  1. 21:30. I would agree with the German Official History that there were insufficient reserve divisions. The Axis forces are spread thin, and the units that were available for reinforcing 6th Army were understrength (I recall the 100th Jager Division being severely depleted from the fighting in the Don Bend). BUT, whose fault was that? Not Hitler's, but the German General Staff's fault for not sending enough units and men to Stalingrad in the first place. As usual, if something goes wrong, find a scapegoat.

  3. 4:40 I wonder if the Germans were using "Pervitin" (methamphetamine) at this time on Mamayev Kurgan, or if they were merely drunk. Given how constant and intense the action was, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the former.
