The lesson from 2016 and 2008 is that party unity doesn't win the general election. Hillary Clinton did a better job of getting Bernie Sanders voters to vote for her in 2016 than Obama did getting Hillary Clinton voters to vote for him in 2008. But Hillary lost and Obama won. The lesson is that the change canadates have won the last 3 general elections because you need independent voters and non voters in the general election. Those voters will not vote for the status quo candidate. So a vote for Biden in the primary is a vote to repeat the mistake that gave us Trump in 2016.
