. China remains a very attractive place for foreign investments hence more have come. What the US/West should be focusing on is to improve its own competitiveness instead trying to cripple China in the short term, it will only make China become less reliant on Western tech, which will hurt the Western economy even more.

It is quite sad and shocking to hear your 76 year old mother needed a gun in order to feel safe, as a Chinese I found the idea of having to possess a gun to feel safe utterly incomprehensible and frankly insane, it is quite clear that there is something very wrong in the American society today that really needed to be addressed and changed, I was just talking to my husband who is an European about the fact that I, a Chinese, was never brought up to hate the West or America, even though my grandfather fought in the Korean war against the West and I of course am very proud of what they did for us so we Chinese could live in a peaceful and prosperous China today, but despite that, Chinese people have always had healthy admiration and respect to the West and the US, however more and more, Americans are brought up to hate China and/or Chinese people, thanks to their politicians and media, and more and more Chinese are developing dislike or hate towards America as well, this has to stop! This does no good to anyone and produce no benefits to any country, I really wish China and the US could just work together it will be a win win for both countries and win for the whole world too.

The most basic human right is the right to life, right to (nutritious) food, (warm) shelter, basic clothing, to be free from abject poverty, then you can talk about ''democracy'' (preferably not the US style democracy), equality and your Western so called human rights. You clearly speak from a point of view of a developed nation where most of your people have not been facing these problems (mentioned above). Also, did you know (the New) China had been heavily sanctioned by the US/West for many years and prior to that China suffered a century of Western aggression/colonization. And this was largely the reason why China has been poor, the same reason many other developing nations are poor.

  32.  @joesalazar770  Hold on a second, the US didn't "give" (out of charitable heart) China so much in return for cheap labour, it INVESTED in China for its own material and monetary gains (taking advantage of the competitive and quality Chinese labour). And China's, specifically Deng's reform and opening up economic policy allowed this to happen at a time when the US seeked China's help in defeating Russia in the cold war. I just hate when you people claim this "America built China" nonsense, this idea is racist as far as I am concerned. And it was your corrupt corporations controlled politicians deindustrialised America, not the other way round, and that is what was and still is wrong with your country, don't blame China for it. Again, I stress, it was China's own economic policy put China where it is, not the US.

  34.  @billyehh  What does that mean? It means China is transitioning from relying on Western export markets (partly because the US/West is in recession) to internal market consumption and increased trade with non Western countries, plus infrastructure projects with the Global South.

  35.  @C1K450  I guess you assume these problems (as you mentioned) are caused by their governments entirely (such as corruption). I would not generalise like that as you did. I blame the long period of Western exploitations/lack of real investments and possibly lack of education/modernization in some of these countries. No I don't have the answer, but I think most leaders of these countries are a lot wiser and a lot less corrupt than you think. Btw, China is not just helping Africa with essential infrastructures, which on the long run benefit their economic developments, China is bringing its expertise as well to help with a more sustainable development. And btw a lot of the instabilities and conflicts there have been stirred up by the West.

I asked an open question too. I have neither projected ''a certain reality'' (as you say) nor said any of the things you've suggested/implicated in your first reply. You are the one who ''depicted a certain reality'', not me, who is the one lacks nuance here? Maybe you need to stop interpreting things out of what I have NEVER said?

Under the leadership of Mao, the Chinese successfully fought off multiple wars/aggressions from US/Western imperialists which provided much needed peace and stability for future economic development; Chinese scientists worked tirelessly to develop China's early nuclear deterrents; great efforts were made to rebuild (re-industrialise) the country from the destructions of WW2/Japanese invasions/civil wars and to bring people (from the countryside) out of poverty caused by capitalists/Western imperialists exploitations (thanks to Mao's land reforms); women were liberated and encouraged to join the workforce and politics under Mao's progressive policy. There are so many more great achievements that can be talked about between 1950 - 1980, I am proud of the fact that my grandparents and my parents contributed a great deal during that period of time. It goes without saying what had been achieved prior to 1980 holds equal importance if not far more in the success of China today.

Many Chinese factories are already fully automated (one of the points professor Yuan Xin has made in his article, which I didn't include here). Plus younger generation would not want to work in manufacturing anymore. And yes, I also agree that a smaller population would not be a bad thing, as more resources could be shared per capita.

Part of the EU plus UK is in recession but investments to China from Europe are up, the West is relying on value consumer goods from China more than ever before due to inflation crisis.

There is only ONE China, the island province of Taiwan belongs to China according to Republic of China's constitution. As it stands for now, the People's Republic of China is recognised by majority UN member countries as the sole legitimate representative of the ONE China. Which means Taiwan belongs to the PRC, whether the people there agree with this or not. And finally, the PRC government has always said that the ROC can retain everything it has, its (provincial) government, political system, economic system and even its army, as long as it does not attempt to become independent and potentially being recognised as an independent country by the UN member countries. To secede from China violates ROC's own constitution as well as PRC's, which is what the current Taiwan government is trying to do. And the PRC is not going to allow it. Both ROC and PRC belong to the same ONE China.

First, you consider videos/perspectives on this channel lack nuance, and portraying China in a ''fantasized'' way. But being objectively positive about China based on facts are NOT fantasizing China, you would only think that because you are conditioned to think about China this way, due to the overwhelmingly negative coverage of China (a lot of lies and misinformation too) from your mainstream media, and from many anti China channels here on YouTube. No, China is not perfect (no country is), China has its issues, some are the same ones as the West faces. The difference is that this channel and many other channels like this one provide you a perspective from Westerners who have (had) traveled, done business, lived/are still living in China, the perspective that is rarely presented in Western media, and guess what, some of their experiences are extremely positive and they are not afraid to speak about it. But does it mean they like everything about China, of course not, anyone with half of a brain knows this. Same as my comment, it is my own perspective, you might not agree, you might consider it lacks nuance, but it is based on my own experience, if you don't like it, it is your problem. Anyway, advice to you for the future is to offer arguments that can be substantialized with facts rather than slapping an emotional response, like ''oh China is all good like an angel'' which I have never said in the first place. No, China is not without any problem, the West is not all doom and gloom, but China is doing better than the West on many respects that the West can learn a lot from China. Finally, if you want to learn the real China, try remove your bias and preconception and best yet, go to China and see it for yourself.
