Because 1991 is what all the ex-soviet countries freely opted for. Yes russia too chose independence. Some Ex-Soviet countries joined a new Russian Federation. Ukraine, Poland etc not among them.

A professional liar. Ex-KGB

@bezdownunder5481 Worse this year, unknown before to most. Probably due to age of the I nstilation, but also because through out Russia many jobs, such as in this case maintenance is not happening with money and manpower going into the military. There is a shortage of farm hands and many of the young have left the country too.
3
A bit difficult when the USA armament industry has pushed for being the weapons manufacturer of NATO. For example 2023 Poland alone donated much of their older weapons to Ukraine and placed a $23.8billion order with the USA for new. Big business for the USA.
3
@Interglacial other countries maybe. However from today the US do not want Ukraine to buy any more US weapons. Trump said „no more money“ and not to join NATO. Previously the US money was for buying US armament and according to Trump joining NATO requires buying even more.
3
That is good to know. And definitely a benefit when election fever can run riot on such things. Or muddying the field. She has bestimmt topics of greater interest to the electorate that she needs to address. They want to hear about how she stands on Internal issues and of course the main focus is to debunk everything Trump rattles on about. A different more policy pushing opponent, would need a different campaign.
3
@tashaware6819 yes, and it was the Ukrainian element of the USSR that built them. Russia kept the codes. Ukraine did not want or could not afford the maintenance to keep them from becoming unstable, so were not worried too much about passing them on to Russia. Peace in exchange seemed a good deal at the time!
3
Because Storm shadow was a joint venture with France. They need to get their heads together and finally release the stupid restrictions.
3
Not all bad fir the USA. In effect most of the money stays in the USA. These loans to Ukraine have in part reduced US costs in storage and inevitable decommission of aged US-military equipment. Giving cash towards the more Moden replacements for your own. Production giving employment and tax revenues to the states these factories are in. Plus for decades the US armourment industry has increasingly encouraged other NATO countries to buy from them (revenue for the USA) rather than developed their own (competition). And it worked. Poland for example has put in a huge order just last year. If the USA presents the largest manufacturer of certain items, stands to reason they are the first call when stuff is urgently needed.
3
@yudhihartadi6636 and they voted for independence in 1991.
3
He is pissed of with NATO because he asked why he had not been invited to join soon after he took up presidency. He was told NATO does not recruit members, they ask to join. And it has to go through the process. He made it clear that considering the importance of Russia he expected to be taking into NATO on his own terms and not have to wait in a queue like all the minor countries. Hence not invited and not officially applied to join. As a previous podcast said, Putin sees himself as a too big a player to talk with countries he sees as insignificant. He is unwillig to get around a table with Zelenskyy. He wants to hold talks ONLY with the big boys present, ie the USA, which he considers his equal. And yes, waiting for the lightweight Trump.
3
The connection? Another issue as mentioned in Dugin’s manual for the Russian Generals. “foundations of .geopolitics”. Reclaiming soviet influence areas. Break up of the European Union, stoking unrest in the Near East (Arab, Muslim and Israel) Promote internal disturbances to weaken power of the USA (- states promote riots along race lines) He mentions inflaming uprisings and rouge states in Africa too. I forget what the 1997 books says about managing Australia and the Far East. In general it is abiut undermining democracy worldwide. Putin has followed several chapters of this book already.
3
@oliverhiestand7098 Maybe the version Germany is transferring to the U.K. is of better use there for some military reason such as can be fired from further away and/or from ships ? And the ones the U.K. are to send to Ukraine more suitable for their use? Pretty sure they will have their reasons. As for the bridge. I had the impression early on that they felt the bridge needed to stand as an exit path for the occupiers when Ukraine reclaims Crimea when it can then be destroyed. Things have likely changed since then though. I am confident they will find a way to bring it down.

