Lack of a surveillance state.

At least as a proactive policy up until the rebel group is removed from the face of the earth, yes. We can't expect much from countries like Nigeria though. Just gotta make sure that the problems there don't spread abroad.

Giving concessions to animalistic extremists wasn't good. But the 20 year campaigns in the middle east hasn't worked when it comes to minimizing influence of the Taliban. New generations joins the extremist group due to their delusions, lack of education and Taliban's recruitment processes. Something had to be done, and in this case it entailed putting America and american troops first. I'm sure future intervention against the Taliban may be needed though. Trump brokered several peace deals and didn't declare any wars. He didn't abide by Putin's demands. So such insinuations should be left out of the debate.

Lol. You can't use the word "freedom" or "freedom of speech" to defend or rationalize illegal actions, you know, actions that people normally are prosecuted for since they breach federal laws. I'm torn on Assange, personally, but these reactions are so one-sided and misleading. These reactions also justifies a bunch of dishonest media tactics that many have complained about for years, including Trump and those who've been censored/ostracized for their political beliefs.

@Chris47368 That's a lie. Historically, everyone has been involved in conflict, war and imperialism. Those who weren't, probably lived secluded in a hut without making any contributions to humanity. The past decades, the affluent world has contributed with many billions to assist and build up the "less fortunate" countries and populations. We rule, dictate and carry this world and its problems on our shoulders. So show some respect and gratitude, frankly. It's obvious that the important players should be vaccinated first. Communists claiming that we should socialize this field too are so naive.

This incoming 4 year long storm will not be pleasant. Let's hope that Biden's administration doesn't do too much damage. Rest assured, the police will at least not be defunded or abolished anymore after the public's perception all of a sudden shifted after Jan. 6 incident.
3
@robertsteele2374 Trusting government authorities to protect the public > Trusting random citizens to protect the public. Easy choice.
3
Even companies labelling themselves as philanthropic and "for the people" have to play somewhat by the rules and make a profit. That anyone is surprised by that is surprising.
3
Spiteful people are the worst.
3
"...But Africa!!"

Why not let english speaking journalists translate and talk over the small documentary? Difficult to follow when the reporter has a heavy accent and when most people are speaking arabic..
3
Celebrating a biased news report because it agrees with your views isn't a good thing, considering that it ignores the risk of gaming addiction and mental health complications that many experience related to gaming, may be seen as an idealization of gaming, and isn't representative. Strive for neutral and informative reporting, not biased reporting.
3
Some, yes. While others are too coldhearted to feel any remorse.
3
Getting these predictions correctly and journalists providing the information and predictions that reflect reality is incredibly important unless you're looking for further distrust and condemnation of the media by all sides, especially the right-wing, because the media is controlled by center/leftists in most Western countries.
3
UK is one of the least countries on earth. Humorous parallells and scrutinizing powerful figures no matter their background, isn't rayczism.
3
An overdose and unstable personality clearly led to the fatal outcome. That people are blaming scapegoats such as the police or made-up "racism" is just ridiculous. Unbelievable how anyone takes that seriously.
3
Leftists lawyers, judges and politicians are working over time to undermine election security, throw out all lawsuits alleging irregularities, and let criminals vote for the Dems. That should say it all, really. The Dems do not deserve this "win", they live by using dishonorable tactics of cheating. I hope the election results are overturned so Trump can continue. Anything else would be objectively unfair.
3
While I don't like the occasional bias and misleading news characterizations published by BBC, most of their articles are correct and worth reading. I appreciate that there's news organizations who covers what is happening in this world. Happy 30 years
3
@danielwhyatt3278 Separatists aren't part of the "people" in its broad sense. They're fringe terrorists. Every state and its people tend to be in favor of a "war" against such destabilizing groups.
3
@cedcol356 Crushing criminals is a sign of beauty and a humane action. Arresting and detaining criminals isn't racist just because one race commits most of the crime. Come on now, describe countries fairly.
3
Solitary confinement is used to prevent the spread of viruses, to prevent violence, and ensure that dangerous culprits, serial killers and pedophiles can't infringe upon other people. They deserve it. Having sympathy for these people is what's the problem, not the penalties itself. Humanizing these threats is a huge threat to society itself, which many naive and short-sighted people can't see.
3
Because he's an anti-communist, capitalist and a socialconservative. Sadly, he doesn't mind pollution, unsustainable climate policies, amazon wildfires and a deadly virus crushing his own people. All of these latter blunders from the libertarian in chief has been disappointing, least said.
3
And now he's suspended from Twitter for laughably stupid reasons and biased interpretations. This world is in a mess.

