As Bernie has proposed often, it can be phased in, starting with lowering the age from 65 to 55 the first year, 45 the second year, etc.. Private insurance will still exist for people who want it.

  11.  @markgoldman7683  this happens very rarely, but sometimes in the third trimester, a doctor finds in an ultrasound that the fetus isn't viable. Sometimes major organs are missing. But as I said, very rarely. Still a medical procedure between a woman and her doctor.

  21.  @danaecarriere8212  no ethical doctor does abortions at 30 weeks unless there are rare medical issues with the mom or fetus. 95% of abortions happen in the first trimester. A fetus' nervous system isn't developed fully to survive outside of the mother's body until after about 26 weeks. Even then the premie will be in NICU w respiratory problems, as the lungs aren't fully developed.

  22.  @DirtyRedMuzik  statistically it's extremely rare. If anything ever since Roe was overturned OB/GYNs are scared (in certain states) to take life-saving care of the pregnant woman (or girl). Women who need a procedure to remove the fetus remains during a miscarriage, are now being made to wait til the women are septic. Government has no place in these extremely personal medical decisions. Doctors and patients should be the ones deciding.
