Israel isn't using its wall for border security

@davidreruk3924 I've been to the Western Wall three times. They aren't and it's not.

@vulkanofnocturne I'll have to politely decline your offer, but I'll let my rabbi know you said hi.
1
@simonphoenix5768 Well, people go there to pray and put written messages in the cracks between the bricks.

@sirmikalus9923 Pole vault practice, I guess

@sirmikalus9923 "You don't know what you're talking about, guy who has seen the wall three times." And what, pray tell, makes you the expert? EDIT: Okay, so I looked it up. Turns out you weren't talking about the Western Wall. What you're all referring to is a border FENCE covering 150 miles of open terrain that's significantly easier to guard than the mountainous 2,000 mile US-Mexico border.
1
@sirmikalus9923 No, I don't. I've commented on videos about Kavanaugh and that gun law in Maryland.

marco polo Is this your way of telling me Styx is a liberal?

@sirmikalus9923 You mean the West Bank barrier? You realize that was made for an entirely different purpose from the Mexico border wall, right? It was made to prevent suicide bombers, not immigrants. Also, there are other factors at play. Around 2004, after a Palestinian uprising, Hamas put a moratorium on suicide bombings. IDF still operates on the other side of the West Bank barrier, carrying out nightly raids. Israel also benefits from cooperation with the Palestinian Authority. Even with that, it's far from 99.9% effective as Trump would claim. Up to 60,000 Palestinians without work permits sneak across the barrier and there continue to be occasional terrorist attacks by Palestinians. And if Israel does catch an illegal worker, they just send them back.

Rolie O'Leary I wasn't lying. It's just that there's a Western Wall, a border fence, and a barrier with the West Bank, so it was kind of difficult to tell which one was being referenced. But anyway, given Israel's geography, a fence or barrier is almost unnecessary. It's easier to protect your border when there's only 150 miles of it covering open terrain that makes spotting people easier, compared to a mountainous 2,000 mile-long border.

Rich S Okay...I have been to Israel three times, but never to the West Bank barrier or to the border fence you seem to love so much. I was not aware of the existence of either. But calling me a stupid, ignorant, retarded liar will not get me on your side, even if you think that means I would make a perfect Trump supporter. And no, I don't live in my mom's basement. My room is on the second floor. Also, when the president "realizes" that some of the terrain in the border region isn't "conducive" to a border wall, does it make a difference how much of it is mountainous? https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/trump-discovered-wall-not-run-entire-border-article-1.3750515

Rich S 60,000 is about 0.27% of 22,000,000. Why?

I fail to see what point he's making with this. If he can't have funding for the wall that he said Mexico was going to provide, he'll shut down the government like it was one of his casinos?
1
@sirmikalus9923 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall him campaigning on making Mexico pay for the border wall. So if he has to shut down the government to get funding, isn't he breaking one of his biggest campaign promises?
1
@Mangetsallmans So he lied?
1
@sirmikalus9923 Do you understand how hyperbole works? Hyperbole is saying "I am the greatest president who has ever existed and will ever exist," not "We're going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it."
1
@sirmikalus9923 I've said it before and I'll say it again: do you want to call me stupid or prove how you're right? Hyperbole is defined as making exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. The first statement is definitely arrogance and pride, but it is still a hyperbole. If saying "We're going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it" is a claim that wasn't meant to be taken literally (which would frankly be among the cheapest cop outs in history), then the people who voted for him must have been extremely gullible.
1
I thought Trump said he was going to make Mexico pay for the wall.
1
@usa320 They will if you completely ignore all the logistics. Nothing in the USMCA compels Mexico to pay for the wall barely anything in it would divert funds from Mexico to the United States. Also, according to the Congressional Budget Office, most trade agreements lead to lower federal revenue from tariffs.

Prepare to be disappointed
