I think he always intended to tank Twitter. I can't say anything for the search engine manipulation or anything like that, but let's face it, Twitter is damaged beyond repair, and that's a positive as far as I'm concerned. They can't undo how thoroughly they've outted themselves in all this drama.

You know it was fckt when DeviantArt has to immediately launch an algorithm to notify artists when their work is being used as an NFT, almost without any warning because the people pushing NFTs refuse to stop, despite all the easily predicted issues with it. It's really fascinating to see how hard this is getting pushed because of the investments in it and how no-one is willing to let it die because of that investment. None of this is beneficial to the common person or the artists for that matter, it's doomed to fail because of scammers and it will do nothing to improve any industry, only hobble it until people drop their egos, admit the loss and let this "trend" die off.

As I've said before, these gaming journalists didn't WANT to be in gaming, they wanted to be in the big media league, but couldn't cut it. Now they want to try and live out those aspirations in an inappropriate space.

Conspiracy theories always get a bit more interesting and a lot less "theory" when you start following the money. It's a key motivator in most instances and makes a lot more sense than anything else. If you told me the lizard people were doing it for money, I'd be more inclined to believe it.

The second someone makes pirating even more safe and convenient (it is largely with the majority of previous gen games/consoles) then we'll witness a MAJOR shift in the market and finally get some of these bad elements weeded out of the industry when they can't make money off of us all as easily.

The reason Jodorowsky's Dune got so popular with people is because of the sheer amount of influence its had on sci-fi movies with all the ideas and concept work that was in those pitch books. From Alien, to Flash Gordon, to STAR WARS you can see the ideas from Jodorowsky's Dune that made it into these movies (in particular, a lot of the visuals) and how much of the talent he'd gathered for the project got work at various other studios as a result of the work they submitted for the (almost) Dune movie. You mentioned that it's known as the most ambitious movie never made, but in reality, it has been made... just over the course of several other movies that drew from Jodorowsky. If you ever get a chance, try to find the documentary about Jodorowsky's Dune, it's not only a fascinating story, but it's interesting to see what kind of impact it had on cinema without ever being made.

Yeah, a lot of DEI positions have already had title changes because it's not going away, it's just trying to be more subtle now the it realized it jumped the gun.

