The Swedish armed forces is 100% only interested in the brains, the physical and mental fittness and a team supporting initiative taking attitude of the teenagers tested for conscript training. What the conscripts body looks like under the uniform is only interesting to the outfitters and, if there's any medical misfortune during traing, to the armed forces medical staff triaging and treating it. The conscripts are traditionally adressed by rank, family name and service number anyway, so pronouns are a squad/platoon level matter between peers unless someone gets harassed, and romantic preferences are a private matter in the same way as pronouns and religious beliefs, harassment gets investigated and harassers get transfered with docked pay and demoted or dishonourably dismissed and handed over to civilian court system for criminal charges if there was more than misdemeanor insults and slander. Anyone that doesn't meet the phys or mental requirements of any position doesn't get assigned to serve and is either removed from the roster completely or shifted to the civil service mobilization roster.

master mariner and the Swedish vehicles looks to be getting Spike ATGMs in the future
4
Been there shot that, set a VW golf wreck on fire 😁
4
It can also fire a homing top attack EFP round with or witout rocket booster at up to 8km...
4
@wadadli4sun nice I did my conscript training at P18 as a signals specialist in a Tgb 1321 (Mortar battery control vehicle)
4
@anordman9659 as far as I've heard, once the Bertil was upgraded to Cesar including the fighting compartment air conditioning unit, they were just as loved by our UN volounteers in Liberia as well as both Danish and our Swedish contingents in Afghanistan.
4
Here we observe a brass band of the Brittish armed forces performing a cantabrian circle skirmish formation in three dimensions without horses.
4
keith moore how is the m60 better than the FN MAG in any way shape or form?
4
@adrianrubi5012 eh... there are non desintegrating steel belts for 7.62×51 NATO GPMGs too... namely the old belts designed for the mg42 with a redesigned matched pair of end links allowing infinite length belts in 49-rnd increments. And those 49 round belts are linked using a cartridge to lock them together and thus empty belts fall away on their own as that locking cartridge is chambered. Also, the reason eastern bloc countries keep using the PKM is economy, availiability of ammo stockpiles and established supply infrastructure along with the fact that the PKM itself is good enough that the cost of switching to a mostly equal nato caliber MG just isn't worth the logistics costs or retraining efforts.

@ShahjahanMasood that's fine, my comment was made to point out the hyperboly in the comment you replied to that tried to portray this conflict as a continuation of the early 20th century genocide which afaia has nothing to do with that historical atrocity regardless how much turkish nationalists may want to finish what their ancestors failed to do and what the current regime are trying to do to the kurds.
4
Papa Cap for Oh-shit moments it's fully sufficient with two direct fire 120mm HE followed by two 120mm smoke. While it won't kill a tank, it will most definitely shake the crew about enough to get away and relay a fire mission for STRIX to the covering AMOSs of the other platoon of the same company.
4
And when the DU round deflagrate it's way through a target, the residual uranium contaminated dust produced by the reaction is light enough to catch on the wind and get inhaled by anyone up to half a mile down wind... On top of it's inherent chemical toxicity as a heavy metal.
4
No, because that would make military defence impossible. As attackers tend to not care about conventions like that anyway... Ergo why the US never signed, and neither did the Soviets.
4
@defencebangladesh4068 Sweden isn't a small country either if counted by surface area, especially compared to other European countries.
4
@nikolaivasilev7371 do you really think anyone belive your FSB maskirovka?

Arc of fire. A howitzer fires in a long flat arc that drops to roughly 45°-60° angle from the horizontal at the target end. A mortar fires in a parabolic arc that comes down at 85°-89° from the horizontal, denying any use of vertical cover like trenches or stone walls where the angle of incoming regular artillery still allows infantry to take cover by laying down next to vertical objects.

