It applies to "concealment, removal or mutilation generally" of official U.S. records and/or documents. What Pelosi shredded was a copy of the President's speech, similar to copies provided to the Vice President, members of Congress and copies also emailed out to the media. Shredding the original speech would be illegal, but that's not what she did. On the other hand, Trump absolutely did break the law.

I wasn't making a point about whether he should have diverted money for the border wall or not. I was making a point that when he's diverting money from the military for a wall that can be easily scaled and knocked down by wind, it probably won't be a surprise when people in the military turn out not to like him. 3. The idea that transgender troops are getting taxpayer funded reassignment surgery is unrealistic. Even if it wasn't, the medical costs allocated to transgender troops is roughly 0.02% of the Defense Department budget.

The Republicans, therefore, could've easily used the Democrats' insistence on Senate witnesses as a means to question Hunter Biden. All they'd have to do is prove that Trump was right to investigate him and his father. But they couldn't even do that right. Seriously, every single impeachment trial prior to this has had witnesses. Even if it changes nothing about the outcome and only provides the appearance of a fair trial, wouldn't it be an even bigger win for the Republicans if they obliged the Democrats' requests and still won the trial?
