@bobdavidson756 Nope. If they wanted one lane to be used that far back they’d have moved the cones. You fill both lanes right up to the merge point.
6
It’s actually a very effective way to move traffic as it’s a zipper merge scenario for the 2 lanes turning left. The only issue arises when people coming from the other lane don’t yield, as shown in the clip.
6
@jasonguerette921 Great to see comments from people who understand the zipper merge on this channel. Kinda rare unfortunately.
6
3:00…Creating a gap and letting people cross 2 or more lanes of traffic should be illegal. If they’re turning right into the curb lane, fine.
6
The cammer did the right thing. In a zipper merge scenario both lanes should be used right up to the pinch point (cones). Then vehicles alternate. It’s the most effective way to move traffic.
6
The bigger issue is the idiot in the red truck who stopped a line of traffic to let the vehicle cut in.
6
@arc00ta I was just going to comment the same. I can’t see a proper cycle of green, orange, red. Weird.
6
@KylesRV Forget what states require. It's about what's smart. Zipper merges are the most effective way to move traffic. The scenario in the video was textbook on why...forming one massive line is idiotic and leads to road rage.
5
6:35…The cammer’s vehicle was totalled? From that? Mind boggling.
5
I hope “a lot of people” doesn’t include you lol. It’s idiotic to form one massive line when two lanes are available.
5
The cammer in #2 for example.
5
@AndyDrake-FOOKYT Some states have made zipper merging law. You'd best do some research because yours might be one of them lol.
5
If Trump wins.
5
@JazznRealHipHop …That’s the thing…it’s not cutting in line. It’s the correct thing to do in a construction zone when 2 lanes become one. Look up “zipper merge” and educate yourself on the proper way to drive. And some states may be making zipper merging a law so you may want to stay on top of it. At the very least, if you’re one of those people who gets in a long line WAY too early make sure you let vehicles get in front of you when you get to the merge point. The people you’re letting in aren’t cutting you off, they’re driving smart.
5
The first clip is another excellent lesson to never give someone a reason to road rage. Hope that loser with the gun has been caught.
5
BuckeyeBob ..Yep, you’re right, they have to yield. But to lay on the horn like he did when he’s not going anywhere is a huge overreaction. Moreover, it alarmed the driver in the middle of making his turn. It’s just another example of a cammer who’s out there looking for something to freak out about. And here’s a tip for having adult conversations: Just stick to the topic. There’s no reason to make it personal.
5
Since I began watching these “truckers only” videos I’ve become ultra patient, careful, and considerate of trucks when driving.
5
Lol you’re highly outnumbered with this opinion. The vast majority of comments are criticizing him for speeding and acting like a baby.
5
The cammer was correctly zipper merging. The idiot in the truck should’ve let him in. It’s really unfortunate there appears to be a lot of people who don’t understand zipper merging when two lanes go into one is the most efficient way to move traffic. Hopefully videos like this will educate a few people.
4
Sadly there’s only a couple of us in this comment section who understand what a zipper merge is and know the truck driver’s an idiot. It’s mind boggling how many people are siding with him. And unfortunately even the cammer didn’t realize he was correctly zipper merging or he’d have mentioned it.
4
@KylesRV Don't take this personally but the only reason you think zipper merges don't work in practice is you're one of the people who wants to get in one massive line.
4
@@theanti-propagandist5116 I feel your pain lol! It’s mind boggling how many people in this comment section don’t understand a zipper merge. Worse, it appears many are unwilling to look it up and educate themselves. They’re the ones who’ll form one massive single line and rage at the smart people passing them to do the zipper.
4
First clip is a zipper merge scenario. The cammer was doing the right thing. The idiot in the truck should’ve let him merge.
4
#7 Love seeing people who know how zipper merging works. Cammer’s right.
4
@swinde Filling both lanes up to the merge point has been proven through numerous studies to be the most efficient way to move traffic (look it up). The other major benefit of the zipper merge is that traffic doesn’t back up in one lane for miles, which can needlessly impact intersections, driveways, etc. If they want only one lane used they block it off. They leave 2 lanes open for as long as possible to allow a zipper merge. The cammer was right and everyone who formed a massive single line needs to learn how to drive, especially the idiot who raged.
