StuntpillootStef....and Chunkboi. I hate to be redundant... but these chats have become exhausting. And I'm not one to copy-paste previous replies to questions/topics. If you're curious about what I think matters, I have an original comment in this section. I made a very long list of the reasons I think Trump's doing a great job. I discuss domestic and global issues. I point out why I think the country's doing excellent in the areas that matter. Supported by some statistics and indicators. You're welcome to join that discussion. (please read the entire section; there's others who made the exact same arguments you've made) Lastly, I congratulate you both for not resorting to insults or ad-hominem attacks. Your approach is rare in a Seth Meyer's anti-Trump propaganda vid. This is hostile territory for anyone who supports Trump's great work thus-far and/or looks at the big picture and long term.

R Camacho, Boondoggle, lich109, mike racicot, and others in this section: Good points all around. I'm simply looking at the big picture. I'm also looking at the many great results from the summit. It's a 'glass half full' view of things. Trump took a great first step to repair the degradation of US/Russia relations due to Obama and Hillary's policies. I know it's hard for some to admit, but Trump has made some excellent decisions and has many major accomplishments in foreign policy. In less than 2 years. It appears many are unable/unwilling to admit there were great results from the Putin meeting (see my original comment). Many have clearly not watched the full press conference to get full context to each topic. The fake comedy shows are gleefully cherry picking a few clips and focusing on the few negatives (glass half empty). Worse, their propaganda just feeds the ignorance and enables those with TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). Trump makes mistakes. And he misspeaks. A great leader admits his mistakes, which he's done. And his party legitimately called him out on a few comments. But it's illogical to ignore the great results and overall benefits to the US and world from the two world powers being diplomatic. And agreeing on many critical areas. If Obama or Hillary had had the exact same meeting and worked to improve relations, they'd be hailed by the fake comedy shows and media as being "statesman" and diplomatic. (except for Fox of course, they'd skewer them..;) It's also perplexing to me that anyone would think diplomacy with North Korea is a bad thing. Obama's ridiculous isolationist policy forced them to build their nuclear arsenal. Trump's trying to mitigate a brutal dictator starting WW3 and bombing key allies such as South Korea and Japan. Or even the US. I shake my head that anyone wouldn't look at starting diplomatic relations with NK as a great success for Trump and America. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. It's brilliant.

