given how much enforcement against broadcast transmitting you have covered, it is amazing that those who have the rights to it want to give it up.

The ambassadors residence can be identified from makeshift repairs using the tin foil from ferro rocher wrappers
54
prob frustrated due to the relgious restrictions in life

That report is a genius of corporate sales pitch with enough technical info to baffle most financial decisions makers and to inform the experts appropriately. Wonder who the client was , and what they were trying to achieve long-term ? Mil or Mobile Comms ?

An amount of the intelligence Pakistan has is more about some of the other places of interest (Tripoli for Libya for example) A lot of the messages seem to be the "dear diary" confirming arrivals and departures. Pakistan is relatively friendly to the UK, slightly less so to india and is a useful crossroads point for some other things.

So do we now know the secret of the true use of Stonehenge ? ( would love a April 1 cross over with the whitewicks on this !)
8
wrong channel its MI5, not M5

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Poor Little Pip Pip He Sounds Quite Like Very Very Sick Sick

Pedant note , you said "City of London" , most (not all) you show are in City of Westminster ( a few spill into Camden and other odd boroughs). Actually an analysis of the City of London Police . a law somewhat to themselves , might be interesting dig for comms and their specialism in fraud work.
6
The most tricky place , argueably, might be Police Service of Northern Ireland.
5
TBH the old terraced houses looked bigger, and better, than the replacements .
5
I always thought the law was drafted so that criminals (such as those nicking stuff from Lloyds bank deposit boxes) could hear when the rozers were on their way - or had fallen for any red herring leads the criminals may have laid
5
somewhere I have a couple of blue ericsonns, goodness knows where
4
The ice cream one I keep hering . must be station 99
4
Given this building is must like many other buildings of this style in London does CIA / MI5 own similar to have as mock up. It is a bit like the Iranian embassy (think theirs was bigger) Did SAS for that - I think they acquired use of next door but wonder if there are training copies in military bases (or hired in Film studios under the guise of making a TV program ... !)
4
somewhere in my life I have a postcard of the GPO Tower in London done in the "holgraphic" 3D format of the late 1960s (Shell used the style for collector cards of wild animals ). Dont know if I can find it
4
Hans, Nezzen, and BompsADaizy, we are going on a Cruise ?
4
On YT are some of the late 1970s /80s documentary "Scotland Yard" a couple of episodes covered the Flying Squad on a stakeouts - although filmed for TV there was a lot of radio traffic - which presumably was encrypted. At one point they were worried the gang had a scanner for picking up radio comms (was it encrypted then?) they also moaned at times "The Voda's arent working" which presumably was a Vodaphone network - mobile phone ?
4
Still worth doing for the practice too though
4
@RingwayManchester In fairness they are grey, as most of the sky in manchester is. plus tree line has grown
4
Neither, it was Meadowhall, Sheffield in its five min of sunshine for the decade
3
Thought this was going to be about Bob Marley
3
Yes it was sunny in lockdown when we couldnt go out, as soon as we could it started raining again
3
Dunno why you had difficulty working out what the antennas were for, there is helpful labeling in the vid at 1.45. Expresso, Cappuccino. Latte, Tea, Hot Chocolate.
3
In this context pirate means anyone transmitting without the necessary licence authority for that frequency
3
Depends which bit, I think some of the roads embassies are on are within the historic boundaries of royal parks and thus bound by the bylaws and similar related to them
3
Not sure about a device that has a Fun knob on it
3
Doesnt OMD's Dazzle Ships LP have tracks of stations (not nec number ones - Radio Prague is one ,but This Is Helena is from a number station ?)
3
Have you in the past done call-signs for normal radio stations / test transmissions (I suppose so many worldwide its too big an individual project)
3
The handwriting on that investigation report looks suspiciously like my fathers, I dont think it is (he was not that clever), but it is what I would call Civil Service (GPO) Standard.
3
The building , a problem with much concrete buildings is the thermal losses through walls, sometimes attempted to mitigate now with external cladding (see the changes on the 4 residential tower blocks), or changing the internal layout and the airspace heat pumps, which now appear fitted and with the internal refurb should last as long as the Tower of London .
3
Surely Piccadilly Radio WAS Manchester in the 1970s (as Capital was London , etc). Stations I got the feeling you had to be a student at University or Polytechnic to listen to (BBC Local Radio was for Parents, BBC R4 for Grandparents Radio 2 for Drivers). Is it better that niche (large niche in some cases) have their own full time stations to listen to now, (rather than some allocated time on the BBC networks or local independent/BBC ones ?) Has everyone really all gone fully national independent local now ( Virgin and I forget the other one ) was the licence to print money a myth from local ads for double glazing car sale discount furniture warehouses ? )
3
@RingwayManchester think someone wanted a full YT list of the songs. PS did The Goons or similar radio programs use similar ?
3
I am certain I heard pips and wheels in the 1960s on the home Pye multi-Short Wave receiver( mainly used to get Hilversum on Sunday Lunchtimes !)
3
Should have been a ferro rocher for every ambassador
3
Need to show this to the "unlucky tug" channel for tugs adventures, truth being better than fiction. Interesting kind of English is spoken on the MSC with a MancunianScouse to the fore !
2
bit of everything really, a lot to prove it could be done.
2
Ed Sheeran is going to use this in his next song
2
Did they borrow the local fire bridgade with its Dennis trucks and ladder equipment to assemble this ?
2
might be off your area , but what about the supposed USB-C Cables that have embedded transmiiter in them ?- allowing stealing of data over some kind of NFC/WiFi/Internet system ??
2
Small array could be a backup/ test or simply less powerful but detail at closer range ?
2
@lexington476 Yes, technically.
2
use of redundant sites for solar arrays seems a good idea
2
Pity our building demand requires robbing out such a natural landscape as high peak,
2
Now where is that chap from the GPO who closed down the Manchester broadcasters, wonder what his face would look like if he had to go round getting people TO broadcast.
2
What was the station that went Da-Da-Da-Dah -Dah-Da Daahh-Da ?
2
Actually thinking about the numbers stations. they are chess moves in the interdepartment international chess championships ( and anyone got a shilling for the meter and new pencil as the lead has snapped on mine ?)
2
@RingwayManchester could you say my radio is tuned to the frequency, but as they shouldnt be broadcasting I should be hearing nothing ? (were people generally prosecuted for listening - other than folk involved checking signals ?)
2
Have you done a review of the MI6 (?) Vauxhall Cross building's arrays of radio stuff ?
2
Any Fake number stations broadcasted ( like jamming but just to annoy other spies ?) or invented ones for records etc ?