If this does go to court, I hope all of these guys get nailed to a stake. We need to not just win, we need to make an example of them and make it clear that these schemes, this behavior, and blatant abuse of the system will no longer protect them and won't be tolerated.
120
As terrible as this is, it kinda needed to happen. There needed to be a solid, go-to example for how people could play at the current social-political climate for self-gain and how people need to remember to think critically, allow investigations and not just blindly believe what people tell them because they're either jumping on the band wagon or worried they'll become targets for disagreeing. And don't forget the names of anyone that jumped on this and used it to propel their own goals. Everything they gained from this was from a lie and they should be remembered for that.
118
And consider just how much more interesting this is compared to anything a "mainstream" gaming journalist might put out in years. Clearly there are stories out there, they're just not willing to report on any of them.
79
It's a shame we're still having constantly find the silver lining in all of these releases.
72
@fluidwolf It's taking out a very limited piece of Dune's history, all to try and scam some profit off of it. It's really scummy.
71
If they followed the money they would have gotten rid of all this crap years ago, it doesn't take more than a decade and billions of dollars in lost revenue to make it clear that something isn't profitable. At that point, you're pushing this for more than money.
59
I've seen elementary school playgrounds with less juvenile behavior.
58
I haven't even seen it on Netflix.
51
@madensmith7014 Twitter is already unprofitable. It's already a cesspool of drama. If it disappeared tomorrow completely, that would be a win regardless.
50
Instead of paying to get their accounts back, they should invest that money in the lawsuit for this extortion.
47
@Flugs0 All of their BS has been made public and they've been caught lying to everyone, even when questioned by other institutions. Their legal team will likely land in some legal hot water and their advertising partners are gonna want some explanations. Not to mention, their investors are going to lose big on this deal collapsing like this. Yeah, they could well be damaged beyond repair.
46
Yeah, it feels like this would have been the plan all along.
32
They love the Snyder cut now because it's making them the money to stay in business and keep churning out the stuff they've been for decades now. Lesson learned? No... no, I don't think so.
31
And to think, people were more worried about this thing getting so smart on its own that it would break beyond the boundaries of its creators, when in reality it's just being programmed as a propaganda machine like nearly everything else being introduced into the tech industry.
29
@GodwynDi Yeah, that lawsuit needs to get some momentum. They should use any gains they've gotten from this to help fund it.
27
@masterofnegotiation2815 Well, both of those are going down the toilet in record time, but the game industry still has a lot of its own problems too. The key issue here is that the gaming journalists are also part of those problems right now. They're using gaming coverage as a platform to soapbox and do anything but report on games. They had a chance to truly pick this all up during the gaming boom and really make this into a respectable media industry, but weren't actually interested in doing any of that, so now it's been ruined for anyone that would have that kind of passion for games and gaming journalism.
27
The major finance companies that want to influence behaviors, even "force" them.
26
@notfallingforthat13 Yeah, it's just too obvious and ongoing to assume this is just a bunch of investors too stupid to see the money burning. Hell, there was one smart investor trying to right the ship at Disney, but he keeps getting thwarted because to the rest this isn't about profitability.
25
We'll know where this game stands when we check the steam charges a month from now. Unlike single-player games these MMOs have to have a sort of steady, on-going player-base and if it drops by large percentages, it'll just fade away like many others.
25
Glad to see it's not ALL hype and praise. I was wondering why I was constantly getting bombarded with this game all of the sudden.
25
Instead of pitchforks and torches, we have Twitter and YouTube...god, don't you just love progress?
24
So you should be sending some of this to their legal defense since this can all help out Magnates. I mean, unless his legal counsel is completely unfamiliar with these sorts of tactics and topics or sleep at the wheel, it should strengthen the case against Edson. This should not only stop Alex's BS, YouTube should also be forced to acknowledge how easily their system is abused like this. It's pathetic and laughable.
23
And then during the holiday vacation, they had to fix a save corrupting bug that was due to the memory cap on save files, that was being breached by a memory bug, because to this day they don't know how to parse out/unload unnecessary data properly... that's not quite fair, they probably know how, but the crunch just prevented them from implementing and optimizing it properly.
22
@Mr D J What the actual hell are you talking about? Who said anything about "neutrality"? Who said anything about "conspiracy theory". Are you sure you're responding to the right post? Are you even sure you're on the right video, because I'm totally lost what you're trying to say here.
22
Selective coverage is no different from a cover-up as far as I'm concerned. These outlets need to get this shit together, they're here to tell us what's going on, not use their platforms as a means of attacking people they just don't like. What the hell happened to journalism?
21
@jiripazour9551 Equity in "practice" is bad.
21
Oh right, I didn't even think about that. That an AI that helps people write code could assist in writing malicious code.
20
Same content? That's the same GUY! You can tell just by listening to him he's the same person over and over again.
20
Start showing these thumbnails and videos to concerned mothers XD I'm sure they'll love knowing their children can be exposed to people actively exposing themselves.
18
And then he can make a community post about it.
18
@Acguarnica And move on to the next front, because if there's one thing they can't help, it's creating loopholes to exploit. We'll get those too!
17
WB is following the money. They had to make a move like this to keep themselves in business. They're not learning anything, they're not changing their ways. If anything this might kick off a trend of movie "redemptions" instead of remakes and remasters, and they'll be just as cheap and cash grabby as what we had before until they stop making money, and these studios have to pivot again. WB is still getting paid for people supporting this new cut of the movie. That's all the matters to them.
17
And we rightfully called him out on it, which is good. It isn't like this guy is anywhere near squeaky clean, even if he's bothering some seemingly worse people right now.
16
I work for a company that relies on automation to gather data. But what sets us apart is that we ensure that REGULARLY the data is reviewed and updated by human hands. For this reason, it makes us better than a lot of our competitors. It's the same thing here, you can't just rely on automation to do the job, it's not enough. Even if it seems insurmountable you need a regular batch of human people handling things as they come in to be sure that no major mistakes have been made.
15
@Mr D J I need clips the show UE saying that before I believe a word of whatever the hell you're trying to say here. Also, YouTube tends to automatically delete comments and content the contain certain words they have a ban list. So likely if you any of your comments disappeared, it's because of what the algorithm read in them. I DO NOT recall UE ever saying anything about the virus being a conspiracy from China, nor does he say anything like that in this video. This video is about the conflict in the middle east, and someone commenting on it in a game publication making it very clear which side they were on. And he shows the evidence in the video and links to the articles he's referenced in the description.
15
@Clint52279 That does seem to be the goal and why these wounds aren't ever healing. Outrage and "suffering" is far more profitable for most of these people.
15
The information super highway is now an engine for moderated messaging and aggressive advertising. It's become a money generator more than a communication tool.
14
I feel like my "what all can you do before the first boss" sort of play will be... immense in this game compared to other Souls games XD
14
@papapawpaw8877 Yeah, and let's make sure to do our part to never let anyone forget. Complacency and accepting perceived "inevitability" is one of the biggest reasons anyone gets away with crap like this. "I'm so insignificant, I may as well do nothing since it'll be meaningless" is precisely why they're allowed to keep doing this. Stop being useless, start making some effort to actually change stuff and keep being outraged when you damn well should be. Apathy ain't a virtue.
13
There are no easy solutions, guys. Anything you have can impact any of a hundred different things negatively, and sometimes marketing is just meant to get you to buy something regardless of what it actually means to have it.
12
Make sure to know what companies you support guys, and what they support for the sake of "good business".
11
NTFs are like a witnessing the sunk cost fallacy at work for rich people. Something that's doomed to fail, will never be what they want it to be, yet forcefully pushed because of the investment in them before anyone really thought about how it all works and the potential for it to be abused.
11
Only issues I have with Grim Dawn, how bosses can just be immune to things you build towards sometimes and rely on for keeping your whole setup functional (like freezing enemies to nuke them down) on Normal difficulty things like Blackwater Molotov and Blood Pox can essentially just win the game without investments anywhere else and I hate the abundance of enemies that explode and hurt you after you kill them. Besides those things, I'd say it's a very solid alternative, even over Torchlight.