Meyers and Colbert's political propaganda only works through lies-by-omission. Facts and perspective such as those you mention wouldn't work. They need voters to stay ignorant for any hope of their beloved Democrats winning next election. It doesn't matter to them that they're hurting the country with their fake-comedy.
1
Although I agree with your premise, ...I think Trump needs to stop feeding the trolls...like CNN, Colbert and Meyers. He's doing a great job on things that matter but continues to say stupid, un-Presidential things. For example, criticising someone's appearance or intelligence. When he does it, he's fair game. And he feeds the trolls.
1
Why? Meyer's blatantly lied about Trump's comment on regulations. And he lied-by-omission in his reporting of the border issue. Trump has altered procedural enforcement of current laws to ensure families trying to enter illegally will all be kept together. For their rapid deportation/return to Mexico. If that's why you "appreciate" the vid, we're on the same page. ;)
1
Sean L...you seem to disagree with something I said. Please elaborate.
1
Trump has altered the procedure to address illegal immigrants (and their kids) at the border. They will now be kept together for rapid deportation. All is good.
1
Jihook Harling...You make good points. I agree there will always be those wanting to leave their own country for another. Maybe for personal reasons or for "basic needs". Some will do it legally and some will have no choice but to try to do it Illegally. The US can't solve Mexico's problems and the "desperation" of some of its citizens. Just like South Korea can't solve North Korea's problems. The US can't be expected to provide Mexico's "3 basic needs" you refer to. Legal immigrants who get in line and follow all process are welcome. Refugees with valid asylum requirements who pass vetting for national security risk are always welcome. Everyone agrees with being humane with those who try to enter illegally. For example, many of the pictures of kids in cages we've seen this week were taken in 2014 under Obama. Very inhumane. (btw, it was a massive lie for media and comedy shows to imply the pictures were all Trump's fault and part of the recent issue. More people should be angry about that) Bottom line, every country needs to control its borders. Every country needs to control , and carefully monitor, who enters. It's a issue of National Security. And an issue of Domestic Peace. The rights of the majority for safety ALWAYS outweighs the rights of the individual. That's why Obama and Hillary both wanted (and voted for) a COMPLETE border barrier with Mexico to control illegal immigrants. (This is another fact rarely mentioned among the anti-Trump propaganda)
1
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. It's a brilliant concept when you think about it.
1
In many respects, they are. For example, economic policy, weak migration/refugee policy, energy exports, etc. Trump tells it like it is.
1
V Heller...good points all around. I agree environmental issues have no borders. It therefore becomes a discussion on what's the best approach? Federal/big brother vs more State/local-based regulations. As I said, many think less Federal regulation is a very good thing. I can't verify off hand, but I think that includes many Democrat States.
1
JC//DC....Myers and Colbert report on serious news stories. I agree they're expected to be funny when providing their opinion. But when they incessantly mislead, misinform and outright lie on their source material/opinions and provide a completely one-sided perspective, they cross the line from satire to propaganda. I put Maher in a different category of biased Liberal comedians. He regularly has guests on his show to provide a different perspective. And he regularly criticizes and jokes about his beloved Democrats. Something you'd never hear from Colbert and Meyers. In addition to their lies/lies-by-omission, Meyers and Colbert cherry-pick tiny snippets of news and footage. And regularly use quotes out of context. They've used fake pictures. Colbert even edited a Tweet on a very serious national issue to completely change the context to fit his propaganda. That's not "performing". It's a complete lack of personal integrity. A good example of such media/comedy show bias was the recent use of pictures of children in cages. The pictures were taken in 2014 under Obama. The clear goal of this lie was to support their propaganda and mislead on the recent border issue. This blatant lie should make people angry. I agree people don't need to watch their shows. But I also think it's important to bring facts and perspective to their propaganda vid's comment sections. Even though it's often hostile territory for logic! If I had a nickel for every time I've been called a "trumptard" or "russian bot" for simply stating facts. (or for every time someone used the 'orange' reference..;) I'm realistic though. I understand the vast majority of people getting their information from propaganda shows are unable/unwilling to have adult conversations or discuss serious issues. Most are incapable of even reading this far. They see a long comment and just reply with frustration/insults on how long the comment is. And most are only able to attack those they disagree with using insults or ad-hominem (the bottom 2 of the 7 levels of disagreement). Worse, this approach is often guaranteed to get lots of 'likes'...from others just like them. They feel empowered....and the cycle continues. I'll leave you with a thought. I firmly believe Meyers and Colbert are helping Trump and the Republicans. People have caught on to their game. They're tired of the lies and same basic jokes for over a year. They're tired of them creating issues where none exists. They're tired of cruel misplaced attacks on Melania or Ivanka, (etc). They're tired of being misled by propaganda cleverly disguised as 'satire'.

ThePietjandorie...Regarding regulations Trump has cut, I referenced some numbers above in my first comment of this section. Source the Washington Post. Trump definetely used hyperbole with respect to cutting regulations. But it wasn't a lie. Trump's use of hyperbole is actually a pretty smart strategy when you think about it. It forces people to investigate the issue/accomplishment he's referring to. He kind of trolls the trolls. For example, Myers claim Trump lied was a lie. And he said in this vid, and I quote, "In all cases...". (referring to past President's records) I know I'm cherry-picking a tiny snippet of Meyers rant to support my point/bias. But that's exactly what he does EVERY anti-Trump propaganda vid...;)
1
Nothing to do with Trump...Jones was smart...he did it prior to the anthem. He won't say it... but I guarantee he wouldn't accept one of his players disrespecting the flag and military during the anthem. The players with a 'cause' can protest all they want...the anthem isn't the time and place.
1
A Ibrahim. I don't have discussions with those who are unable to communicate like a rational person. Excessive insults and ad hominem make opinions irrelevant and unworthy of response.
1
Thank you for validating my approach.
1
And thus-far in 2017 there's been 730 people killed by cops (source, Washington Post). Whites, Hispanics, and other comprise over 76%, blacks 23%. Why aren't white/hispanic football players kneeling to protest this blatant racism!?
1
Well said. Particularly "echochamber". I'm now calling Myers show fake-comedy. At some point, he and Colbert will realize their incessant anti-Trump propaganda isn't working. I think they'll realize the lies, bias, and misinformation probably hurts their cause. Smart people know the country is doing excellent. Trump and the GOP are doing everything they promised and more.
1
Cur M...your questions are valid. I also wonder what women think of the serious allegations by Karen Monahan of domestic violence by Democrat Congressman Keith Ellison, who is a candidate for Minnesota Attorney General? The allegations were brushed aside by the Democrat party. Apparently they simply didn't believe the woman's serious allegations. Why aren't women and MeToo protesting the Karen Monahan case? And to echo your comment...I wonder what their children think of their hypocrisy?
1
Annabelle B ..I’m curious of your opinion on the Ellison case? Do you agree it should have been brushed aside simply because the Dems didn’t believe her story?
1
The 'whataboutism' discussion is appreciated. A related concept is the "Hierarchy of Disagreement". (google in images). For example, 'Refuting the Central Point' is rarely seen in political discussions. Comedy monologues are in the bottom layers.
1
Kynk...I'll assume out of dozens of replies to your original comment...someone has said the following..but I'll say it anyway. I respectfully disagree. Trump supporters love the excellent job he's done for the country. Domestically and globally. Better brace yourself for 6 more years of enjoying a great economy, job opportunities, tax cuts, de-regulation, national security, etc. etc.
1
Salt...so you're calling Kanye West "evil". That's racist.
1
Judi O'Regan...Great catch. I'm guilty as charged. I just love to remind people Kanye West is a Trump supporter...;)

