Isn't Trump the one floating the idea of military intervention in Venezuela?

@danieltew3835 I would absolutely not count on Trump to get us from "under the thumb of banksters"

Styx in 2018: "Democrats are such losers that their precious Blue Wave couldn't take the Senate from the Republicans." Styx in 2019: "Senate Republicans don't represent us!"

@matsv201 There was also the Gulf War under Bush Sr., and under Reagan we had the Iran Contra scandal and that time we fought the Soviets by arming the future Taliban. As for WWII, the U.S. began both World Wars wanting to not be involved. It was only after one side of the conflict posed a direct threat to the United States that we got involved both times.

@gimlisonofgloin8981 Excuse me? Which part of that wasn't true? The part where the U.S. didn't enter either World War until it was attacked? The part where the Gulf War happened under Bush Sr.? The part where the Soviets invaded Afghanistan throughout the entirety of the Reagan administration and we fought back by arming the mujahideen that would eventually become the Taliban? Or are you just saying that because you can't be bothered to open a history book so you resort to trolling?

@45calibermedic When I said the U.S. didn't want to be involved at first, I meant in the sense of military participation. Yes, FDR sided with the Allies before we officially entered the war, but as the article states: "[FDR] was not free to make policy unilaterally; he still had to contend with isolationists in Congress."

@dinstar-as3228 Like your side is so innocent. - Operation Ajax - Operation Condor - Operation Cyclone - Iran Contra - Supporting a coup against democratically elected Guatemalan president Jacobo Árbenz and replacing him with dictator Carlos Castillo Armas - Supporting a coup against democratically elected Chilean president Salvador Allende and replacing him with dictator Augusto Pinochet - And coming soon, "5,000 Troops in Colombia"

A Sojourner There are so many things wrong with this, I'm convinced Dinesh D'Souza wrote it. - If you're anti-war, then your Dear Leader seems to only gets the memo when it makes him look good. https://theintercept.com/2017/03/26/trumps-war-on-terror-has-quickly-become-as-barbaric-and-savage-as-he-promised/ - I haven't heard of anyone supporting abortions THAT late, but unless you support comprehensive sex education and easier access to birth control, unwanted pregnancies will happen. - Remember when Trump made that offer to Democrats for DACA protections in exchange for wall funding? Read Pelosi's statement on it. Is amnesty on there? https://www.speaker.gov/newsroom/11919/ - One of my dad's friends works in Homeland Security. According to him, screenings for ICE agents are so lax that people with actual criminal convictions can just walk in and get a job. I'm sure if you made the screenings more thorough, the Democrats would support it. - Last time I checked, that proposed 70% tax rate is on income about $10 million. Most people don't make $10 million in income. - (groan) Yes, the Democratic Party used to be more in favor of the Klan, but the key phrase is "used to." There was a paradigm shift in the 20th century and now David Duke is a Trump supporter.

@barahng There'd be less of an issue with Trump pulling the troops out if he gave the slightest indication of having any idea what would happen once they left. But when Trump says ISIS is defeated and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats says ISIS will continue to be a threat to the United States, I doubt that's the case. Granted, ISIS can be fought without troops, but I haven't read about Trump considering that strategy since he ordered the withdrawal of U.S. troops.
1
@barahng "civilians feeding, clothing, and sheltering ISIS in their homes" "Do you think when ISIS takes over an area, they let people who are opposed to them live?" So ISIS forces civilians to support them or else they get executed?

Max Raider Trump ain't helping. https://theintercept.com/2017/03/26/trumps-war-on-terror-has-quickly-become-as-barbaric-and-savage-as-he-promised/

200% SMUG Under most circumstances, it would be a good thing. But all of the recommendations were against withdrawing the troops, especially if there isn’t any plan for what we do beyond that. Yes, it is impossible to predict what will happen in the future, but one should at least have the sense to account for the more probable outcomes.

@rlionheart8657 Does that mean Trump is still a Democrat? Because he contradicts himself constantly. https://factsvstrump.com/a-comprehensive-list-of-trump-contradictions/ https://globalnews.ca/news/3976740/trump-contradicted-first-year/

@86BarbOmega You remember that story from a few years about how screenwriter Craig Mazin described Ted Cruz, who was his college roommate? He said "Ted Cruz is a nightmare of a human being. I have plenty of problems with his politics, but truthfully his personality is so awful that 99 percent of why I hate him is just his personality. If he agreed with me on every issue, I would hate him only one percent less." That's how I am with Trump. He doesn't get points for switching parties five times because even if I agreed with him on every issue, I would still think of him the way Craig Mazin thinks of Ted Cruz.

It's one thing to bring the troops home, and another to do it when the intelligence agencies say the threat being fought is still palpable. Sure, it's possible the intelligence agencies are wrong and are merely saying the threat of ISIS still exists in order to justify continued military presence. If that's the case, prove them wrong first and THEN bring the troops home. Or, alternatively, find some method of fighting ISIS that doesn't require keeping the troops there.

@heraldlepps2436 Will you guys please stop acting like some traits are exclusive to one political party?
1
@Helmholtz How in denial do you have to be to think that? It would be one thing for a president to portray himself as anti-war, but that's the problem with speaking in absolutes, isn't it? If Trump is so anti-war, why make John "5,000 troops in Colombia" Bolton national security adviser? Why authorize missile strikes in Syria if he's so against intervening?
1
podycheck That's really all you have?
1
podycheck Why are you saying this to me? PasswordBosco is the guy who said that about blue voters
1
Steve Slade If you can do it in a way that ensures as few civilian casualties as possible, fine.

@BoozyBeggar "The other thing with the terrorists is you have to take out their families, when you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families." That's Donald Trump in 2015 advocating a war crime. Last time I checked, Trump hasn't been a Democrat for years.

@slowburn678 Prove it wrong and maybe I will
1
@slowburn678 Remember that 1998 interview Trump gave where he said if he ran for president, he'd run as a Republican because Republican voters are so stupid? According to Snopes, he never actually said that. So I'm not entirely sure how you get that impression. Here's one of the sources they use: https://youtu.be/77P6fxa2KOs?t=101