Not another disease... Why haven't WION, the Indian-centered channel, reported on this yet?
2
Unless body alteration involves getting in shape and losing weight, of course. Or throwing away unhealthy habits. That should all be encouraged. But artificial intervention and cosmetic surgery should be forbidden.
2
That is obviously not the goal, but if it is, GOOD. We need people to show more concern and empathetic notions when handling other innocent people. When responding to threats, pandemics and risks to our country. A passive and indifference populace is a significant danger.
2
It's hard to take responsibility unless you're willing to bar you children from vising social medias or using the internet altogether. That might be good for them though, something that many more parents should do.
2
We need more of that across the world. Letting humanity ascend to a next level and transcend into the most prosperous life imaginable, by prohibiting activities and substances that infringes upon public health. By making sure that society is enriched, not polluted or letting it decay. By ensuring that everyone abides by recommendations that benefits oneself and others. Everybody would be so much better off if this scientific, secular and rational policy prevailed.
2
America's "democracy" were crippled when every "democrat" decided to staunchly oppose every attempt of investigating the cases of fraud, irregularities, mail-carriers throwing away ballots, election workers not acting transparent, felons voting, and so on. Just because your center-left candidate got into power, doesn't improve that he saved democracy. His attempts of steamrolling the opposition by implementing dozens of executive orders signals the opposite.
2
So annoying how these characters keep making everything about their unconventional and high-risk interests in the bedroom. Why not focus on policy? On what actually matters? On decency?
2
Why shouldn't the case go forward just because the person may have mental complications? Why should journalistic integrity continuously be downsized and set the precedent that illegal tactics to retrieve/publish information won't be prevented, especially if you "suffer from mental complications"?
2
Biden won't push against the trouble, he'll be the source and enabler of it. Let's look back in a few years and we'll see reality. Reversing track may be too late at that point though, with the cultural/demographic changes, criminals on the streets, weakened electoral laws, establishment of an immoral society and the takeover by those with bad intentions.
2
Racists and discriminatory individuals focusing on race and people's genders to determine whether or not they will look up to someone. Disgraceful. Of course BBC is publishing something like this. Pure propaganda and just divisive content.
2
Apart from his climate policy and indifference towards corona, his general politics are great. And so his he. Gonna miss this man greatly.
2
No, it's your that are spreading conspiracies by minimizing the pandemic, opposing vaccination/restrictions and not caring about the effects that this pandemic has had. Had it been a normal wedding without safety measures being adhered to, criticism would be directed at the couple, for valid resons. What does that have to do with a "conspiracy"?
2
Oh god..who CARES!!
2
Accusations of bullying has been frequent in the UK parliament, governmental cabinet and by these prominent officials. What is it with the presumptuous civilized culture in UK and its interconnection with bullying? I don't get it.
2
They didn't have any these prolonged governmental crises during the 30s 😂
2
They're improving in a whole lot of ways lately. Proud of France and Macron. Wouldn't have thought that they would strengthen the police and crush terrorism so rapidly and fiercely. Especially in such a short period of time.
2
If you know anything about Iran and how it leadership operates, you'll be fully aware of why it isn't appropriate for such an unstable and predatory country to develop and build up a nuclear arsenal. But ok, let's blame Western propaganda and downplay the real threats.
2
If freedom involves anti-vaccination, anti-masks, and anti-restriction notions during a destructive pandemic, freedom would be a useless and cold concept.
2
I hoped and thought that Johnson's administration would manage to get some things right and favor a right-wing agenda. How wrong I were.
2
There's way too much baseless skepticism and defiant attitudes against a vaccine. Wonder why. I can see that people are skeptical towards a vaccine that still hasn't been tested enough or officially approved, but that'll be done prior to releasing it on the market. Rare side-effects can of course always arise in a small number of subjects, but surely the benefits outweighs the risks.
2
She's pushing back against the left-leaning turn that the democrats has taken. Against the bias and violence glorification that dems and leftists has expressed the past years, while pretending to be on the side of reason, civility and peace. Just look at the love for BLM. Antifa. And the war tensions encouraged by dems, journalists and corporations on Jan. 6, after the same type of entities were quiet throughout the entirety of 2020 when riots swept the country.
2
Lol, in what way?
2
Libya was basically a little more unstable than Iran is today when looking at leadership. Intervention was probably inevitable in that regard, for global peace and to prevent a corrupt, destabilizing leader from polluting the world too much. The current civil war in crisis in the country isn't a great look or outcome, though.
2
Feel free to consume the food that don't meet supermarket standards then, such as soft and decayed apples, mangos, oranges, bananas and pepper ;) Jokes aside, bringing attention to the immense food waste globally is a worthy cause. All forms of waste and pointless production/consumption should be mitigated.
2
Follow the howl Nice cop-out, or conspiracy, considering that there's no provable or persuasive data to back up your guess. Why is the African continent in a cemented mess? Because of the racism instigated by the African populace? Or because of the "evil Western" scapegoat? It has to do with a flawed culture, different intellectual levels due to various factors (the point of past oppression/poverty may play a part here), single parent households created by an irresponsible culture and external enabling factors, and because the state in many of these countries hasn't ensured that the population strives for greatness. A lack of a zero tolerance policy is also an issue.
2
So Daniel, how do you suggest that crime is solved. How is it ensured that people don't end up on the wrong path? How is the overrepresentation in crime by certain demographics handled?
2
~100+ active volcanoes in Indonesia. Might be time to move away one's residents from these areas, and abandon them to let nature take its course?
