  10. Perhaps in private. But not in public. He knows even his supporters are majority pro sovereignity. I can even remember that being the main talking point of Brexit. It would be a major betrayal to want sovereignity for Britain (which Britain never really lost) but don't allow Ukraine to maintain their sovereignity which is really under threat as we speak.

The best you can hope for in these cases is some sense of morality is holding them back doing this but without even moral constraints horrible things happen.   31. Ukraine did all that. Not joined EU and not talked about joining NATO until after the crimean invasion. And yet Putin still invaded them. Putins problem was the moment Ukraine joins NATO an invasion would mean war with all NATO countries. NATO is an invasion insurance nothing more.

  32. The Schengen-treaty was not unilateral. It was a treaty and had to be signed by countries. And not all EU countries joined so it was not mandatory either. And the open-border policy was only between these countries not to the outside. The outside was never open as you should know when entering the EU for example at an airport.

  38. There is a little more behind it. Did you know that DeepSeek the Chinese AI is internally using Open AI to distill it's training from? China also used illegally optained Nvidia Core chips (banned by Biden to China) via Singapore to power and train DeepSeek. DeepSeek is like a reskin over Open AI. Musk want to do the same as DeepSeek with Tesla AI to get a ton of investors. The thing is Open AI now took steps to prevent being used a training master for other AIs. And the only other way is to actually buy Open AI and integrate it into Tesla AI.

  40. Is this really what Putin wanted? That Americas realignment now makes Europe disconnect from America, rearm itself, potentially makes an European Army? That Europe now expands it's nuclear capability? That Europe becomes more independent and emancipated about itself? That Europe becomes less controllable (via America)? Seems to me this is not really in Putins favor. And also not in Americas favor.

  45. My suggestion would be to make a NATO subset alliance. Only friendly European countries. Same rules except the veto rule (so no single country can block something), same organization, same goals ("An attack on one is an attack on all"), same funding mechanism. This alliance can later be evolved to a European Defense Force. And because it is not directly linked to EU membership can even admit european nations who either not want to or can join the EU or are still in application phase.

  47. The core point is that any agreement with Putin cannot be trusted because he breaks them at will and noone can punish him for that. Putin broke: Budapest-Agreement (Protect in exchange for Nuclear Weapons), Minsk I & Minsk II. One can understand that Selenskyy needs some reassurance and safeties so Putin is not breaking it or punished when he does.

  48.  @mariogmajner6549  The Hospital was closed in 2011 under Tory Austerity. The police was cut down under Tory Austerity. The Schools needed to cut costs under Tory Austerity. Tory Austerity was supposed to reduce debt making. The costs were cut but instead of reducing debt making, debt making double in the last 11 years and the only thing which was reduced were Tory donor taxes.
