  1. It is not always possible. Some weapons are consigned for auction with many restrictions, some aren't safe or suitable, and sometimes there just isn't ammunition or time.

  2. I believe that Ian has visited the FN museum. If I remember, he has mentioned that he was not permitted to film in the museum.

  3. The short answer is: yes, sort of. The Kingdom of Belgium did adopt the 1898 Mauser as their main issued rifle after the trials ( as Ian mentioned ). However, the country was nearly completely overrun by the Germams in the early stages of WWI and most of the Belgian forces spent a lot of time either in France ( and/or using a few different French rifles ), or bottled up in the far corners of their country for a long time period ( it is probably why John said to google search about history and the German occupation, a terrible time for the Belgians ).
