They see it as sacrificing other childrens lives, and that of their families. Especially brown ones. Which is the epitome of 'patriotism' to the nation that lives in their heads. Remember: Many of these people are in death cults waiting the world will end. They're called Evangelicals.

@Altinget That would be the RNC, their chief donors like the Adelsons ($220 million in donations alone) who maintain hotlines to the key GOP players, and their pet 'conservative think tanks'. Namely, the Heritage Foundation and it's minion Americans for Tax Reform.
9
@unclepatrick2 Every time Closed Captions has to display a Republican saying 'we're going to cancel entitlements', it should properly translate it to 'we're keeping all your money and skipping all the way to the bank'

If only someone had reminded Olly North of that moral, it might've taken some of the earliest winds out of the GOP corruption sails. Instead he protected a president instead of his country and set a precedent. He took a suspended slap on the wrist so Reagan could walk, and managed to grift a lifetime career of profits from it all. An ounce of prevention back then might've saved us a lot of traitors today.

OH, GOD how I would have loved to have Private Gaetz report to me after being assigned to my platoon. Peeling Taters (with a P-38 Can Opener) for KP is back, fellahs. As are blanket parties, Wall to Wall counseling, and Steel Wool Showers.

@oldementiajoe4914 Being intolerant of the intolerant is the very model of tolerance. You lose.

@joachimschoder Well it aint the white male thing that grates on me, it's the age thing. And I freely admit to being an ageist, even though I'm retired myself, and not white. Ideally, I wouldn't want any POTUS who was either under the age of 18 or over 65. Faculties matter, and matter more as the scale of power & responsibility goes up. Age =/= smart or wise. It means 3 things: deeply entrenched dogmatic notions about the world, a heaping spoonful of arrogance based on outdated anecdotal experience born of seniority, and forgetting what it means to have to get up, fight traffic to get to work, and come home exhausted from a day's real labor just to have to manage a family household and pay the bills on time in a paycheck-to-paycheck life. The Old are who have been calling the shots 99% of the time. And the problems the middle aged and young deal with are borne of both their mistakes and their need to be in charge. So f**k them. We can't read a younger room. Never could.

Oh to have the men in the white coats making house calls again. Free or not, they won't check themselves into the nut house.
8
He's only a joke if we can all line up and put the Punch back in the Punchline
8
I'm old enough to remember 70's Disco Biscuits & 80's "entrepeneurs". Can confirm: dude is on that booga suga.
8
@johno7617 I didn't vote Blue because I wanted to be led, I voted blue because there's a Trump/McConnell caliber gun pointed at America's head. This IS a democracy, free adults lead themselves. What I demand is representation. Team Blue isn't that, it's just less poisonous.
7
And they still can't reconcile that the 1st Commandment violates the 1st Amendment, so they ignore the problem
7
We should ask Cuba for permission to expand Guantanimo Bay to accomodate the massive influx of new, pasty faced inmates who see themselves as modern day vikings
7
He'll have to swear in on a bucket of the Colonel's Extra Crispy
7
Where's Tonya Harding & her police baton brigade when you need them?
7
Trump: Succeeded in his mission to make Nixon look good in comparison McCarthy: Doing his best to do the same for that OTHER McCarthy. And it looks like he might pull it off.
7
The power of stupid people in large groups. And, as Carlin predicted, they all had little hats. Unlike he predicted, however, get them alone and you don't see the universe in their eyes. You see a burning cross they plan to put in someone's yard at 3 AM.
7
At least Neville Chamberlain had the good grace to look classy as he shoveled appeasement policy manure
7
In case you were wondering, Lana Theis (R, naturally), of the 22nd Michigan State Senate district, is who pulled this crap. Bust out the tar & feathers, folks.
7
He's neither a kid, nor has he ever "rocked"

@PutinsMommyNeverHuggedHim Veterans are not a monolith. There are, unfortunately, those among us who think we are the Chosen Ones or More American because we served. Some do a tour, come home, and expect to be showered with shameless praise and discounts at Home Depot. Most of us, however, feel awkward being put in any sort of spotlight. I, personally, feel the label is supposed to be worn with quiet dignity, not smugly over your head like a neon sign.

Just think of what he does to his kid, much less his spouse. Abuse is a "pride" thing, and a legacy, to certain families. And the abusers instill that this is the way family is supposed to be in their kids, to justify it by normalizing it. "Family values". Exhibit A: look at how much black comedians bring up getting beaten by their mothers as if it were an inspiration. His Working Class Hero poseur rap is linked to his abuse-is-a-family-value birthright. He perpetuates the cycle.
6
Hey, look on the bright side: At least she graduated from FarmVille.
6
Texas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio. Weird how these states are always at the center of the most Un-American of things. All while spastically waving the flag in front of gun barrels they have pointed in the faces of anyone who won't do what they say.
6
Even sadder: he finished a full term and was allowed to run again So much for checks and balances.
6
"I will be the greatest pain in the ass to Joe Biden" You better have some long arms, lady. Because it's a ways to D.C. and you're not even another of fifty squabbling governors yet.
6
Party of the deadbeat dad
6
To anyone who thinks the Secret Service gets to refute Cassidy's testimony, let's ask ourselves: Why oh why would the President's Secret Service *cough SECRET cough* ever try to keep something damning about a President Secret from....Congress. While Congress is investigating the secrets of a President. That would just be silly....
6
How they never win an Oscar, I'll never know.
6
This is what happens when you make stupidity seem like a good-old, down home virtue. It's one thing to laugh at yourself for not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, it's another to demand at gunpoint that your brand of stupid be the norm.
6
Can we just refer to Santos as Boy George now, please?
5
Nothing feels more 'free' to these fine Noblemen than Scrooge McDucking through the stolen wealth of us Peasants, I guess

Master has given Dobby a Noose. Dobby is FREEEEEEEEEEE!
5
"Greatest threat to Freedom since the fall of the Berlin Wall" still has me in stitches. Guy shouldn't have a drivers license, much less be a governor
5
Remember the people you hoped would never, EVER show up to your party? Well, the GOP packaged them up in one convenient place for you.
5
**GOLLUM!** cough hack **GOLLUM!**
5
Leopards. Faces. Much eating.
5
They used to never come here at all. The fact that in recent weeks they suddenly showed up en masse with their same, tired, worn out script of copy-paste comments that even Microsoft Tay wouldn't use tells us that the GOP management has ordered their Propaganda Stormtroops to start loitering here.
5
I don't need Joe to lead I just need him to not destroy the country I spent 25 years and buried 5 friends serving I'll take a do nothing Biden over a do anything Trump 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. But if he happens to lead along the way, I'll salute that
5
And yet, despite this, never successfully removed a single bad president through any of our safeguards. America does not have Government of the People until we can prove that an election is not a 4 year unbreakable dictatorship contract. An example should have been made. Precedent should have been set.
5
There's only one problem: It's not true. An illogical thing to say. Recalling facts requires memory Making up BS requires imagination Not everything that sounds like wisdom is actually wise, kids.
5
Idiocracy was a documentary. They were just waaaaaay too optimistic about how many years it would take to get here
5
"We're not domestic terrorists" That's just what a domestic terrorist would say

in that race: every contestant is a winner.
5
If they had realized back then the kinda sh*t they're getting away with now, we would all be hunting rats to eat in a radioactive bomb crater of that Fury Road life by now
