But for the sake of this civil discussion, let's stick with the New Covenant. Under the New Covenant, Christians are offered the opportunity to achieve salvation in return for exercising faith in Christ. So let's see the instructions he gave his disciples for achieving eternal life: - Love God and your fellow man (Luke 10:25-28) - Follow the commandments . . . also, give away all of your possessions and abandon your families (Luke 18:18-30) - Hate yourself and everyone in your family, which directly contradicts loving your neighbor, and also give up on everything (Luke 14:26-33) - Eat the flesh of the Son of Man (Jesus) and drink his blood (John 6:53-54) - Become like little children using a method that doesn't get explained (Matthew 18:2-3) - Become born again of the water and the Spirit using a method that doesn't get explained (John 3:3-8) - Become more righteous than the Pharisees, who followed 613 commandments religiously (Matthew 5:17-20) - Believe in Jesus Christ (John 3:16) So have fun with your Bible literacy, Saint Aloysius. It's just going to be another school subject no one will ever use.
