Nothing is more frustrating than when friends and family bring me their cars to do a brake job, tire rotation, or any repair then the first thing you need to do is remove the wheels and crap like this happens. 3 hours later and they are looking thinking they better go somewhere else if I can't remove a wheel. Ugh

  7. Respect my man. You actually put the plastic covers on with the clips and everything. Other would have just skipped it. You can't believe how many cars I see missing those plastic covers.

  10. I do that also. If it's beyond my basic knowledge I take to a shop and have them run the diagnosis, pay the $50-$100 but now I know the problem and can fix it myself.

  11. So, I was putting in a new serpentine belt on my 03 Camry, and I found my self flipping the belt around to get the numbers and letters to point out 😂.. Darn you Ray, you got me doing it now. 😂

  13. I agree, it wasn't intentional nor neglect. I would presume the owner got a lapse of judgement or got distracted at the pump then reached for the wrong Hose.

  15. That's a good chase. Yes, those are super common breaking points. Should be able to get a new after market board. I have seen some people solder them back if it's not trashed.

  21. I do that and I take it home and do the repair IF I am confident I can do the repair. I still pay shop time for diagnosis.

  27. I have done few of these engines. After couple you het the feel for it. Usually these valve cover bolts are very light torque, almost hand tight.

  28. That's how insurance works unfortunately. Ifnit wasn't for insurance body shops wouldn't be over pricing the repairs and less car get totalled for no reason.

  33. Normally yes. I use a shop for diagnosis if I can't figure it out and if I believe I can fix it I decline the service but pay the hour or two shoo time. Better than guessing and firing parts.

  35. Awesome video. Don't you hate it when 1 part in a kit doesn't fit? Had that happen on a timing chain for a Camry. Chain wouldn't fit on 1 sprocket. It's like the sprocket was off by 1mm. Ended up using the original Toyota one, no problem

  36. I believe even on the good videos on YouTube there's a lot of editing. They say he, here's the bolt, take it off, you can see for 5-10 seconds they are struggling, then all of a sudden it's off. Really? I understand they can't put that in for time sake, but at least say so. Doing an alternator on my V6 Camry, it was a nightmare reaching the lower bilts, yet, they zipped them off on the video 😂.yeah, editing.

  38. This is what I think. The owner swapped the O2 sensors plugs on on purpose, brought to Ray to diag and fix. Ray found the problem and fixed without ripping him off. Ray passed the test. Now he can do real work on the engine.

  39. I did a timing chain on a 2003 Camry I own with 282K miles. Needed it, the Toyota service manual said, drain oil and remove pan. YouTube said nah, just remove the 4 bolts holding the timing cover to the Pan the reseal when done. Yeah, after I was done and I did put a half tube sealant 😂 it still leaked oil. Next day, took the pan off, regasketed it and put it on no leaks. Lesson learned, follow the instructions

  41. Welcome to Toyota 2GR-FE. Beautiful engine, PIA to work on thebrear bank. But, you do enough of these it's like 30 minutes to strip it down. Although in only worked on the Camry V6, lot easier to reach than a tall highlander

  43. I had that same engine on my Nissan Xterra. That coil is a pain if you do it the hardway without removing the intake. I got used to it. instead of spending an hour messing with the coil or plug, took me exactly 15 minutes to remove the intake. No bruised hands either.

  45. You could use couple of cheap ramps to drive the truck or any other car on so it's not right into your face

  47. Many times I take the car to the shop and have them do a good diagnosis on a problem. Those are for issues I can't diagnose or want a professional diagnosis. I pay for it, $50-$100 but don't want to have it fixed there.

  48. All engineers need to intern in a shop for 6-12 months before they are allowed to design any engine. Bunch of idiots.
