'Lienz Cossack Traitor' Yeah you might be right
1
In conflict only in terms of remit. Socialism in one country or in many countries. Both are socialist
1
Yes if we are going for historical accuracy more than common current usage then I am a classical liberal
1
@Fredrikschou I mostly agree, but you spoiled that a bit with your analogy. Yes, a hotdog does not contain dog (have you noticed it is one word and not two) - but National Socialism does indeed contain socialism (as does Italian Fascism). It may not be a type of socialism that many people like (nowadays) but it is a kind of socialism. It is far too convenient for the modern Left to 'No True Scotsman' its way out of Nazi associations ('Only Marxism counts brah') but what really takes the cake is their brazen attempt to label Nazism as right-wing.

Edited for minor grammar etc
1
@Fredrikschou Well again I don't think we are that far apart. I simply ask that the Left acknowledges that Nazism, Bolshevism, Menshevism, Fascism et al, all have a common ancestry whereas Liberalism, Neoliberalism are an entirely different species. I have thought that Capitalism and Liberalism, being birthed in the 18th century were the new idea, and socialism is just a repackaged version of the state controls everyone through its guild system and mercantilist foreign trade. The medieval period returns. I might enquire as to what you mean by 'socially' right-wing and how you can separate out social from economic policy. Every policy costs something
1
@silent_stalker3687 That's not etymology. Etymology tells us that 'fascism' comes from the Latin 'fasces' and Italian 'fascio' - which was used in various contexts such as to describe labour movements. If the context is not correct it's not etymology

They tried to assassinate him on multiple occasions
1
George Orwell wrote extensively on this
1
@TheImperatorKnight I saw one guy who I genuinely think was unable to understand that you were representing a position without advocating for it. He may not have been neurotypical
1
The Athenian democracy was a belligerent, imperialist power
1
@jayasuryangoral-maanyan3901 we have precious few decent sources for the 4th and 5th centuries. Attila teleports across the map
1
@perpetual_suffering1458 'Its beyond stupid to think hitlers main ideology was economic and thst he intends to unite society under the same class.' It's beyond stupid to think that all socialists want to unite society under one class. That's Marxism. Marxism does not equal all socialism. Ease up on your Soviet propaganda
1
And now tell me how Lenin felt about the provisional government in Russia led by Kerensky. You know, the legitimate one which wasn't formed by a Bolshevik coup. Cough.....
1
Please don't ask us to like and subscribe Lewis. Maybe get a wee pop up on the bottom of the screen instead if you think that will work
1
Does the civil war not count as a war in your mind?
1
Epic rant at the end there TIK
1
On the contrary, most of the manpower went to Centre and North - when Hitler found out he was incensed at Halder for doing this
1
Seems to have been at least partly inspired by War in the East 2 by Slitherine and 2 by 4
1
Atlee was so well-loved that we re-elected Churchill the next chance we got!
1
'but fascism depends on it and is very nationalistic while socialism is meant to be internationalist., I take it you don't class Franco's Spain as fascist then, as it wasn't exactly known for launching wars
1
I agree. A minority might oppose the Great Reset. Donald Trump for one
1
That may be a US term. In the UK a 'close' company is where there only a handful of shareholders, the majority also being directors. These are not public entities, because the shares are not listed for purchase by anyone
1
@thereligionofrationality8257 It's the same in the UK. There is little difference between the parties
1
@TheImperatorKnight Forget about downvotes - your videos on the politics of the period are what convinced me to pay you via Subscribestar
1
@zxbzxbzxb1 Opposition to lockdown measures is not the same as 'Covid denial' Interesting choice of word. It's usually religions who denounce their opposition as 'deniers'
1
@zxbzxbzxb1 Fair enough, just as long as we don't conflate the two. There is a disease spreading about, but it's not worth tanking the economy over
1
@orclover2353 Model was arguably the master at the defense in depth
1
Everything has something to do with economics
1
I quibble on your 99.9% The textbook I had at school had the wrong definition of inflation. That's a pretty core concept for an economics class
1
@samsonsoturian6013 Good, because it's only the really slow people who haven't figured this all out yet
1
By those standards the Arab world is much more capitalist than Britain has ever been
1
Totally fanciful. They could barely supply Rommel, never mind an actual Army Group
1
Nowadays we have many people saying that charitable food banks shouldn't exist and the government should feed people instead. Are you sure he was as far out as you think?
1
Famine in Ireland was caused by mercantilism, the opposite of free trade. Robert Peel repealed the Corn Laws after this and there was never a famine in the British Isles again
1
Lol
1
The EU springs to mind
1
'Commieservatives' is very apt Lewis. These people follow Trotskyists and don't even know it
1
He didn't kill enough Communists for one
1
@neieduardodepaula4556 it was actually formally known as Bewegunskrieg
1
Then they forced a coup on the provisional government and plunged Russia into civil war. FFS
1
I don't think you're right. If the Soviets had not been as ruthless, the Germans would have kept the war going longer. And in any case, the participants of WW1 were every bit as bad
1
@TheImperatorKnight Don't do it - for the reasons you've stated
1
Indeed, 'Laughs in Sicilian expedition of Athens'
1
The Soviets removed their Corps level command to try and 'solve' this problem
1
Indeed. But Hitler wasn't a fascist
1
@bitterindividualist5324 you won't regret it. Sowell is a great writer
1
@soulknife20 I just have mild interest in Austrian/Chicago economics
1
The OKH were quite disappointed in the Heer's performance under several aspects
1
Easy peasy. In the UK, a 'plc' is a public limited company. A 'Ltd' is a private limited company. We do things right