I am wondering about the effects of any heavy metals or other chemicals settling in the agricultural land and waterways. If these poisons enter the crops they grow there, or how long it will take before the pollutants in the soil disperse.
3
Saw the first part. Great.
3
There are several sightings, and two videos taken in Russia. One near the eastern boarder. Other media has speculated that Putin may be considering placing them as boarder protection along their eastern. Boarders to then free up their Russian guards to be used against Ukrsine.
3
Miners, unions and steel workers for me brings to mind Poland’s Lech Wałęsa.
3
@nenadmitrovic3469 Seems my previous reply was deleted. So will now only say: there is enough evidence to contra your claim. All for the tribunal to reveal.
3
In Europe we do work together on such projects. The Tornado was a collaboration. Germany, Britain and Italy I believe. France and Britain have developed aircraft together. Our aircraft carrier has US plaines on it. Is the USA going to sell its most up to date to other nations?
3
Why were the Wagner Warriers formed, financed and weaponised by Putin in 2014 in the Donbass, Ukraine? To commit underhand crimes he did not want to blemish his official regular army with. Putin‘s long term plan always was to take Ukraine, then Moldova etc. he wanted to back track the 1991 vote for Independence that. Russia too embraced at the time!
3
One dimensional view.

Usually a report needs confirming from more than two reliable, preferably opposing sources. In war it is Common for Information to be restricted. Anything endangering the troops, or that would pre-warn of a sting operation for example. There will be a certain amount of massaging the truth on the battlefield I would imagine. Things that could dampen spirits at a critical time. Anyway, it is not required that every little detail should be shared in real time. Those in the thick of it deserve more respect than that. Press releases followed by journalist confirmation. A bit more difficult in Russia though with state run news and independant journalist either banned or locked up.
3
@williammorris584 of course they are outnumber. Take a look at a map. Russia has the largest landmass of any country on Earth. Much larger than the USA. They have been importing troops/workers from Afrika, India etc to make up for the loss of manpower in general and now with the NK weapons they have imported tens of thousands of NK troops. The fighting has been between Russia and their allies masses and far fewer on the Ukrainian side right from the very start. Hence Ukraine has had to fight smart rather than senseless slaughter attacks.
3
The med iteration is surrounded by cities built by various previous occupations. Moden day Turkey and Italy could make claims to towns in Tunisia for example using your reckoning. The Romans built roads and founded towns in most of western Europe (ie Colchester). Most big cities in Europe have a multiple of ethnicity origins. As your city building in Ukraine was a result of colonisation, that logic gives Spain and Portugal rights over big chunks of South America? What could modern day Greece or Egypt re-claim? We know Putin likes to re-write history books to claim “Ukraine does not exist”. But looking into it Ukraine was a place before Russia even existed, so let’s stick to the present day shall we. Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, Latvia etc are ALL individual countries and have jurisdiction over their own land TODAY.
3
That Slovak statement makes me worried about the EU. Orban is already using Hungry’s membership to try scupper EU’s support for Ukraine. These Russian friendly countries could be planning taking over EU’s direction. Russia has already exerted influence on eastern German (Ex-DDR) politicians. This Irish politician story could also fit this spread of Russian Influence. Putin’s. Tactics were always long term. Example: the insurgents placed in Ukraine 2014; the tactics used to keep presence in Moldova etc. Both Trump and Putin agreed on wanting to weaken Europe. For Trump the commercial power; for Putin, as we now see, the political and military strength. They win via creating discord and Brexit fits in there. Farage uses Trump tactics!
3
And he said he was once prime-minister and now foreign minister, so it shows they fully agree with regular voting and democracy. Unlike The power hungry despots around that are trying tooth and nail to hold onto dominance in their roles.
3
@Hereford1642 military aid and domestic politics are too separate things. Ukraine exports the grain, it is the shippers and non-Ukraine ports that need to find the money to forward it on. Yes, this is where it needs to be sorted out, but maybe because they would rather ship their own grain than pay for Ukrainian grain to be shipped? It puts up the prices, so should make home grown and Ukraine imports equal in value, this is what needs sorting. But this is a whole other issue than providing ammunition and armament for Ukraine to repel this aggression. The Polish people know this. They know first hand of Putin’s oppression and by neighbouring Belarus. The people may be a bit tired as they have helped and harboured Ukrainian Refugee families from the very start, but are still the biggest supporters of Ukraine, considering the alternative!

