They fear the 2 Senate Seats. And the 700.000 probably majority Democrat-voters which are as you have seen larger than Vermont and Wyoming in numbers.
1
That would be a form of Gerrymandering. And as long as states exists who have even less inhabitants a ridiculous suggestion. Berlin in Germany is also a capital and a state and is also not very large in size, but has millions of citizens and is even fully sourrounded by another state.
1
Why? Come on just saying your opinion is boring! Why. And be honest not this fake reason with being the Capital. There IS NO OTHER CAPITAL ON THE WORLD like this. Let me guess: Because Democrats would most likely get 2 more seats right? Or that 700,000 people mostly voting Democrats would suddenly be part of the House?

@Soma81 Read it. They said the area where the Political Institutions are. Noone says anything about the rest of the city.
1
@Soma81 You should read it. They mentioned only the Federal District and Federal Buildings. Not the whole city.
1
@Bob Bobbington Sadly yes, the number of gun related deaths. It was in the video.
1
@Bob Bobbington "Liberals"? Europe is offended. Neo-Liberals are what the Republican party was 10 years ago before the jump to the right. The party of bussiness, low-taxes and the wealthy. "Liberal" come from freedom to do what you want, without rules, without limits, meaning low regulation. Meaning exploiting and cheating how much and whereever you want in order to maximize your profits. This is exactly what we don't want just look at the US after 70 years of this policy: An utter disaster generations will need to recover from. Social-Democrats if you please. It's a little bit further left, but not quite as left as socialists.
1
@Bob Bobbington And still 115.000 people die by guns every year. And the argument that crime had gone down is not false, however what you not mentioned is that it has gone down globally but much slower in the US than EVERYWHERE else on the planet. The US is country leading every crime statistic amongst the G7, the G11, G20. Has the most prisoners per capita, the highest prison costs, in all measures miserably bad regarding crime, justice, prisoners. I will leave you here. Since I know for a while that you are a troll account. (Your account is barely 3 months old) and your accountname is almost a dead giveaway. I deal with internet trolls for more than 2 years now and know all the tricks already. But every now and than I like to play with you guys for the benefit of others. But this here reached the end of my amusement. CU.

The plug at the end spoiled this a little. Please don't do this on such content.

Just imagine Trump is a child and suddenly it makes all sense.

Suggestion: Make lying illegal in the Congress! If someone lies in Congress (Represenatives and Senators including ... all especially Government/Administration) person could be indicted for it and if proven before court penalized for it.
1
Democracy has nothing to do with the Democrats. And the Republic has nothing to do with the Republican Party. The Republicans have pro Super-Rich policies and pro White Supremcy Policies since Reagan. And both have Pro-Corporate Policies. And a growing number of Democrats has Social Policies the so called Progressives. Those are the policies for the well of all people not only for a few.
1
It's correct to call out such things immediatly. If you don't they will continue with such things and they will use even stronger phrases as long as they get away with it. Like all liars and conmen they always test the waters to see how far they can go without consequences. Ignoring things like that is only making it worse.
1
@Valer You mixing facts and opinion. Jeremy talks about facts. You started to bring in opinion. A recipe for disaster.

Perfect music at the beginning. This is really comedy theater now.
1
Looks like someone wanted it to drop. This show is a perfect metaphore about what's wrong with the financial market / stock market. It's a large casino game but unlike in the casino not build on impartial chance but on perception. And perception can easily changed with shows and publicans like this one or TV-stations like Fox. You don't even need the truth, a lie will do and the prices change. A politician who knows there will be large deal before everyone else knows, a new announcement about investment before everyone else knows it. It's just a large manipulation for your money, a scam, maybe even the largest humanity has ever made.

