  3. Yes, I find it hilarious that the film trys so hard to put her into "Enigmatic Epic Leader" but its fighting hard against the plot and script. The whole thing puts me in mind of an18th century galleon caught in a hurricane. No matter how hard you try you are in for a bad time of it battling against it.

  4. Kylo Ren is a terrible awful character that has few qualities worth respecting from either a character or writing perspective. There was literally nothing worth liking about him in a room where he was supposed to the antagonist. Driver isnt an awful actor but this character was written to be stupid and weak and inferior yet is in charge of a galactic spanning force of supposed bad asses. But they arent they are all stupid weak men supposedly in this behemoth of evil doing evil for reasons for evil which arent ever really expanded on. Lucky we have strong wamens to defeat the stupid weak men. Fuck you film!

  6. I'm a 70s and 80s child and it breaks my heart too. They'll sell all of it to chinese mega consortium's to make money instead of going back to the drawing board and producing good stuff like they used to.

  7. Yes this was a great episode. Loved the series, would NEVER have watched it without the Drinkers recommend as "cartoon" stuff isn't really my preference.

  9. I'll watch any scene on TV but THAT scene I cannot watch, I first saw Jaws in the early 80s as an 8 year old. It properly shit me up and hasn't failed since. Movie is fantastic all round, there are very few that come close.

  12. I have the books and struggled a bit reading the first so never continued to the 2nd one. Just found the first difficult to follow as it rambled along. I could give it another go I suppose.

  16.  @MrMaboboz  the idea of having people in shows that "represent" everyone is a nice thing in context, what makes it Grotesque is that it is everywhere nowadays. I wouldnt question a lot of it if it's in context, but too often it isn't, and it goes out of it's way to even replace anything white male straight. Take some examples, The Expanse is a far future tv show with a lot of diversity. It made sense, it wasnt contrived or put one group over another in some batshit hierarchy. It was natural and felt in place. Another example, the Star Wars recent movies, same sort of premise, far future blah blah, but it did the diversity aspect very poorly indeed, destroyed the original characters and placed very poor examples of the diversity downplaying and denigrating anything white male normal. It's the latter that fans are seeing with this new adaptation in LotR

  17. The diversity is strong in this one. Luckily its a franchise of its own and not something else they've tried to destroy. I can avoid it with no loss.

  20. Sad part is that while I detest what Disney have done in the last 10 odd years, I have fond memories of when I was a child in the 80s watching their stuff. The thing is poison now, the money men will indeed want to make money and instead of turning the ship away from the iceberg of social fashion, they'll drive onto the beach in Mumbai to be asset stripped to its core. They'll sell it to huge Chinese consortium's, because we'll that's where money comes from for some reason.

  22. The Prequels had very weak silly moments but the underlying story arc was well done I think. There are plot holes and "why didnt..." moments which are hard to forget but overall they did a great job of showing how you could get Darth Vadar from that small boy in the first movie. The recent sequels dont accomplish anything like this, but it doesn't matter because the sequels never set out to want to do that. They wanted the strong female ideology and they wanted it without any effort at all in the writing dept. A ready baked ready to go ready female.

  28. This is BANG ON the right video for the times we live in. Corporates need to do their need thing, but we dont them to project their employees political and social hang ups to their customers. Just do you thing, do it well, stop the preach, stop the lecturing, spend your money on making good products that dont need to project "the messssage".

  30. I dont think the Mandalorian was brilliant it was a good step though in the right direction as was Rogue One. Disney will not let go of the box ticking, lecturing on CRT and diversity etc. They are far too infested with it all.

  40. I loved Wrath of Khan ever since a child. But that one scene where Scotty brings the dead crew mate to the bridge always confused me. Why are you bringing this unfortunate chap to the bridge? The bridge didnt need a dead man on it at that moment. The scene might have worked better happening in engineering. Anyway that is the level best I can criticise this movie for. Other than that the movie is square on one of the best adversary/hero movies ever made. It is the holy grail that writers of ST have been chasing ever since and failing miserably. The remake was a disgusting effort best left in the minds of the writers.

  41. I loved this very much, its adult and complex without being batshit. It did the usual homage to "diversity" but in a great way that didnt force any messages or place anyone higher than others in batshit hierarchies that mean nothing. It told a good story with good actors (in the main). I have to say the weakest character in this for me is Holden, he just never settled into the story for me much of the time. Aside from him I gelled with most of the others particularly the belter characters. Amos steals the show once they give him some real time onscreen. Overall this is well worth any Scifi fans time and effort.

  45. I think this movie did a far better job of telling its story than the awful Prometheus movie. I get a lot of your criticism of Covenant but many more can be justified in other ways that naturally are a matter of opinion. Overall I enjoyed this movie it took regular folk with many flaws and placed them against the nut job of David. Sure there are many weak moments but it still did much more to rescue the franchise after everything from alien 4 onwards.

  46. The fools took 2 of the best scenes from the original and tried to mix them together only without thinking how each scene worked and just did anyway. The "Khaannnnnnn" scene and spock dying. This crap mixes the two and swaps the characters for the gigglezz. You can imagine the writers thinking this was going to be some mindblowing out of the box scene by doing this but honestly I stopped watching long before anyway.
