  1. With US leaving WHO there is a need of a counterweight against China in WHO. Germany can be that counterweight. Unlike Trump she do not need a scapegoat so she could take advantage of the US leaving and gain political influence to set worldwide health policy.

  3. Eljan Rimsa This could be true. A Wuhan lab could have been researching the virus and accidentally release it. But it could no have been engineered. Engineering means you intentionally designed the virus that means you can also design a version that is not harmful to use as a vaccine. So it could be that a Wuhan lab was reasearching a virus that is not capable of human tu human transmission but it mutated into something that do human to human transmission. This could also be the reason that it leaked. The labs protocol did not have safeguards against human to human transmission.

So far all reported deaths is contained in China. If there are indeed millions of infected then the lethality of the virus is mild. Millions die on ordinary flu regularly this virus has death count of less than a hundred.

  17. No this is actually the right time. Germany needs to stimulate their own economy. So spending money to bring production back to Germany will stimulate Germans economy at the same time reduce their reliance to China. They don't need to do the high handed approach of the US. They only need to imposed strict environmental and ethical restriction on imported goods from China. Products must not be produce with near slave level labor condition and production must not poison the environment

  23.  @Cortesevasive  The proper procedure is to quarantine them inside Wuhan and only let those who have pass quarantine return to their country. Or you charter a quarantined flight that is restricted to only land on quarantined airport. Otherwise you are risking transmission during travel.