The Supreme Court had from the beginning one judge for every judiciary district in the United States. It started with 6 districts and because new districts were added extended to 7 than 8 and finally 9. Than this practice was suspended. Today there are 14 districts. So extending the Supreme Court to 13 is not unjustified and not unconstitutional and make even sense. The Republicans brought this upon themselves how they delayed appointments for over a year and than fast-tracked a judge while a new government was voted. In addition to that younger and younger judges were added which is insane in view of the fact that they are appointed for life. Now they "blocking" seat for 50 years and more. The Republicans exploited the system in the last 50 years to their advantage and they are the ones using it to get rid of anything they cannot change themselves in Congress. The Supreme Court is supposed to be a watchdog for the constitution and to keep the executive and legislation in check not part of Legislation itself. It's time the rules for the Supreme Court are written down in stone to clearly define the rules. Rules which should be fair for everyone and rules which ensure the neutrality of this institution. If you need a template have a look at the German "Bundesverfassungsgericht" it's a very good template because Germany is also a Federal Republic and because Germany changed the rules to ensure Facism never happens again in Germany and this Court is ensuring this amongst other things.

Your opinion is duely noted ... but not shared. And not a shred of evidence whatsoever. So unless you provide some context, some explanation, some proof to your claim your opinion is worth nothing and void.

I'm actually astonished the US has after all this time in over 200 years still no federal election law. Allowing the states a wide playground to play with and influence elections in the favor of the current majority party especially in the implementation of them. And this is bi-partisan. Ask Republican voters in a blue state if they would be okay with changing the implementation of election in favor of Democrats like Republicans now try to do. There would a country-wide outcry over this injustice. There are other federal republics on this planet similar to the US and they have strict federal base rules for elections the very basis of democracy to make sure all elections are fair, equal, save and secure in all states of this country.
1
They will not. People don't know about injustice in this area. And makeing it public will only increase awareness ... and approval.

Crypto needs to be banned. Just ban the option to exchange it into real currency and it's value disappears you can't even burn it later because it's digital.
1
Those Dems either exploit low-wage workers themselves or are being payed by donations from companies who does. Those Dems are a danger to the party. They are DINOs (Democrats in Name Only). Why? Well because they act and behave like Republicans with a Dem Label. Expell them from the party! THEY ARE establishment.
1
Yes working for minimum wage. Paying your rent because you have no possibility to buy your home because the prices are simply unaffordable is also a form of slavery. Money slavery.
1
Elected by the people? My god this would be even worse.
1
Are there any Non-Corrupt left? There are even some DINOs who deserve the same.
1
Maybe you should watch the video again. Unless you earn more than 1 mio $ per year it hardly affects you.
1
Just 4 of the last 19 appointments are made by Democrats says it all that the system is off.

Precisly. The point is that some facts are incomplete/missing or just not told. If they are good or bad is a matter of debate later.
1
@emmaxvibe1683 Actually the Democrats supported Trump in getting 2000$ to all. But the Republicans didn't. It needed Biden in office to get another go at checks. And again Republicans tried to not pay a cent. Biden tried talking with them even offered them a little lower 1400 value but they didin't listen. In the end Biden had to use budget reconciliation to get the bill passed. AND NOT ONE REPUBLICAN VOTED FOR IT.
1
@emmaxvibe1683 Oh but that was before the election last year. Have you seen the poison pills in this bill. It would have made the richer even richer for a 3rd time on tax payers money and normal people wasn't helped. The 2000$ checks Trump tried to push for AFTER his election between Nov and Jan. Keep your facts straight and don't lose any otherwise people might come to the conclusion you trying to lie to them.
1
@emmaxvibe1683 Biden is the last chance for America. Republican corruption reached a level of self-destruction.
1
@emmaxvibe1683 Biden was never in power. As Vice-President you are 2nd in command. And as far as I remember Biden was never president before. Besides. The President is still only the head of government and administration and as such do and execute (Executive) what the law (legislation) demands in form of laws with a lot of room to play of course (within the laws). The real master is the Parliament or Congress in this case. Even a President of United States have no control over the Parliament or in this case the majority party. Get this finally in your head. The president is not a King. He cannot do whatever he wants. He can do a lot, but the Parliament is the real supreme power in a democracy and by votes the people. Thats also why it's so important to have fair, equal and impartial elections because from here ALL power derives.
1
@emmaxvibe1683 Sorry but this is a little weak. You know I'm not fully happy with Biden. But he now got a chance the last chance with his 78 in his life to do better. So far he did well, much better than Trump in 4 years what he done in the last 6 weeks. Not all is good, but nothing was really bad. Let's just wait and see. He has 3 1/2 more years to prove himself. And if he stays as productive and as effective as in the last 6 weeks it will be very good for America.
1
No other capital city on this planet exclude the voters in the same city.
1
@applenoo1015 And just a gram of it would be dangerous to live close by.

