This means you want to keep your data digital and convert only to analog when you have significant gains like reducing complexity and transistor counts. So far digital calculation is cheaper in complexity compared to digital to analog converter + analog computation + analog to digital converter.

I just tested it. It is not possible. The second digit must be a2b1+a1b2=1 and a2=b2 also a1b1=1. There is no binary value that can satisfy all three equation.

Not yet. But p-adic might solve the format problem of AI. Floating point is sadly not powerful enough to represent weight values but a number system with natural encodings of fractions might do the trick.

@SolidSiren People with the highest numeracy is about the same with people with the lowest numeracy there is a dip in the middle slightly biased to above average numeracy but that is completely different to the conclusion that the higher the numeracy the worse are the result. They are claiming linear correlation when the curve is non linear and about flat in first order approximation. Whoever conducted the study was bad at doing science.

@SolidSiren On politically charged subject people with numeracy is about the same as people with less numeracy. They are not performing worse they are performing about the same.

CPU is already a hybrid. SRAM use for caches are actually analog circuits. But the problem with analog is that errors compound so you need to convert to digital in every step to prevent errors from dominating the values. Yes you can multiply two values easily using analog but your result also multiply the errors.

@leif1075 The problem with just using a sign bit is you end up with both positive zero and negative zero represented in your number format and this really really screw up many calculations. The +1 in 2's complement fixes this two zero problem.

Mathematician have solve this problem. All mathemtical system start with a finite list of axioms. Axioms are base assumption that are not proven. There is no ultimate truth only truth given your set of axioms are true. Godel have even proven that no mathematical system could prove all truths. He has proven that it is impossible to prove all truth. This incompleteness of the speed of light is natural all logical system is incomplete. The assumption that everything can be proven is the one that is unnatural.
