How is saying "I didn't need to do this" in regards to declaring a national emergency for something he's been insisting is incredibly important to our security proof of conviction? Here's the answer: it isn't. Trump doesn't want the wall. He signed an executive order on day 5 and had two years of his party controlling every branch of government and yet we don't have a wall. If a border wall is so important to our safety, he wouldn't need to shut down the government after the midterm elections to get the money for it, would he? Otherwise, we'd have more than 55 miles of fencing by now. So no, Trump doesn't want the wall. He only pretends to want it because that got him positive reactions from the campaign rallies.

But regarding the rest of your point, I'm not going to defend socialism as a policy because there are problems with every economic system. However, the problem with the VA isn't socialism. Bad management happens just as easily under a capitalist system if you let it.
