@JSM-bb80u I depends on the case. I think some countries can't adequately defend themselves without conscription so in those cases I (unhappily) support it for the time being. However, I wouldn't take anyone's vote away e.g. for dodging service.

"One thing that's overlooked is the insane schooling culture." It wasn't overlooked in this video.

Such blockades will not happen, at least not for merely not accepting deported people.

@TheArctofireHD "That law, banning federal recognition of gay marriage, passed with an overwhelming majority, more than enough for a constitutional amendment" I'm still skeptical of that kind amendment could have passed. A constitutional amendment would also require 3/4 of the states to accept it which is a tough bar to pass. Also, Bush tried such an amendment a few years later and it couldn't even pass the Congress. (Just for clarity, I'm myself in favor of allowing same-sex marriage but my comment isn't about that but only about the chances of this kind of amendment passing.)

@TheArctofireHD "it was so overwhelmingly supported, 342-67 in the House and 85-14 in the Senate" That is a big percentage but remember that it pools the whole country together. Some states are much more progressive/liberal than others. I think it's still quite likely that in 13 or more states a majority of the legislature would vote against. Btw, as a clarification, would the hypothetical amendment you'd have wanted banned states from recognizing same sex marriage or only secured them the right to not recognize it? Obviously, the former would be harder to pass.

That event didn't end up that well for the perpetrators.

Have the rich Arab petro-states become less dynamic, potent, or cohesive after becoming rich?

@madguitarist8014 Though I've heard the languages are to some degree mutually intelligible.

@chico9805 I'm not sure what you're referring to with indignation, but my point was that the EU is likely a net economic benefit to it's members. A large internal market is very useful.

@minestar2247 I just wanted to point out that this common refrain isn't really quite true.
