As the effects trail emmisions by a decade and half of all ff ever burned has been burned in the last 2 decades time ran out while the governments delayed action at 26 annual COP meetings.

@TheRedland284 while I agree we spend too much on those things in this case the state of Texas in the 1930s choose not to join the natural grid because they wanted to put profits over reliability. There where about 400,000 people in Texas who never lost power because they are on the western grid in the USA which requires their infrastructure be winterized. This is purely a failure of depending on corporations not government regulations. The citizens suffer and the entire country gets to pay for their losses but the billionaires in the energy sector hit the jackpot this is disaster caplistist at it's best.

@italy5153 it isn't a question of build quality no one designs for a months worth of rain in hours.
6
@italy5153 nope I don't care for city life at all. But you have a serious issue with the concept of climate change and normal design limits apparently. Not everywhere planned on becoming venice italy when they built their cities.
6
From an economic perspective all the crop land and natrual resources including lithium reserves in Ukraine it would be a great deal.
6
There are only what 3 or 4 nuclear power plants in Germany that have not been decommissioned already. This isn't a solution to the energy problem.
6
Following heavy floods brought to you by over a century of burning ff. There I fixed it for DW
6
@shadowlord1418 then only in select cases. The british definitely didn't give independence to all their subjects without conflict many Americans died to gain their independence.
6
@bill8711 or you could do like I did and install an off grid solar system. Mine cut my monthly bills in half. The home equity loan is literally half what the power company wanted before they raised the rates as I left. But you do you.
5
The only nuclear power plant the earth needs is located a safe 8 light minutes away and has over 4 billion years of proven continuous operation. We just need to finish building our collector network.
5
The problem with interest rates is globally all of humanity has hight debt burdens. Increasing the intrest on that debt won't help increase the resources available to the debtors to buy food.
5
Solar and wind is the cheapest form of new energy generation today.
5
Getting your energy locally will increase your GDP it is a huge part of your economy that is now domestic. So infact renewable energy is the answer not the problem. You only see it as a problem if you sell ff.
5
When using the products of the ff industry has changed the environment making it harder to transport those same products there is a message being missed by those worried about how to keep burning ff.
5
The entire GOP really. Look at how the Senate failed to pass any legislation that helped the American people get income needed to survive the pandemic. Look at how deregulation just crashes the power grid in Texas while making record profits for the power companies who caused the grid to collapse with their recklessness putting profits over reliability.
5
Only if the Supreme Court doesn't disqualify him under the 14th amendment
5
@MrAnonymous1515 wow the anti science is thick with this one.
5
8 Democratic senators and all Republican senators making $1054 per day just voted down $120 per day minimum wage by 2025. They feel that the current minimum wage of $57 per day is all the working class Americans should be paid. These senators literally make $1000 per day worked more than minimum wage plus benefits. Priceless
5
Me thinks bombing the port has more to do with the inability to ship good out of the bombed port
5
@ytcensorhack1876 you fail to understand that governments lack the ability to regulate companies that are too big to fail. I never said the people working in the banking sector where evil so don't put words in my mouth. I said they have leverage over governments and lack moral hazard because of their ability to hold the economy hostage and force their losses onto society. In 2008 we saw 6 million Americans become homeless which wasn't considered too high a risk to the economy but the handful of banks that owned that debt where allowed to merge into bigger banks their debt forced off onto the government. The result has been that they are repeating the same bad loans to the corporate sector now. We see zombie corporations in 2020 at an all time high as the banking sector extends them credit safe in the knowledge that the economy can't allow the bigger banks to fail.
5
Trying hard to redirect the problem away from the 100 companies responsible for the vast majority of all emmisions.
5
Power plants on H2 is crazy talk it is a very poor form of energy storage. There are countless better options to store electricity.
5
It the Republicans didn't put party over country the first time trump wouldn't have been president to play his role in the sedition in the first place. We will never forget how the Republican party put party over country.
5
It is only half what the last administration cut. So they still pay 7% less taxes then they did in 2016. This is neoliberalism laughing in your face.
5
Yup so take away the one that funds the other by switching to renewable energy
5
@Spartan-jg4bf the people in Texas blamed wind turbines for their outage when the gas plants froze too. If there was no renewable energy the demand for ff would be higher and the market price would be higher with more demand. You don't understand simple supply and demand when you blame the thing lowering demand for not lowering it enough to keep the price of a limited supply low.
5
@Leifthrasir really it is cheaper to hire someone to run a nuclear power plant and buying new fuel every 18 months than just letting solar panels sit out there in the sun on my lawn? Because my ground mount solar system costs me exactly zero dollars every day to operate so tell me how is a nuclear power plant operated at less than zero dollars per day because those are some pretty bad paying jobs for the workers and poor prices for the suppliers if raw materials to run the plant.
5
Wo Laiye unfortunately they just privatized the profits and socialized the costs onto the rest of the country. That is what declaring a national emergency means that we all pay for the barrons of industry to keep their profits from the last decade when we told them they needed to winterize their infrastructure.
5
They didn't stand up to trump they folded to the military industrial complex which bought them.
5
The last thing we need is a higher energy demanding means of travel as the ff era comes to an end.
5
It is a great time to have off grid solar it isn't a target in a war you would have to blow up each home to take down disturbed power.
5
So how do they calculate this base 15% because Amazon paid 0% last year in the USA after all their loopholes.
5
Wow you mean half a century of globalization has changed the power ballance globally??? Who could have seen that comming??? Oh right the working class who lost their jobs as the wealthy told us not to worry they knew better.
5
@barbarawarren9443 unfortunately until we get rank choice voting and the people's party the only alternative is the Democratic party which just voted to keep the minimum wage a starvation wage.
5
Ukrainian farmer "we will just tighten our belt a little" Funny considering the people in Africa and Asia are the ones going hungry and the Ukrainian farmers are sitting on food to feed half a billion people. Me thinks those farmers won't be the ones having to miss meals.
5
They don't need thoughts and prayers. We need everyone to step up and demand that the government force the end of the ff era and rebuild 100% renewable energy.
5
@algirdas6012 "we do these things not because they are easy but because they are hard" JFK. We need world leaders who don't look for the easy path in life.
5
What a win for the ff industry. Instead of spending this money on renewable energy and EV Germany is spending it on military hardware powered by ff.
5
Testing doesn't push your cases higher. A virus doesn't spread through testing.
5
We need to make the ff companies pay damages caused by the usage of their products.
5
Wow I don't remember the cost of goods dropping so much after the 2017 tax cut that gave 2 trillion back to companies.
5
@teetrevor putting random words together doesn't always from a coherent point
5
This story brought to you by the ff industry. Welcome to the new normal
5
What a great way to waste money on the most expensive form of new energy generation. Wind and solar plus storage will come on line faster at a lower cost
5
One more future stranded assets as the ff era ends.
5
@olivermj69 joyride into space for wealthy elite isn't human progress it is a waste of precious resources we need to insire there is a plant that supports human life for future generations. Solar panels wind farms and EV are progress for humanity.
5
If only Israel was held to the same standard of calling out the shelling of civilians
5
Time to block and mine the roads ahead of that 60 km convoy it is a soft target awhile it is bunched up
5
French farmers protesting last week northern Ireland in flames this week. Looks like 2021 will see the equlivant of Arabia spring happen in Europe.
5
There is little we can do except tell people not to throw out their cigarette butts. Sad that even with the country burning down we can't simply ban smoking which is hazards to our health and causing forest fires. When we are not willing to make that small a change in modern society we are doomed to take our place in the 6th mass extinction event under way.
