Bears in Colorado do this pretty commonly. They have no problem opening Subaru doors and every season it seems one bear will lock itself in a car. That never turns out good for the car.

You have some excellent carpentry to hold up to full sized bears. Respect to those craftspeople.

That's a cross between a bear and a Buick. 🐻🚗
92
That's totally normal black bear behavior for when they're pushed back. Nothing to be worried about, but Patrick sure kept his cool. 😂
90
That bear is almost a sphere.
52
She usually dines in but today she got take-away.
46
The majority of racoons are like she is, sweet and gentle. I'm glad she found Patrick.
26
Too hot for a fur coat!
23
The 750,000 black bears of North America kill less than one person per year on the average, while men ages 18-24 are 167 times more likely to kill someone than a black bear. Milo is behaving similarly to the way he would behave with another male bear but you can see Patrick is clearly recognized as dominate. My only concern is Simone's reaction to all of it, but she's not too worried it seems.

It's a little concerning seeing her out in that much light. I hope she's feeling OK. Racoons are so sweet. 🦝

@jeerawatgertlam9131 😂😂😂
16
That was so sweet! ❤🦝❤
16
Cutest lawnmower I've seen in quite a while.
14
Thank you, Bella, for not warning us the deer were visiting.
11
@jeffk1482 I don't have any special insurance rider, but I do have a bear-proof trash container which is required by law where I am.
10
Time to put the bear feeder back up!
9
My my, you have some large blackbirds there.
9
Poppy looks like she may be part Buick.
9
I wish I could donate to a cat food support fund for her and her kits.
9
It's boiling out and I just got home from walking to the store to get a pint of ice cream. Perfect timing. 🥰🦌🐻

People calling racoons 'trash pandas' make me sick.
7
Those "birds" are really hard on the feeder.

@alandyson3925 Cheers from Boulder, Colorado. Here black bears are so common that half the city has bear-proof trash bins mandated by civic code and a local primary school goes into lockdown a few times a year when bears are about. Luckily we have no grizzly bears which are truly terrifying creatures to me. Ask any Boulder resident about it and they'll probably respond with, "we love our bears!" and indeed we have a decent sized bear sanctuary on the western border of the city which is open space set aside for them. A friend had a mother and two cubs hang out in a tree of his for a day as he and his wife enjoyed coffee below. Here it's the mountain lions that spark great concern. I've been stalked by one of them. It's a bit disconcerting. A channel I would recommend for bear lovers is 'Orphaned Wildlife Center' which shows that even the enormous brown bears can be full of love.

That's a cross between a bear and a Buick.
7
That's normal black bear behavior. They do it when they feel threatened or pushed and it's often called a "false charge". It's just a show of dominance.
6
Bear are smart.
6
You can tell right from that she's a sweet bear.
6
Teddy Bear sized cubs 🐻❤
5
They do indeed. They drain my bird feeders any time they get the chance.

It's good you don't have a Subaru. As many Coloradans can attest to, bears seem to intuitively understand how to open Subaru doors. Once inside, they find they can't work the inside door catches so they usually eat the interior and empty their intestines. It's a problem when you're late for work and there's a mad bear stuck in your car.
5
I saw one that size here a week ago. They're ready to hibernate.
4
They absolutely love birdseed too! If she was visiting me, I would have to set out a plate of peanut butter and birdseed sandwiches.
4
That was so nice for Bella to give Lola and the kids some peace and quiet.
3
It's so nice to see the garden in Spring and Ruby looking good. 🐻❤ I'm glad things are cool between Maddie and Ruby. Cats and foxes do well together but I don't about about cats and bears.
3
What a sweetie. They really love grapes. 🦝
3
She's probably been scratching on a tree. Everyone likes a massage.
3
@fledge1234 Take a look at the videos from about one week ago. He gave her a few of what looked like crackers or cat treats. 🦝
3
@alandyson3925 LOL, indeed! I don't camp any more and do all my camping vicariously by watching Patrick Dickinson from Sheffield's videos of wild camping in the Peak District. It's a small world these days.
3
Watch this new bear family's first appearance five days ago. Two cubs for this mom. Possibly her first litter. Her cubs are smaller than Ruby's too.
3
Another winner for feeding hungry racoons is the good old peanut butter sandwich. They're easy to make up to have a couple waiting for Bandita.🦝❤

@joanwechsler2408 North-central Colorado. I've seen two in the past week but one was a yearling.
2
@deebee7746 I had exactly the same concern. After some checking my fears were set at ease and seeing her now multiple times in the late afternoon with the same disposition leaves no doubt for me that she's just a sweet little hungry racoon.
2
🤞
2
She's definitely nursing. She's small and thin, but she has a healthy looking coat. I couldn't resist trying to fatten her up a bit.
2
@dhwoods196 Try a search for 'bear stuck in car colorado' 😉. Bears regularly break into cars in Colorado, 484 times between 2019 and 2020 for instance according to Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
2
@GETSOMEICo.35MARINES Grab a mirror because you are so filled with hate that you need to rename things in a derogatory way to make you feel better. It's a cute racoon and you can type cute racoon in lower case too. Animals only eat trash when they don't have better options and I probably wouldn't watch you eat trash and think, oh, how cute, and change your name to trash goatee.... however after your response....

Black bears rarely attack people. There's no need for guns. They bluff charge as standard behavior. You're in FAR more statistical danger from a middle-aged male than a bear.
1
@nancy-katharynmcgraw2669 We know that, but you go ahead and tell Simone she can't snack from the bird's food.
1
True, with the exception that nursing mothers don't get as much of a break so you may see them in the day and it's OK.
1
That's a good normal concern. This one looks to be a young nursing mother so the daytime appearance is far, far less concerning.
