Do you think 41,000 or 21,000 tons make a huge difference? It's problematic either way. Always the conspiracy what is wrong with you guys?

Decent interview by DWNews. Must be a pleasure for US officials compared to the shark-tank next room with the American journalists constantly interrupting allowing to finish a thought for a change.

As far as I know new EU legislation forces the content-provider to explain 1) that posts of you have been hidden/removed/deleted and 2) why posts of you have been removed and 3) You have to have an option to appeal the decission. My post which had no hate-speech and no information this video not has talked about as well was just removed ... where can I appeal?

To kill a couple civilians and destroy one or two buildings? With a weapon which is highly imprecise due to the high speed it's traveling. This is like using a mio dollar missile to shoot at a fly.

Video cut out too early ... let's hope it's not Covid-20

Growing by military conquest is a concept which belongs to the 20th century and before. The costs of war far outweight any terrain-gains for a territory which probably needs 25 years to reach pre-war levels again. Look at Germany 32 years passed and still busy fixing 40 years of sovjet occupation. Most of Europe learned this lession after two world wars and began to take another strategy growth by cooperation, trade and regional development which ended up being the European Union. United to the outside, diverse and individual to the inside. The best of both worlds and what even military conquest is aiming for in the end: Prosperity and growth. So why not skip the military conquest, the burning and destruction, the death, violence and horrors, the necessary rebuilding and all and go straight to the growth and prosperity part.

It does not make much difference if you make a factory in France, Italy or Germany EU shares the same market/economy and customs area. EU alignment makes sure countries cannot be played out against each other anymore within the Single Market. And this factory is clearly build to manufacture Tesla's for the Single Market and placed almost at the center of the EU.
15
@AdrianWingate2010 He is saying stay in France even if France was never your target country.
15
If that is true than this reporting is missing a significant information which totally changes the picture. Do you have a source describing this in detail?

I have no interest in Indian politics and no relation to india whatsoever besides having watched the movie Gandhi. There was nothing negative here, but nothing positive either. Maybe this is what angers you the missing of false praise. P.S. And I'm pretty sure Gandhi would not be happy about all of this.
14
Sure they said "Not with us" (pun intended) Only Britain joined the US in the iraq war the rest of Europe not.
14
The same problem can grow with Malaria and other illnesses. The changing weather patterns allows some species to travel further north/south and surviving longer allowing to spread diseases in regions which are not used to them. Even local species which usually suvive the winter only in smaller numbers can become an issue when overpopulated.

This happens when you not rob your own country for yourself. I mean Putin must be blind. Europe has not used military conquest for 80 years to expand and grow and not only rebuild completly after the 2nd World War but also grown past that by regional development especially by the EU. This is the way. The new way of growing without military conquest. Not what Putin is doing by conquering and stealing from your neighbours. His strategy belongs to the 20th century.

@cyberfunk3793 But not while we were around and this is the problem.
13
Germany was never called "The sick man of Europe" but the UK was called this 50 years ago before joining the EC. And as things are going in Britain after Brexit it is there again.
13
@wackey2k10 Ironically neighter Russia nor China or even America wants Europe to have it's own army. It would be the most high-tech military on this planet challenging them all making everything even more strategically difficult in case Europe suddenly has it's own plans.
13
Something is telling me this technology is much further than they want to let us know. Laser is old. Over 50 years by now and you can be sure they trying this for decades.
13
Be careful with those who lie. Lies never lead to something good. Never Trust anyone blindly. And do not care who is lying. Those rules apply to left-leaning and right-leaning people and media. I can watch both sides ... but not if I detect one side lying.
13
@ernstschwaig4667 Of course they need subsidies. Having regional food production is essential or you get a critical dependency to trade routes (see ship blockades or the canal havaries recently) with life-threatening consequences. And to be able to compete with the mass-producers who gives a damn about monocultures and environmental protection. Those who will be affected by climate change first. If we are not careful we going into a disaster only 2nd to Mao's policies in the 60/70ties.
13
Most people don't have time for that diligence. Therefore the more important it is to have trusted news sources who do this diligence for us. Like DWNews for example. But a grain of caution and doubt is always healthy and having multiple sources from different countries is helpful too.
13
There are 70 mio Germans. Don't you think you extremly generalized here. What about all these protests against hate and the right-wing? Even this video is contradicting your statement.
13
Food is different. You can survive without a Tesla but not without food.
12
Thanks for this info. It was irritating.
12
You mean the bias for Democracy? If you not like this bias, you are in the wrong channel.

China is doing the colonialism with the Belt and Road initiative. Russia as well in Africa with the Wagner Group. Ask Africa how the newest form of colonialism is working out for them.

BS-argument. There is no reason why a private company should be more or less effective than a state-owned. It's just a question of personel. And since this company is still a normal stock-company but with 98% state ownership ... not much has changed actually. Just the profits go to 98% to the people of Germany.
11
Excellent reporting DWNews. You seem to be doing something right when your posts bring thousands of Pro-Russian and Anti-West commentators here to comment on your videos. You really seem to be saying things they do not like to hear ... the truth.
11
Thanks for covering this topic. I tried to convey this problem of costs of nuclear energy to people on the internet especially since it's seen as the wonder to beat climate change not seeing the real costs and disadvantages involved especially if compared to modern green technology.