Agree, she has guts and determination. Probably bounced off the tenacity and determination of the locals she encounters. Admiration all around,

He does plenty of research. He is not simply a parrot.
3
Leaving clear tracks in the snow.
3
Or David versus Goliath.
3
@marisabenson1222 their president does not have a majority. Those bringing this ruling are the ones that have more clout, and probably back handers from Russia.
3
Things got pretty dark for the winning side too in both world wars. Some things for the good of all just have to be achieved.
3
Azov is an area, and it gives its name to an extension of the Black Sea. Look up Azov Sea. Why not research why Putin‘s mercenary are called the Wagner Warriers. (Hitler‘s favourite composer)
3
@JohnCSmith no, it is being reported elsewhere too. Russians are still hovering, but Ukraine’s forces have cleared them out of at least half. Guess it is still ongoing.
3
@todd1770. He said that to defuse the situation. There are Interviews Putin gave since that show him being asked about preferring Biden and the Russian reporter was laughing, with Putin thinly disguising his grin. Then later the Russian late TV show were discussing the Harris/Trump debate. They spoke about the Russian sourced suggesting a bias towards Harris, then all five laughted and said „ and the Americans are so stupid - they woud believe that.“ anither dais, „Yes, they are soneasily fooled“.
3
Oh no. Not lots of biggly. Please no.
3
Russian Military expert Oleg Glazunov? Best let him keep wondering.
3
Doubt it.
3
They have one pretty new tank, that is so modern and impressive it is only allowed out for Moscow Parades.
3
They all have their roles.

I am thinking the opposite Don. Putin wants discord. He not just welcomes but knows he is creating friction amounts the new “friends” he is visiting. Putin wants crisis and wars, that way he feels he will stay relevant. China claims to want peace (they worry about their future international commercial transactions) They agree with Putin that spreading democracy with open free media coukd be seen as a soft power threat to their dictatorships, but they also apprechiatte that they need free passage through the Uez Cann Al etc. they enjoy the openness of other countries, protected by the many ciuntrues of the .west. Xi may have underestimated Putin’s dedication to stirring up governments - starting with bribery, developing dependency then cashing in with threats of guilt filled fear of disclosure. Even internally I am sure Putin has stuff on ALL of his aids, the ones he gave power through favours. This is so he can dismiss them at any time when he feels the need, or they may be becoming too influential.

Sabateurs will use anything to hand. There is a rumour that the French used as Labour to build bunkers along the northern coast by the occupying Germans added sugar to the cement mix to make it weaker. I do not know if this was true. We were on rations in the U.K. so I suspect sugar was very expensive at the time.
3
Sticks and stones ….
3
They record this Monday to Friday. There are no updates over the week-end.
3
What is there to report? Ukraine is withdrawing to behind their fortifications and the Russians are going forwards to fill the gaps. Three hamlets so far.
3
South East of Kharkiv.
3
Avdiivka, Donesk is further south. Draw a line direct North from Mariupol.
3
Russia is a big place and they have used Aeroflot planes in the past.
3
@davidshapiro292 we no longer live in the Middle Ages. A “boarder” suggests there are two (or more) involved. It could be that one country wants to split, or two countries want to swap aras for administrive reason for example, but there is a discussion, an agreement met. One bully country cannit just walk accross the boarder and declare, “this land is now mine” Zelenskyy did March 2022 offer to give those regions the vote on if they want independence from Ukraine , but Putin ignored him because he had lied about his true intentions and at the time was not interested in a dialog with Zelenskyy.