Why not "Columbia"

60 lost court cases without just one asset of evidence enough for the judge ... and you still believe this? If they had something other than lies they would glady present it before court but there is none and forging evidence or lying to the judge is a fellony. Sadly this rule does not apply outside courts or the world would be a much better place.
1
@legionlowrey9069 Yes some were dismissed on procedural grounds for example the notation that Texas can decide what Pennsylvania does with his elections and how. But ALL of them not only have often lack of standing but especially lack of evidence and some judges dismissed the cases on procedural counts to spare the Republicans the embarrassement of the lack of evidence.
1
@legionlowrey9069 Affidavits are no evidence! Everyone can make one. FYI: Those Swing-States are under Republican leadership. And I agree they often change laws mostly to somehow give them an unfair advantage. And I'm all for reforming everything everything setting it back to normal. However just because you don't like an outcome of an election doesn't mean they are fraudulent by default. Sometimes truth sucks there is nothing more to it. At least now you know how Democrats felt in 2016 after you idiots voted Trump but I can't remember them doing the things Trump did or saying it's all fraudulent or try to overcome the election results and steal it for himself this manchild unable to accept defeat and only doing what is good for himself. And you should be embarassed on giving a child, an egoist, a nacissist, a LIAR and wanne-be dicatator your vote! Thankfully he is incompetent to the bones or this would have ended badly.
1
@legionlowrey9069 Pathetic! You are one those lowlifes who thinks things get better on their own by letting others allow to vote or simply because you given up. Well I will keep you alone now to whatever you believe in. You are not worth my time or thought/concern. At least don't stand in our way and kindly step to the side where you aren't in the way with your passivness and "gave up all is rigged mentality". May you learn a thing or two while watching the next years. If you change your mind you know where to find us.
1
Yeah they have to become of morons in Red States delaying everything.
1
Of course everyone must prove before voting he or she is ellible for vote, but this was always there. Are you really this naive thinking people could vote let alone register for vote without it in the last 50 years? They just invented a new ID you must provide IN ADDITION to your exisiting ID. Extra hazzle, extra costs, more possibilites to throw the vote from the registry.
1
I miss John Bercow as Speaker.
1
@jaloux8583 Unless they find a way to make the Filibuster harder or go away.
1
The number of people is important, not the size. And with more than 700,000 voters there are even more than in Vermont and Weyoming.
1
There are other examples for this. Germany is like the US a Federal Republic. And the Capital Berlin has so many inhabitants that it is it's own state.
1
@MrRabbit772 So you want to prevent 700,000 tax-paying citizens from having a say on laws? Having their own budget, one that is not controlled by the opposit party? Do you know what the Boston Tea Party was all about? If not please read about it.
1
@MrRabbit772 You mean that of those 700,000 people there most are black and even the white tend to vote Democrat? And that Washington D.C. or Columbia or whatever it would be called would also get 2 Senate Seats. I know that! Those people pay taxes, they pay even more taxes than other states. They are with 700,000 people larger than Wyoming or Vermont. No other capital on this planet is excluded from voting. And there are examples on this planet where a "state" is only one city.
1
@MrRabbit772 I'd love to. I'd have no issues if all states have roughly the same pop-size. However New York had represenation. Washington D.C. not. And I noticed you ignored the point that I know very well why YOU and the Republicans don't want Washington D.C. as a state.
