  1. I dont understand this Afghan relocation at all. I served 3 tours there and the fact of the matter is that these people dont deserve this opportunity. Take interpreters as an example, They were paid very well for "working" with the UK forces. They were in the majority untrustworthy and especially in the final years we spent much of our time wondering if they were going to attack us or dick us with giving information to the Tali's. As for our end of Afghanistan there, the country rolled over when we left in a matter of days, they didnt want us there, if they wanted our way of life they didnt want to fight for it! (See ukraine for real opposition). So I'm left saying this, they didnt want to fight for our way of life in their country, they instead want to come to ours where they dont have to work for it, or sacrifice for it, or maintain it. These people are parasites of the highest order. They are no friends of the UK I can say that much at the least. I especially detest our stupid politicians such as Tom Tugendhat, saying constantly that we owe these people a debt! WE DO NOT! Tugendhat makes great noises about how he was in Afghanistan and understood being in the forces, he must have served in very different places to mine and perhaps a different services to boot. He is a snake.

  2. The article as per usual was written poorly. The truth of this is far more nuanced and complicated than the BBC or the radio producer herself would be able to convey with any degree of simplicity and accuracy. The one bit of the article which made me laugh was the increased need for more blood suitable for sufferers of Sickle Cell Disease (which affects those from Africa or descendants thereof). The BBC puts this increase down to the SCD population just getting older, no mention whatsoever that we have imported more in the mean time.

  9.  @oldboygeorge7688  Dont know about this "we" you speak of here. "We did this" "We did that". Dont make me laugh. My ancestors worked tin and coal mines, as far back as any record goes. Most of them died young and I'm damn sure their lives were little better than any black persons perhaps worse. I'm fair sure the vastest majority of people in the UK had similar ancestry. Perhaps your ancestry may differ and wish to apply guilt, if so, do it for yourself and speak for yourself instead of the "We" you speak of.

  10. I'm from Ireland and joined the Royal Navy. 23 years full career. Grew up hearing about all the good and bad things about England etc. On the whole my education was very balanced about it all and here I am still proud of serving a great country that did more for the world than the useless, feckless, 90% of the rest.

  15. It looks absolutely nothing like the Navy I just retired from after 23 years. Why does the BBC insist on all of this bloody box ticking when its patently not anything like this in real life. If I were single and didnt have to put my family through the stress of home visits and knocks on the door I'd happily avoid paying the BBC tax. But not to be outdone, my 2 older sons who have their own homes dont pay for this rubbish.

Whatever treatment she thinks she ought to have received I do wonder if she would have gotten the same in say South Sudan or Uganda and then have the temerity to bring up "wacccistss" and how people should be treated.   18. I gave up on anything like overseas charity years ago having seen the "racket" it actually is from being in Africa with the forces. But when Henry made those comments I took as proof that they need to help themselves and change these countries on their own if the will exists.

  22. You are bang on here, my wife is a nurse lecturer in a busy midlands university, she teaches 1800 nurses a year split into 3 intakes of 600. I saw the most recent intake on a nominal list this week. Out of the 600 names, over 75% were recognisably foreign, mostly african and south asian, a scattering of eastern euro names. There are likely more that are Caribbean but the names dont give that away so easily. In any case, 75% or slightly more! That's just one course in the university out of many courses, out of the many universities in the country! This is a legalised disgrace! If dependants are also coming then so much the worse.

  24. That word brings to mind an experience at work in the NHS on Saturday just gone. The short version is that one of the south asian female colleagues was trying to call a set of results to a doctor in ITU, he obviously couldn't understand her for whatever reason, she immediately jumped to the conclusion that this was Racist. In a moment the rest of the gaggle of hens were all cluttering the area discussing this as truth. I just sniggered and carried on doing my work.

  28. Ive always worked, aside from a few months on the dole in the early 90s, I hated it. Other than that never been unemployed even through the rough times, I always did something. I was always of the belief that if someone is pulling dole they ought to be financially "encouraged" to do something to earn it. Having a job of any sort even while on the dole is far better for your mental health and it opens opportunities you wouldnt see otherwise sitting in your mums front room.

  31. I make a judgement on people individually, content of character type of thing from a bygone age before this one. I'm not racist but I am very angry that the mainstream media has made me feel marginalised and ashamed of being British in my own country. In the face of the Race Report and now this that Simon reports on, can we now PLEASE stand up to the MSM and government and say ENOUGH, the job is clearly done and now can we stop actively defacating on the majority of people in this country.

  32. Same here, I remember my schooling in the 70s and 80s which of course went into detail on the occupation and naturally the famine. However it was balanced and I also heard about the achievements and inventions of the British, many of which were contributed to by Irish people. As much as the famine years were a stain on British history I do not for one moment hold anyone alive today to any account for this, I am the person I am today for both the good and the bad. I chose to spend 23 years of the 28 I've lived in the UK in its Royal Navy. I married an English girl and have 2 sons whom I proudly bring up to know about Britain and be proud themselves, while not forgetting their Irish heritage. 2 islands more important to each other together than either realise these days.

  38. Surely Liberia isnt an "outlier" in this regard? There must many countries where citizenship is based on indigenous population regardless of colour, at the very least incredibly difficult to gain citizenship. I seem to recall that Saudi Arabia is something like resident for 25 years, speaks Arabic and converts to Islam.

I'm Irish myself, came here 28 years ago, during that time I've "endured" plenty that could be considered "racist" these days, my general intelligence tells me that 90% of that was done in jest and for fun and i took it as such, the other 10% while more overt and a bit hurty I shrugged off. The reason why I shrugged it off? Because it is massively outweighed by the times that people in the UK have helped me, shown me kindness, supported me. I spent 23 of the years here in the Navy serving the country, married a lovely girl and have 2 sons that I bring up to be proud of this country. There are hurty words said to people and sometimes actions, but they are largely done by people that weren't worth your time in the first place. Grow a skin and be grateful for the ones that are worth it, emulate them, look to improve yourself not looking for excuses.

  41. Our area has had the "pleasure" of hosting some surprise dinghy visitors in several of our fine 4 star hotels. I was speaking to some relatively new english neighbours that moved to the area for the primary school down the road for their 4 year old. They werent offered a place. However I have noticed our dinghy visitors managed to get several of their kids into the school! Dinghy diversity is someones strength we are told constantly... but it certainly isnt for those that have worked hard and invested in expensive housing over those that choose to make our peoples home their home.

  47. I see the same thing in the midlands NHS laboratory I work in. The hospital is a large one with a huge catchment area. I would conservatively say at least a third of all of testing I see come across my desk is south east asian, Caribbean, et al, even though they "apparently" are only 3% of the population.I see very very few chinese names. However there are some areas where the numbers are even higher, the assisted conception unit sends is samples for AFP testing, the list on there on any given day hovers around 75% in favour of muslim names..I wonder what could be going on there? Also considering assisted conception quite often produces multi births.

  50. Ireland is a very "naive" country, we tend to be trusting and friendly, along the same lines as the UK at least. However the UK isnt as naive to "the other" as Ireland is. Allowing in hundreds of thousands of migrants is a "relative" drop in the ocean in the UK. In ireland with a 20th of the population it's a cultural disaster within one generation.
