  24. I agree it was incredible but the route to India around Africa was not as scary since they could follow the coast line at least. Sailing west, into the unknown must have been truly scary especially if the Atlantic ocean had turned out to have been much bigger! By the way, the greatest adventure in history was definitely Magellan's circumnavigation of the globe! The most fantastic story ever. Read the book on that voyage or watch the lecture by the author on youtube...very fascinating!

  28. The reality is that physicists don't claim they know what happened at the big bang. The equations break down at the exact moment of the big bang. We can only describe what happened fractions of a second afterwards and how the universe most likely evolved into its present shape and form. Anyone who claims they know what happened at or before is just speculating or BS'ing!

Just imagine all the great empires and civilizations that came before The Egyptians, the Romans, the Greeks, the Chinese, etc. Millenia went by and none of them made the discovery until 1492.