4
@MrIrishalley It’s good you understand it reduces congestion prior to the pinch point. That’s a major factor in moving traffic efficiently. Bottom line, the cammer executed a perfect zipper merge. Hopefully a bunch of the vehicles who were in that long line followed his lead and formed two lines right up to the merge point. But I doubt it. Again, there should be a national education campaign on the zipper merge. They should also put big signs saying “Zipper Merge Here!” at merge points. And the exclamation point is needed.
4
@MrIrishalley Incorrect. He executed a perfect zipper merge. He went right to the end of the lane that ended, which is exactly what they wanted. In order to do so he had to pass a bunch of people who clearly don’t know what a zipper merge is, particularly the idiot who raged at him.
4
@jp1087 So happy to see your comment, and those like it, getting the majority of support. This comment section is usually about 75% on the side of forming one big massive line rather than driving with a brain.
4
No 3 is like that Seinfeld episode where Uncle Leo says old people can get away with anything.
4
1:37….I like the cammer laughing and taking the other driver’s mistake in stride rather that freaking out with anger like we often see.
4
He WAS merging right and he was doing a perfect zipper merge by filling up the lane that ends right to the pinch point. Unfortunately the Neanderthal in the pickup truck doesn’t know a zipper merge is the best way to move traffic. All he had to do was let one car get in front of him but his tiny brain and massive ego couldn’t handle it.
4
Take everything cammers say in their comments with a grain of salt.
4
When two lanes of traffic become one the most efficient approach is a zipper merge. This means the vehicles in the lane that continues should yield to vehicles from the lane that’s ending, one at a time alternating. Watching these videos it’s amazing how many drivers don’t seem to know about zipper merge etiquette.
4
@amenhotepavoskin1307 Lol great idea!
4
Nope. You fill both lanes up to the merge point. The cammer was right.
4
First vid. If the cammer had any common sense they’d have noticed traffic was stopped for a light. What’s their big rush to get in line? smh
4
“I didn’t honk or anything just went about my day.” If only more cammers took that attitude.
4
A zipper merge is the most efficient way to keep traffic moving when 2 lanes become one. Both the trucker and the cammer don’t seem to realize this. There should be big signs miles from the pinch point telling people to zipper merge to avoid this kind of situation.
3
@dlight9849 …It’s a tie lol.
3
I’m conflicted with # 4. On the one hand I loved seeing the idiot line jumper blocked, and on the other I think it’s better to leave enforcement up to the cops.
3
@CP-de6yt Wrong. It’s not self centred to drive correctly. Both lanes are open right up to the pinch point because it’s a zipper merge scenario. All the people forming one massive line are causing needless traffic congestion. It’s actually very self centred of them. Don’t feel bad for being wrong. You’re among dozens in this comment section who are uneducated on the efficacy of zipper merges, especially when there’s road work.
3
5:51…The second truck shouldn’t have proceeded but they likely were blocked from seeing the light change. If something so incredibly minor upsets the cammer I can’t imagine how they react to real issues.
3
In my experience about 75% of the comment section for these videos would be on the side of the guy blocking zipper mergers from going to the front. There needs to be a national education campaign of educate these people.
3
Yep it was a classic road rage scenario where the white car wasn’t going to let the suv get in front of him no matter what. But the accident will surely be deemed the fault of the suv.
3
Watching these vids makes me be extra courteous to truckers. I also don’t want to show up in one of these vids lol.
3
So true. Having watched this channel for a year I now find myself incredibly patient and courteous on the roads, especially with truckers.
3
@FuturePants Bully?! Lol, dude you need to look up what a zipper merge is. Vehicles alternate at the pinch point. If everyone knew how to do it there wouldn’t be people like the idiot rager in the video.
3
@FuturePants Lol, you’re free to get in one big line and cause traffic mayhem. Just don’t get mad when people pass you and correctly zipper merge.
3
I wish there was technology to remove cammer’s background music from clips but leave everything else.
3
4:05 “Thank God for these dash cams”. Lol, Thor, Zeus and Brahma have nothing to do with it.
