  11. There are women in the army in Ukraine. Recently I watched a program where a women soldier had pioneered a program of designing uniform more suited to the female body. She said, when they first joined it was impossible to find anything that fitted. Body armour etc. there is a lot of innovation going on in Ukraine . War and dia situations make for creative minds.

  12. I disagree with your Aussie observer. I think Putin knows too well that they want to be free of Russia. He cares not what they want. He has spent over 20 years planing on gaining that land back. Has used insurgents, misinformation and his private armies to spread mistrust and to csuse an uprising in and around the Donbass area. There is a small group in the eastern areas that have had enough (putin aggitated battles) they do not want to be ruled by Ukrsine or Russia. They know too well of Russian brutality.

  18. @51madmitch Nepal is stepping in to prevent more of its citizens being drawn into the Russian/Ukraine conflict. They say around 100 of the approximate 200 that joined the Russian army have gone missing. They are demanding Russia pays compensation to the families of those that died wearing the Russian uniform. Previously reports said their was a lump sum paid to the family on enlisting to fight for Russians from the poorer areas, then a comparably good salary for those while on the front. Assumedly this meant less costs to Russia should they “go missing” die soon on the front line. So does this also apply to foreign recruits too? Remember the father from one of the African countries asking the press how his son, in Russia on a scholarship, was found to be in an Ukrainian prisoner of war camp? And now refugee families being told they will be deported if their men folk do nit join the Russian army.

  24. Francis, I take Putin’s remark re in future better health care to mean, distance re fear of the COVID virus. To distract from the more probable reason be fear of being poisoned. I noticed that in Saudi Arabia or the UAE he was not that bothered about keeping germ free! So only Moscow seems to be that unhygienic.

  25. Seems to me Orban considers Ukraine cannot win this war and they want to be on the ‘right’ side of Putin if and when. As a EU member with all their western military equipement friends to share info with Russia? Recently a (possibly Russian fan) boasted that Hungry was the only EU country doing well economically in comparison. If so, they would move from being a subsidiaries dependant to being a net contributor to the EU monetary pot. So doubt Orban woukd want to claim that to keep the finances floweingbfrom the EU. I believe they are takers of Russian oil, so hold the short term view that with winter approaching being friends with Russia is their main concern. So sad that they are such shallow thinkers. The bribes their leaders are getting tying them to Kremlin bullies will not bode well for the citizens of Hungry in the future. Are they counting on another ‘rescue package’ on par with the one with Ukraine for their future? Not do sure, after such betrayal the West would be so willing anytime soon.

  34. Trump has said a lot worse. No hesitation in criticism of our London mayor for example. Main trouble is Trump can insult whoever he wants, but holds a grudge against anyone that exercises the same degreee of „freedom of speech“ as does his Twitter/X pal. No he shoukd not have used such bad language in public, but neither should Trump. If only by being extra super polite back gives a much more satisfying result!

  39. They have no ambitions to „take“ Moscow. Imbiss Putin with the imperial ambitions. As long as Putin keeps sending in new troops, Ukraine feels obliged to send then on their way out. Ukraine only wants the Russians to go home. Ukraine wants the independence they choose in 1991 as do all the other ex-soviet countries that voted separation from Russia back then.

  40. Putin’s plans for Ukraine are nothing like the neutrality enjoyed by Austria and Switzerland. No plans for free votes by the citizens of Ukraine. The Putin approved replacement for Zelenskyy was primed and ready to be inserted by the Kremlin back in .February 2022. And Putin has since confessed that he does not consider Ukraine as an independent country, or even as a separate country.

  43. @uku4161, exactly. Putin is now using Donkeys in the supply chain for the front line. He is sending injured troops on clutches back to the front lines (presumably the tactic is they die in exchange for discovering the line of fire) instead of sending them to hospital and/or on leave to recover. Take note Trump supporters, this could be a great way of saving pension and health care money! I bet Putin did not mention any of this in their special telephone tête-à-tête meetings.

He knows he cheats (praised Putin for writing 4 obasses into Russian ownership - without conquering them in 2022). Said he was clever! Trump feels appearing in friendly comoany of the „big“ players is what proves he Is „big“. Imsge is everything. Trump does not care about right or wrong. He believes everything Puin says. All of Trumps remarks concerning Ukraine are Putin’s misinformation as if direct from Putin’s mouth. Putin said in 2022 that Zelenskyy was not the legit leader because he did not want to deal with him. He had his own choice ready to take over in Feb 2022.
