  18. re effect of marriage on happiness, this is more so for men. There is research showing that single middle aged women are happier than married middle aged women. However the opposite is true for men. Marriage brings different costs/benefits for men and women.

  23. For one thing, because we have laws & we should all be equal under the law. So what laws do we make? As examples, if there are laws prohibiting abortion this affects the reproductive rights & real lives of all women. If we make a law allowing men to self identity as women then this affects the safety & opportunities of all women

  29. We need to stop using the terms left and right now. Or properly define them. How did it come to be that some things like being pro uncontrolled immigration is left wing when it's so complex & disproportionately affects the working class? How did free speech get to be seen as a 'right wing dogwhistle'? The concepts of left & right have stopped people thinking independently. I live in a left wing bubble & I can't believe how bloody stupid the people around me are. They say to me 'I like Biden' & I ask why & they say idiotic things like 'he seems like a nice man' - the real answer is they like him because they are told to, because that's the acceptable view for their team. And they actually think they're thinking for themselves. It's so alienating

  34. Someone who drinks all day might not survive at all. I have worked in mental health care for many years and worked with many people who had such severe brain damage from drinking that they couldn't live independently. I have also worked with people whose first incident of mental illness was triggered by weed. Both have risks but alcohol has far higher risks to mind, body and behaviour when used in excess

  49. I am third generation immigrant. My grandparents loved our country (UK) & very patriotic, very appreciative of democracy & rule of law. The next generation went very lefty & guilt ridden about British empire, anti patriotic ...in favour of open borders etc.