I've never seen it IRL, but I still love it since I first played an A-10 simulator on my Apple power Mac back in the mid 1990ies. It's just something with the bulky, agressive shape, that looks as if it shouldn't even fly, combined with it's insane capacity for attrition sorties.
4
@ZZZ2573 if you are going to lie, at least do it in an entertaining way...
4
Roflmao XD
4
That's a lie and you know it. You wouldn't be so paranoid that your troops calls for T-62s or better tanks every time they spot a CV9040 if it was as bad as you try to claim🤡
4
This mortar system uses regular howitzer shells fitted with a detatching tail holding the propellant, likely to save costs for training ammo (indicated by baby blue shell paint)
4
Oof... TKO...
4
The sick part of it all is that copyright law rests on reverse burden of proof which is fubar. Eg, judged guilty until proven innoncent...
4
I still prefer Archers ;)
4
Then there's the Bandkanon 1 with a 14rnd 155mm shell burst in 45sec
4
@Eliaber1231MC well... neonazi population counts will never present the same results as factual counts.
4
@Bialy_1 Sweden had a 90mm recoilless too prior to y2k, it was optionally mounted on a two wheeled turntable carriage but primarily used from purpose built Volvo PvTgb 9011 pr PvTgb 1111 (unarmored 4x4 tank destroyer cars) or Hägglunds PvBv 20** unarmored tracked terrain vehicles.
4
Nah, i call your fake chicken cat and raise it with my own chicken sphynx... ;)
4
@1IbramGaunt and an MBT can carry a much more powerful and reliable APS than any light vehicle can.
4
Field gun howitzer is a role description, not a size description. NATO standard artillery is 3mm larger in caliber diameter. (155mm) Effect on target is identical for 152 and 155mm shells of the same type and fuse behaviour. Field gun=direct fire, flat trajectory Howitzer=indirect fire. Red army: guns more accurate in direct fire, conscripts cheap and plentyful, crew losses acceptable= put artillery on dual role carriage.
4
I'm thinking that it won't be long until we see a Switchblade variant launched from 12cm mortars with higher max airspeed, extended time over target and local ECM to disrupt target communications and APS sensors while spotting for the mortars and heavier ordnance further back.
4
Icarian could it be because they didn't use it against actual tanks?
4
But are those wheeled competitors able to handle terrain that even tracked vehicles often get stuck in?
4
Thank you for this nugget😁
4
It's always around infantry as it's an IFV
4
JohnGoodman Twerking indeed, humans are very clever animals, but oh boy, people are window-licking stupid in any random group larger than a dozen or so people
3
Matsimus yup, the biggest flaw of the CV90 IFVs.
3
How to say you didn't watch the video at all in so many words...🤡

Awesome to hear! The only old lady warbird I've had the priviledge to go aboard was a PBY Catalina. But last summer, I also got the priviledge to manually assist to realign the DC-3 known as Daisy for departure at a local airshow where I had volounteered as part of airside security when the airforce base hosting the show had petitioned my home guard militia unit for extra security staff. Daisy was one of the planes dropping airborne over Normandie during D-day -0.5 and over Holland during Op. Market Garden. After the war, she was sold as a civilian airliner to SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) She did however, return to Normandie to drop reenactors with her surviving sisters during the 75year anniversary of Op. Overlord.
3
@MrLapidary and a good one at that :)
3
@notaveragecr6041 ehh, how did you get that notion?
3
@blyatman7244 afaik, Russian 152mm standard is pretty much identical to western 155mm However, the Warsaw pact countries always had a greater percentage of their armed forces in the artillery branch in the "quantity has a quality of it's own" philosophy. And more barrels=more shrapnel on target.
3
There isone type of artillery that's ideal for urban combat, and that's mechanized mortars, either breech or assisted mechanical muzzle loaded.
3
Legion is almost right, it's a towing eye. The hook is on the vehicle.
3
@nametag4277 all is fair in inter-branch rivalry ;) /Mortars rule!
3
@bluegent7 same with christianity and every other religion...
3
@RiderOftheNorth.357 lol! Though the most common mortar round used by Swedish 120mm mortars is a tripple mode fuse default set to air burst with impact and delayed impact burst as alternatives. Delayed impact is for urban/dug in targets protected by tin, tile or log and sandbag roofs.
3
The 40mm/L70 is also getting a bit long in the tooth, it's only modernized 1936 tech after all. And the reason the 40mm/L70 was chosen for the domestic IFVs is mainly that we had several hundred of them lying around as hopelessly outdated towed AA guns in cold war mobilization stockpiles, with HE ammo to last for up to a year of constant delaying actions against part of the red army if the cold war ever got hot... And thus it was cheaper to stick those guns upside down in IFV turrets and use the ammo that way instead of scrapping barely used and well maintained guns and ammo. To eliminate the need for atgms at the time, an APFSDS round was designed and adopted with the capacity to punch straight through the front glacis of a T-55 and any other soviet tank from the sides.
3
To make it shoot quickly, yes.
3
It's a shame Turkey has no idea of how to properly use tanks in combined arms warfare... Unless they have retrained since they threw away perfectly fine Leo2A4s in Syria, I predict another huge waste of lives and machines... Which is kind of on par with theocratic totalitarian dictatorships...
