@kimspence-jones4765 John Van Reenen is in a completely different league to Murphy he doesn't need to blog. There was actually a good article on him in the Guardian recently if you look it up. ( obviously I can't link here )
2
So how would you deliver growth then Murphy, untested MMT, or PQE, or the peoples bank of Murphy maybe? Taxing the the rich is a nice soundbite, but how do you actually do this. I mean, the big 4 professional accountancy behemoths have whole departments geared towards hiding wealth.
2
@asumazilla The lords should not be put to a popular vote. Some things should change for sure ( the name for one ) get rid of hereditary peers and Bishops but life peers should be appointed on merit, achievements, and the diversity of expertise ( as they already are ) but not a public vote.
2
@scottyfive4319 There should be some political appointees. I mean, who better to know and understand the system than those who have been though it. The Lords should be right across the board really as a proper system of checks and balances. Although I think it should be renamed to something like the "upper chamber"
2
@ Me too.
2
There are reasons we don't have electronic voting in the UK.
2
Wow, you completely skirted over what just happened this weekend with Starmer on the world stage. Not a single word. Really showing your anti-labour bias here Murphy.
2
And this guy isn't?
2
@ An awful lot of those 9 out of 10 didn't need it though. Huge amount of fake outrage over this for sure, a lot by people who usually don't give a crap about those on benefits.
2
Being anxious has always been normal, it's how we survive. However when your levels of anxiety are constantly overwhelmed it can turn into a General anxiety disorder which can become a real problem.
2
@downshift4503 Comments get removed from here all the time, it's annoying the way the narrative is being controlled.
2
@rattylol lol. As I said, there needs to be a lot more education and financial literacy on Stocks and Share ISA's in this country.
2
You can always read their manifesto.
2
Well this didn't age well. Can't wait for you to find a way to bash the actual budget. I mean, it was pretty positive overall.
2
Are you staying that there aren't any major criticisms of Keynesian economics, because you know that's nonsense right?
2
@Alex-cw3rz Milton Friedman for one.
2
@Alex-cw3rz LMFAO. I think we're done here. 🤣
2
That was 2024 and 2023 and 2021 etc then there was 2016, that was a big one.
2
@physiocrat7143 I'm replying to the original comment about NI.
2
@maria8809ttt Wow, you just cut and pasted a blog post from some MMT advocate like it was fact.
2
And I suppose you could just wave a magic wand and fix all of this overnight Murphy eh? Like some bloke at the kids football match shouting nonsense from the sidelines.
2
@ I'm aware, she has a masters in economics from LSE.
2
There are a lot of people frightened that Reform might get into power in the UK, myself included. You'd be an idiot not to be frightened.
2
@nikolaki He loves a good whinge for sure.
2
It's not nonsense at all. The benefits system needs an overhaul, it's nearly £350billion or the equivalent of 12.9% of the UK's GDP at present. The two things are not mutually exclusive as you seem to think though.
2
He can't.
2
Utter nonsense. FFS get a grip.
2
@12theotherandrew It has no meaning.
2
You could say the same thing about money ( if it's in the bank and not cash. )
2
@ Careful what you wish for.
2
@SarahWalker-Smith There are no rough guesses when it comes to market crashes. That's why they crash.
2
@SarahWalker-Smith Basically you can't predict a market crash.
2
@SarahWalker-Smith Market crashes happen incredibly quickly, markets tank suddenly ( due to all sorts of market and outside forces ) people panic sell and markets crash. So fast, in fact, that they're pretty much impossible to predict. Most people wouldn't know until it was too late. One could literally happen tomorrow. Sure you can do some due diligence and protect against a crash and even bet that it's going to happen and make a fortune if it does, but you can't predict when. All we know for certain is that there will be, at some point, another crash.
2
@SarahWalker-Smith What are you even on about. Lol.
2
@catherinemira75 It' s not a danger, are you for real here?
2
@PatSmith-d5w Seemingly OP doesn't even know what a masters from LSE is.
2
lol.
2
Read: The Anxious Generation. by Jonathan Haidt it'll give you a little more insight into why the tech industrial complex is so dangerous to children.
2
@riveness Current Labour government are tackling this issues too. Surprised ( well not surprised ) this isn't mentioned here.
2
That sounds like a quote from Liam Byrne's book The Inequality of Wealth. Have you read it, if not then I suggest you give it a look.
2
No they're not.
2
How is he dangerous, it's not like he's not in any position of power?
2
Agreed. To say "no you're not" about threats from outside military forces is nonsense. You just have to look at what's going on in Gaza or The Ukraine Et al. to see this. Bit naive that tbh.
2
YT deletes the comments, it's annoying AF.
2
The two things are not mutually exclusive.
2
Tories created that division, not Labour mate.
2
The fact that we haven't even had a budget and yet this guy is proclaiming Labour have no story is just revealing his bias realy. Stories need to be written before they can be told, even a child knows this.
2
@colinturner3607 Exactly. We need a budget before we can really say anything.
2
@ We're not already bankrupt. FFS get a grip.
2
@ Never said you did, I'm replying to another commenter.
