I was a sponsored skateboarder for many years when I was younger and kids would always tell me I'm so lucky because I had brand new everything all the time but then they'd see me walking with a cane after ankle surgeries, and I asked them how lucky they think I am now. I didn't get that stuff for no reason. I destroyed my body for it the kids don't see that part of it. They only see you with the photo in the magazine, but they don't realize what you went through to get it, and that you could barely walk for the next few days, because of the sacrifices you made.

  5.  @sw.7519  I couldn't agree more that it's very common to have young kids, girls especially, flock to me when I'm around their single mother. I actually gave up a friendship because of it. The daughters very quickly made it obvious they were desperate for a "dad" and I did not want that role at all and I didn't want them to get too attached so I stopped talking to the girl (after I found out she lied to two of the girls and told them they had the same dad when they didn't. 4 girls, 4 different dads, but she says to them only 3 dads. My heart breaks for the girls though, and yes they are living on government assistance).

How about just letting people say their piece? Why does everything have to be a confrontation? Just get someone’s perspective and let the chips fall where they may. And they do push back a little bit. How many times did they try to get an answer out of him about what he would do if he was Israel’s Prime Minister and he just threw a hissy fit right away. There is no good faith argument from someone like that. All you can do is try to get the most out of them you can and call it a day

They are still in the comedy world, and they are still trying to grow their channel and they absolutely are not in a place where they can start hard-core, battling really big names, and if they did, it would probably hurt them because people wouldn't want to come on the show anymore. It makes way more sense to just let people have some sunshine so they can dig their own graves. Leave it up to the audience to decide.

  16. I quite literally use people's opinion of JBP as a shorthand for their personality profile/intelligence. Almost nobody that hates him has actually taken the time to listen to him, long form, unless they have an agenda. People who are easily dismissive of him I know just follow their herd. You can disagree with him on things and that's fine, but to call him a danger or a bad person just makes you someone I don't want to be around. He can annoy you or you might just not really like him in general and fair enough, but if you find him worthy of protest or cancelling, then it says much more about you than it does him.

  18.  @thanksfernuthin  the problem for me oddly enough is that I'm truly open to all perspectives and I'm objective about them. That's how my brain works so I have a very hard time understanding why other people can't see the merits of things that they generally dislike, or why we get so polarized about things. I can't fucking stand Leftists but every single sentence that comes out of their mouth's that has some basis in truth or makes sense I will applaud. My opinion of them as a whole has nothing to do with my opinion of any individual thing that comes out of their mouth.

I notice they very rarely attack what I've said per se, they just insult me and don't address my honest question.

  23. That's because this channel is centrist, which is about the only place you're going to get anything that even approaches objectivity. There's so little of this out there it's frightening. I'm completely politically homeless, and I definitely feel like I don't have many places to turn to for information.

  24.  @alanw18  it’s not a trap at all. He was openly condemning the response, so KK wanted to know what he would’ve done differently. Imagine a wizard made him Prime Minister that day. What would he have done? but he simply refused to even engage on it. It was hard to listen to. He’s not at all interested in having an intellectual debate. He truly believes that in this issue one side is all good and the other is all evil. You can’t reason with ideologues. That’s the interesting thing about this whole conflict. Both sides are quite reprehensible. If there was an obvious good side and bad side, all the sensible people would be on the same side of the issue but that’s not what’s happened at all. I’ve never seen such a contentious issue across the board. That should tell you something.

  33. I'm only 3 minutes in but I'm extremely distracted by the insanely loud inbreathing noises from the guest. I'm really hoping they subside. *sigh *. 10 minutes in and i'm out. I keep noticing constant noises from the mic placement on the guest. Konstantin and Francis sound perfect, I but can't take the audio for the guest. You can hear the noise of his actual breath coming out as he's speaking, as opposed to just the words he's saying.

  34. This guy actually says that Tucker Carlson goes “all in“ on racism and whatnot. These claims are so preposterous that this guy should never be on any legitimate platform ever again. I’m very happy for these guys to interview Marxist and interview crazy racist, and all kinds of different people, but make sure those people are honest. nobody has ever dug up a single racist thing Tucker Carlson has ever said in his multi decade career so saying he’s all in on racists is just pathetic. He is on record many many times saying very bad things about racists and racism in general. This guy is an absolute clown. i’m actually irritated that he wasn’t challenged on that point because that’s a really serious accusation and what he was trying to back it up with was so dubious and disingenuous it made me angry.

