It's not about Ukraine (with its ruined economy it's not an asset, but a liability). It's about Russia long-term security. Putin said that he didn’t need negotiations, he needed results. No more NATO expansion, no more NATO militarization of Eastern Europe, no more NATO attack systems in Eastern Europe, no more broken promises (not one inch eastwards etc.) He has a point, but US establishment doesn't understand language of reason and never keeps promises. The only thing that can bring US establishment to its senses is nuclear-tipped supersonic missiles that can incinerate Washington DC in 5 minutes. US establishment (as a retired serviceman, I was part of it) is so corrupted by decades of crazy dollar printing, that it lost connection with reality (as if Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yugoslavia debacles weren’t enough). Along with absolutely crazy domestic policies (the best example is that nobody really cares about curbing soaring inflation and ousting all Keynesian lunatics with their negative real interest rates from the Fed) this is driving America into the ground. American democracy with its checks and balances proved to be pretty brittle and was destroyed by bad money. I'm a patriotic American and it's all very sad.

With a catastrophic situation on the front there is an infighting between different factions of the regime . Well, it's a quote from The Time article. Zelenskyy top advisers say about him: “He deludes himself,” one of his closest aides tells me in frustration. “We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that. It is immovable, verging on the messianic.” One Austrian artist was in a similar state in 1945. Zelenskyy "achievements" to date: 500,000 Ukrainians are dead, 3x that mangled and crippled for life, half of Ukraine's population is living as refugees scattered all over Europe and Russia right now, they're drafting women because they've run out of men to kidnap off the streets. According to Ukrainian soldier interviewed by BBC who was one of the few who managed to survive Dnipro crossing slaughter: “The entire river crossing is under constant fire . No-one knows the goals. Many believe that the command simply abandoned us. The guys believe that our presence had more political than military significance. It's a total nightmare. A year ago, I wouldn't have said that, but now, sorry, I'm fed up. Everyone who wanted to volunteer for war came a long time ago - it's too hard now to tempt people with money. Now we're getting those who didn't manage to escape the draft. You'll laugh at this, but some of our marines can't even swim. There are guys who had spent just three weeks in training, and only managed to shoot a few times. I feel like I escaped from hell, but the guys who replaced us last time got into even more hell than us.”
