@2ndsunrise_ Still what is it, 16k Humvees around? That's mighty expensive to replace them all. I can understand frontline vehicles being replaced by South African mineproof vehicles, but they might as well just leave the Humvee for 'behind the line's duties.
37
Pressure from America and France! Who didn't want it to compete with the Tiger
35
... not to mention that the F-35 doesn't even have the range to fly from Sydney to Perth lol.
33
Well, Australia would have this fighter, except there was some corruption/disinformation involved which saw us go with the F-35 instead... Which is a bad move, as Australia's most critical role was for a maritime strike aircraft, which the f 35 fails at.
27
Could you do one on it's more experienced cousin, The Eland, from South Africa? Which saw almost constant war from 75 - late 80's.
20
@CaesarCassius wrong. Russia refused to share sensitive information with India, so they couldn't even come to that conclusion of the hey wanted to
16
@AegisEgalitarianAnarchism • future exo skeletons will be a lot closer to the skin, slimmer, and basically resemble knee straps/weight training gear. All technology shrinks in size.
14
@RealestSteve6969 And the Argentinians done all that with only 5 or so Exocets in their inventory when the war began. Argentina had orders for many more, but Britain pressured France into withholding the rest of the order.
14
Jonas Savimbi you sure are a dummy. On YouTube we can now see your comment history. And it's clear you're a fckin troll, dipshit.
14
And the morons who put it in front line service really deserve to punishment. Of course they won't get it. But that sure caused many unecessary deaths.
13
How do you find these opening music tracks?
13
I wish Australia bought some B-1 bombers to replace our F-111's.
10
@usaisthebestiockdownpoiice816 Cringe
10
You'll have to wait at least 15 years...
10
And it's the gun on the Rooikat.
9
@TheAngelobarker and Rooikat. Why everyone forgeting that vehicle?
9
The T-90 has by FAR outperformed the Abrams in the Middle East over recent years.
8
Btw, on-top of the reference to South African military fighting a "naval war" on land, the Rooikat is actually fitted with a naval gun and ammunition!
8
Yeah, more naval content please.
7
@alephkasai9384 it looks really stupid with that body hull, if it's not amphibious. Indonesian don't do design very well then.
7
@vut_zarco look at his name. He's a troll stirring up trouble.
7
I also disagree. Even in modern war, attacking aircraft often fly really low. For example, the Cuban attack on South African forces at the water project. Which happened just before SA fielded their AA-gun system, mounted on a Rooikat. That equipment would have saved the dam, and the course of the war.
6
Yes, and the Navy is regretting retiring the F-14 considering the short range of current fleet in regards to China... That they're making a stealth refuelling drone to give those hornet's some legs.
6
@RhelrahneTheIdiot This is what 'wargames' never take into consideration. Airfields will be the first target in a conventional war, and the Soviets had the upper hand, in that regard. Even today, it's still incredibly important for conventional war, and America is only now realising this, especially with limited airfields against any Chinese war.
6
@fredriks5090 well, he is a bodybuilder...
6
What's the point of 130? Penetration has more to do with ammo than size of gun.
5
@odinlindeberg4624 exactly. A shame Matsimus didn't talk about the logic here. Where would Marine tanks safely deploy anyway? To the north is Russia and North Korea, to the south is Vietnam... I can't see any of these nations accepting ship loads of tanks, tbh.
5
I miss when planes were made for a specific task. There's no more specialisation left in aircraft.
5
Perfect target for a Russian ballistic missile.
5
Let's not kid ourselves, it's because Australia is a trend setter and every other nation tries to keep up with us.
4
@Rose.Of.Hizaki you're forgetting that batteries are advancing exponentially, whilst combustion engines peaked decades ago.
4
@Rose.Of.Hizaki the motors would likely be located in each wheel, on an electric tank. So it'd be quite easy to disperse heat
4
@rps215 you can even look at modern American planes in Afghanistan. Most of them still fly with 1-4km of the ground.
4
@jamesricker3997 wtf are you talking about? It can carry munitions internally
4
@ece5925 How about that brown-water attack boat Sweden created, that carries Hellfires? Can't remembers it's name but it's awesome
4
Thanks for keeping up these reviews while I'm isolated Matsimus!
4
Tanks will be useless at war in the Western Pacific. Sorry, but you'll have a lot of trouble landing tanks in any war against China - hence the move towards more mobile forces.
3
@JohnRodriguesPhotographer that was in the 40s...
3
It will be a massive boost in logostics,. Also for firefighters, having extra carry capacity/strength to move, lift or push obstacles aside will literally save lives.
3
Just googled them. I love those amped up, semi-stealth 4th generation fighters in anime. They have so much more character than clean sheet 5th gen fighters.
3
@joshburke4083 True, Russia is a different story. Although, it's unlikely America would go to war with Russia directly, even if Russia invaded the Baltics, the war would probably be localised to that location. I don't think they'd try invade American homeland like Red Dawn haha. Was that the Clancy novel? My uncle works in Moscow for the consulate, doing anti espionage sometimes. He's met Putin once, I can only go off his info, but Russians love money just as much as Americans... Although I do agree they'd be more likely to use a nuke, especially a rogue general, as they're underpaid compared to the Kremlin politicians.
3
Interesting. A Hovercraft dropping off armoured vehicles wiuld have more advantages also, especially speed.
3
This video was great. Never even knew navy guns could be interesting tbh.
3
The tracks make a vehicle almost impossible to have a V-hull. Any new vehicle would want mine protection, and that means dropping tracks for wheels.
3
Mirage 2000 or Mig-29 is the sexiest looking 4th gen jet.
2
@stephenallen4635 I was unaware that those who serve are in charge of procurement and geo strategy...
2
@heinrichmirgrautsvordir6613 because soldiers already cost a fortune. So why not squeeze more productivity out of them?
2
Yes! I still don't understand what the JSTARS really does
2
@joaovitorsilvagohl682 the Patlabor f-16s have thrust vectoring
2
Why is there water coming out of the gun @7:05?