That's the problem with this movement. People like me who are objective and don't give a flying fuck about anybody's ideology are the ones the environmentalist should want to reach, but they don't because we see that there is a certain amount of chicanery going on and that makes us sceptical of the whole enchilada. It's like the government's response to Covid, in America you had Dr. Fauci knowingly lying to people about masks, and then expecting people to believe everything else he says. If you want me to take you seriously, don't fucking lie to me. It's not rocket science. Don't sensationalize, don't use hyperbole, just come at me with logic and reason and I will absolutely side with you if what you're saying makes sense. Until then........

  36. I have been a fan of Bill sans “you people are all the same“ and I’ve listen to tons of interviews with him and I think in this interview he’s being a complete douche bag. I’m only 12 minutes in and he is irritated me three or four times now. I think he’s lost touch. He’s legitimately saying that people who are comics aren’t self censoring? That people in America aren’t angry? And then he’s being condescending with these guys who are trying to call him out on the self-censorship and he does dismisses it and then is really rude to them. Not sure what’s wrong with Bill this day but he was a complete asshole, at least in the first dozen minutes I’ve seen so far.

  38. Harvard discriminated against Asians during the admissions process. They admitted it. Court didn't care. It was allowed. Look at the case of James Damore. Nobody cared and Google was off the hook. THEY. DON'T. CARE. It doesn't matter that very often the powers that be will change the definition of words to defend people getting fired or being denied access to things. They will change the definition of racism or discrimination and then rule based on that. They don't care about objectivity. Over and over I've heard them literally saying that objectivity is bad and that you should always do everything to push a moral agenda. If you go on The View and say that you think logic and reason and pragmatism are of the utmost importance, I guarantee there will be pushed back and people will assume you are a right wing bigot.

  39.  @davidpowell3709 I disagree. You constantly hear his types in interviews blasting rational things simply on the basis that they were said by someone they dislike. This is extremely common in America at least. Canada too. I’ve seen so many side-by-side images of polar opposite tweets by the same source claiming the exact same thing as either good or bad based on who said it. A good recent examples is when Donald Trump said he wanted to not tax the tips from waiters. People on the left blasted it because it would lose tax revenue for the government, and then when Kamala Harris said the same thing not long after they praised it and proclaimed she was on the side of the working people. It’s absolutely disingenuous and morally bankrupt.

  40. His point is more about what we value, not whether the best are at the top is a good thing or not. Take a high IQ robotic scientist; they could not do the job a caring nurse does with special needs kids nearly as well as someone with an aptitude for it but considerably lower IQ. We put too much emphasis on strict processing-power IQ even though it's clear that some important functions of society run on a different metric.

Usually academically high achievers, but socially awkward AF and if I've learned anything in this world, it's that life is a team sport and you need to be properly societally socialized if you want to live a happy, successful life. Don't dismiss all the other parts of learning at school that go beyond test scores.

I was taking a simple online University class and I was afraid to speak up because I needed the marks and the incentive for me to stick my neck out paled in comparison to the incentive to just roll my eyes and make sure I pass the class. I didn't have to do pronouns though. I would've drawn that line. I can keep my mouth shut while you say nutty stuff but you can't make me do something I don't believe in. Period.

  47. Same here. It’s unfortunate that it seems like nobody is really willing to have an honest conversation about any contentious topic anymore. Try and find an honest conversation about the environment or Covid or any science for that matter, or about intersectionalism, or basically anything at this point. I don’t really have opinions on anything because I can’t find real information. It’s so frustrating. And here’s the thing everyone forgets: almost everyone has seen a news article about something they know quite a bit about, and those news articles never absolutely nail the facts. They always get some pertinent things wrong, so what makes people think that it’s not like that with every story? There’s always stuff we don’t know, yet we’re perfectly willing to have extremely rigid ideas about these things that we know next to nothing about.