@Never Again..You can't stamp a double stamp.

I think people are just happy the country's doing great in many key areas. For example, 1. Low income/working class families are enjoying economic gains not seen in 20 years. For example, the monthly unemployment rate for those without a HS diploma is the lowest since 2000. And for those with a diploma, its the lowest it's been since 2007. And contrary to propaganda, the unemployment rate for African Americans is lower under Trump than Obama. 2. Trump's tax reforms will prove to be the best legacy from his first term. Corporate investment has surged 9.3% in the past year. This translates into jobs and massive spending on infrastructure. 3. Related to 2, Trump FINALLY made the US corporate tax rate competitive with other developed countries. For example, the official reason Apple gave for investing $350 billion in US jobs/infrastructure was Trump's tax reforms. And the $350 billion was in addition to a $40 billion dollar "repatriation" tax they voluntarily repaid. 4 . On foreign policy, Trump is making great moves. For example, every recent President has promised to move the Israel embassy. He's the only one with the guts to do it. And getting North Korea to the table and starting important discussions will prove to be another great legacy from Trump's first term. It was a far better approach than Obama's ridiculous isolationist policy to NK (which forced them to build their nuclear arsenal). 5. National security is enhanced with better border protection and immigration processes. Trump's actions are similar to "deporter in chief" Obama... Who also was forced to separate families at the border and had significant travel/immigration restrictions on the same 7 countries in the recent Supreme Court decision. 6. Housing-starts show a significant post-2016 jump. It's one of the best overall indicators of any country's economy. Trump's policies are providing confidence and long term security for both consumers and investors.
1
Stephanie S....good points. And I agree on the issue of national debt. However, I think it's a completely bi-partisan issue. Each President inherits a certain amount and both parties impact spending. Plus, there's many other variables affecting debt such as the global economy, wars/conflicts, etc. I think the tax reforms will turn out to be an excellent move for the debt issue. And the best legacy from Trumps first term. It's already resulting in increased corporate spending and spin offs for small businesses, jobs and infrastructure. And countries like Canada are forecasting an exodus companies returning operations to the US. Canada's corporate tax rate is no longer far below the US.

You're bringing facts and logic to a comment section that desperately needs it. Thank you.
1
It's illogical to direct your anger at the current President. The drug epidemic is a bi-partisan issue. Big Pharma ensures both Democrats and Republicans are pro-drugs.
1
No, he's just saying what millions are thinking: protest all you want, for whatever your cause is...just not during the anthem.
1
"It's not a lie if you believe it".---George Costanza. Why do I think Christine Ford has watched Seinfeld?
1
Stingjay 4000, What specifically do you disagree with? Is it my previous comment pointing out why I think the Trump/Putin summit was a success (and a great step in US/Russia relations)? If so, please address each point individually. Or if you disagree with my reply to "Devo Davis", please address which point concerns you? (they're numbered 1 to 5, or in subsequent paragraphs). If you address the issue/topic rather than me, maybe we'll both learn something.
1
More likely groundskeeper Willy. He'd kick some ass.
1
Maher is pretty centrist actually. And he often criticizes the Democrats and their insane leftist radicals (AOC, etc). I agree he’s funny but stopped watching him during the Trump administration. Couldn’t take the lies and political propaganda.