Ironically China now has to fix something which made China superior to western manufacturing ... low labour costs. And by changing that losing the advantage of it and ending up at the same situation like America and Europe. The only way to increase their internal market to let's say EU levels is to raise wealth and distribute wealth among the 99% in form of higher wages, tax credits and/or subsidies something the CCP is not willing to do because the share goes away from the privileged CCP class. Another problem: Leave the big tier-5/4 cities of China just half an hour and you get the feeling you doing a 50 year time travel. The countryside is underdeveloped and poor and China needs to severly uplift these areas to become what China wants to be independent and self-sufficient. You can never achieve this goal 100% anyway because modern society is too technical and too complex to do everything on your own. So you need to open your society to the rest of world again something the current government really not want to do anymore. And with this change new problems come because a larger middle class will want more political say and more freedoms. And opening up to the outside allows sharing of information and creates new wishes, cultural exchanges and more "why can't we have that". It's fascinating to watch actually like a law of nature applied to human society/culture something you cannot avoid like a law of nature.

Give me a policy from the new constitution which would have done something ... "communistic" as you suggested. And explain to me why it's bad.

I think the impact for companies is lower than companies think. The EU already applies Rules-of-Origin for goods coming from outside the EU or via Free-Trade Agreements. Extending this documentation by two additional components shouldn't be so hard. This is also one more reason to source components from within the EU or countries with Free-Trade Agreements (since these new requirements will be included) instead of relying on imports from questionable sources in 3rd countries. And thirdly the "Brussels-Effect" meaning rules to trade with the EU are exported to all countries doing bussiness with the EU leading to improvements in these countries who seek to do bussiness. A smart way to make the world better by greed (the wish to sell in the EU). Encouraging these countries to adopt these policies in order to continue or expand bussiness. It also improves competition and fairness worldwide with countries who already adhere to the rule and make their products more interesting and competetive as potential sources for EU companies and helps leveling the playfield and rewards environmental friendly innovations stronger. Next step should be including Climate Gas emission footprint to encourage Green Energy and Green Production, fair taxation and labour laws.

Germany fixed that in the meantime. And even before that Germany spend more per year than the UK in absolute pay. You can hardly call that "not paying the bills". And Germany has really a problem with that. Because Germany is forbidden to have offensive weaponry like subs and nuclear weapons since WW2 all is spend on defense.

soomstrategist Ukraine did not attacked Russia. This is like a neighbour who sees the fine new car of the neighbour and comes with a sledgehammer to trash it.

Some contextual informations to that I recently got from a nuclear scientist. - Normal radioactive waste needs roughly 300,000 years to be as radiant as Uranium Ore again. - The current storage solutions of most countries are temporary and last only a couple decades before containment breaches can occur. - It is possible to recycle radioactive waste partially (fully is not possible) to make more nuclear fuel but it is expensive, much more expensive than just making more normal nuclear fuel. - Waste from recycled radioactive fuel needs only 10,000 years until it is as radiant as Uranium Ore again. - The ability of recycling radioactive waste allows automatically to split plutonium off from the waste which can be used for nuclear weapons. It is seen as a security risk when countries have this ability or facilities for it.

@Wolfcamp555 Insurances already refuse to insure houses in Florida for high risk of storms. How long do you think insurances are willing to insure farmers? And even if. It is another cost which further reduces your income and/or raises prices and just feeding another middleman.

Process their asylum claims quickly maybe in Mexico already. So they do not need to wait long, need housing, food, etc. and scaring the locals and so that they can be deported when denied. The sooner this is done the sooner they can be put to work to stop being a burden to society and instead contribute.

There is a good long-term strategy for Africa. The African Union modeled after a similar model like the European Union. But this is the last thing countries like Russia or China wants. Divide and conquer is their strategy any union just makes it harder.

I only see a 5 year old sulking for not getting the toy he wanted.

Belt and Road is toxic. Predatory loans. Has noone made the numbers before? Never live above your means. And better check the construction quality I would not be surprised if the first decay is already visible.
8
Can you cooperate long-term and reliable with countries who seek world dominance not co-existence?

The coalition is problematic to say the least. It's like putting pro-worker and pro-bussiness into the same government, or like putting pro-spending/high-tax to low-spending/low-tax into the same government. Their goals along party lines are often incompatible and compromise is hard to find. If they not find a middle-ground things begin to stagnate and people see that and perceive it as bad because it isn't moving at all. And voters will express this dissatisfaction at the ballot box. Law-wise this doesn't have to be bad assuming the original situation is not problematic but already okay. But it looks like standstill. Bussiness actually likes it they hate change because it impacts their daily routine they established they want stability and predictability. This is the thing with Proportional Represenation (PR) you are encouraged to compromise. If not you stagnate and will be voted out in exchange for parties who are willing to compromise. The law-making of this kind of governing is much moderate not so extreme as under models when one party controls everything and once the next party comes in they revert everything back and start from scratch again.

@johnlenin1901 Give me an example from the new constitution which is "bad" in your view and explain to me why.
8
It was neutral before Putin began to steal land from them.
8
Not really unexpected is it? Netanyahu had 3 months and 2 or 3 different proposals he all torpedoed with unreasonable requests because he is not really interested in a ceasefire ... or peace for that matter. It would mean elections and him losing and going to prison for corruption.
8
We had similar issues on peaches in America especially Georgia and for oranges and olives/olive oil in south-europe. The more extreme and unusual weather having a real work effect on food prices and income in those regions. And this is just the beginning of climate change effecting our daily lifes and creating additional costs and hardships.
8
Why the instant ruling out of a plausible factor. It is not the deciding factor but it makes it worse as the video states.
8
Why does he remind me of Rasputin? And in the same position to the head of state.
8
Authoritarism on the left practically disappeared. Not even the so called "communists" advocating for overturning democracy in favor of dictatorial communism. None of them want to weaken or end democracy to ensure they stay in power. The right-wing does unfortunatly so I worry more about them.

It was until Putin invaded and stolen Crimea.
