He clearly doesn't care about tackling the regime in any meaningful way when the country continues to build and test weapons and, oh yeah, tortures prisoners. Whatever reason China has for supporting North Korea, it can't be enough. China is getting concerned over the stability of North Korea's government. You know the saying "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"? The trade war with China is the vinegar. And to be clear, diplomacy isn't what Trump is doing. Diplomacy should be getting all parties involved to benefit as equally as possible. Diplomacy is not what Trump is doing. I know this because there is no benefit I've found that we would get out of this. Try again.

Robert Lighthizer said that the value of the tariffs was based on estimates of the economic damage caused by alleged IP theft and foreign-ownership restrictions. The estimates range between $225 billion and $600 billion. If the goal is to get China to pay the U.S. back for damages, tariffs are not the solution because what'll end up happening is that China will take its money elsewhere (they've been investing very heavily in Africa recently, for example).
