  2. Just like to add, China does not allow non state-run media to do street interviews. Yet, Asian Boss somehow is allowed. So, take their videos with a grain of salt.

  3. Not really. - It's our duty to protect and preserve our civil liberty and Taiwan's sovereignty, it's not U.S.'s responsibility. - Taiwan is not Afghan. We don't have factions of armed militia trying to overthrow Taiwan's government for decades. - Taiwan's current stability is not due to U.S. troops suppressing PLA army within Taiwan into hiding caves, while our government extorts for free money from U.S. Taiwan is not Afghan. - U.S. already abandoned Taiwan TWICE. When U.S. ditched Taiwan to establish tie with China and then when U.S.'s removed its military presence in Taiwan upon China's requests. But we are doing just fine.

  4. I'd like to add. Did anyone saw any Afghan soldier fought any Taliban when Taliban moved into the cities? Any video of *A* fight? Any photos? No fight broke out. They let Taliban walk right in. PLA has to cross Taiwan Straits in a fleet of some 320+ ships with 6,000+ missiles raining on them for 5 hours just to finally have a shot at making an amphibious landing to even be in Taiwan. Has anyone being paying attention to China's flooding problem? Imagine PLA troops that somehow miraculously managed set base camp at coast had their food, medical, ammo supply stalled by flood complications, in China. The only reason China hasn't invaded is China does not have the ability. And we are going to keep it that way, that's the only way "peace" can be achieved with Chinese Communists.

  5.  @cobaltblue2756  Go to China, take out your mic and video camera, and start questioning people, see what happens. I won't say Asian Boss is fake, but most of what you are saying, are fake as hell. Many of those "YouTubers" are former state-media news casters, some are even current news casters. China knows people don't trust China's state-media so they are selling their narratives in forms that look like "independent" media.

  7.  @taoliu3949  We just had a public vote on four issues. Which city's votes matched the outcome? Kahsiung's or Taipei's? Taiwan's civil rights movements were fought in Kaohsiung. People here in Kaohsiung don't take civil liberty for granted. They are aware of sacrifices made. They are aware those civil liberties can be taken away again by an authoritarian power. That's the main difference.

  9. You think you know but you don't. Yeah, RoC constitution. Was Taiwan part of RoC when RoC was founded? RoC founded 1911. 1945 Japan begun retreating from Taiwan, and KMT was seeking refuge in Taiwan at the same time. Japan officially surrendered Taiwan in 1951's S.F. Treaty ( signed with U.S., not RoC or PRC ), effective 1952. So, Chiang Kai Shek refusing to acknowledge Mao's PRC as legitimate, has jack to do with Taiwanese.

They were the same top two candidates from pro-China-taking-over-Taiwan New Party which had zero support in 2016's election. KMT should have gotten zero seats. Zero.

  19.  @taoliu3949  Again, in regards to 2020 party votes, it was not a case where people were equally aware of KMT exploiting the system but had different opinions about it. Any city which had people actively bringing up that issue will obviously have people who otherwise won't care to vote, went out and vote against KMT. It was a difference of how widespread was that issue brought to awareness. Not a good reference point of which cities' population is a better representation of how Taiwanese feel about China.

So let's just say they picked some 20+ people to interview. And decided 6 of them somewhat tell the story. Well, were those 20+ in equal distribution as the entire population of Taipei? And are those 6 an equal distribution of the 20+ they interviewed? Important thing is what they expresss. One dude here says, "Strictly speaking, mainland and Taiwan are part of Republic of China." By your mathematical distribution analysis, this video's close to 20% of Taiwanese think mainland China's president is Tsai Ing Wen ( she is president of RoC ) should sound about right because it is done in Taipei. But does that sound right?

Who in Taiwan thinks China is part of Taiwan/RoC and PRC is illegitimate? There was only one dude who thought so and he was dead long ago. OP made it sound as if Taiwanese founded RoC and approved RoC's constitution because we want mainland to be part of RoC.

  23.  @SiRasputin  Show me where in S.F. Treaty that states Taiwan was to be given to PRC, or even RoC. Heck, Chiang Kai Shek originally wanted to rebuild his RoC in exile in Philippines. Taiwan was only his temporary refuge. But that talk didn't have an outcome so he never left. Technically, Japan surrendered Taiwan to U.S. and U.S. just went, "We think people on that island and KMT can work things out themselves". If KMT never came, Taiwan would have established itself as an island nation post WWII, because Japan can't have it and it's unlikely U.S. would want to claim it. Yes, we wouldn't have been as strong militarily and might be invaded by PRC, but point being, don't make it sound as if Japan signed an agreement with CCP to hand it over to PRC. That never hapoened. On the other hand, it is stated in Nanking Treaty that HK was to be returned to *RoC* at end of lease. China just claim stuff that doesn't exist and ignore ones that do.

Just because Taiwan permitted Italian cars to compete in Taiwan's free open market, does not mean our government forced us to drive Ferraris. Up til now, imported porks from all countries, managed to grab only 1.2% of our market because our home grown pork is just much tastier. It's a non issue. Sugar does far more harm to our body than American pork.

When OP or people like me who says a better representation would be this or that, we are talking about what they express. Not how many of them leaned which side. People aren't either this or opposite of this. So, a better representation is not a more accurate ratio of black vs white. It's expressed sentiments that reflects general concerns better.

Heck, I have relatives in Taipei whose father ( a doctor ) was abducted by KMT for no reason when KMT came and she never saw her dad again. I said, the interviewer won't find someone still clinging on to Chiang Kai Shek's RoC outside of Taipei. I already pointed out, if we had just let Kaohsiung's votes decide for Taiwan, the OUTCOME would be the same. But if we had just let Taipei's votes decide for Taiwan, the OUTCOME would have been different than the one we had. So, how is Kaohsiung more skewed?

But I'm so proud of young Taiwanese kids with zero funding putting up a good fight against China's billion-dollar-a-year funded subversion and infiltration. And those kids are actually winning.   35.  @SiRasputin  Not really. Treaty stated RoC, not "China". Which year did PRC became RoC? RoC had claim over HK, but Jiang Jr. ( then president of RoC ) decided not to challenge PRC. He would have leased it for another 50 years due to difficulty in protecting HK militarily if PRC wanted to take it by force. And he felt CCP would have easily painted him as a traitor to Chinese people for extending HK's lease considering the historical context of how HK was taken by Brits. So he let it slide.

They are elected by Taiwanese and will be expected by Taiwanese to deliver what Taiwanese elected them to do. What's U.S. going to do if Taiwanese want to give up civil liberty to live under authoritarian state with no rights? Invade Taiwan? What's CCP going to do if Taiwan refuse to cave in to what China wants? Invade Taiwan? Okay, that one might happen. But, we will make sure it won't by making it a risk so high that it could collapse CCP. We aren't pawns. Others have power over you only if you let them.

  44.  @taoliu3949  In recent referendum, Kaohsiung's outcome was against all 4, Taipei's outcome supported all 4. National participation was 41.9%, Kaohsiung 42%, Taipei 47.1%, the highest in Taiwan. Yet, National outcome was against all 4. And Kaohsiung is more skewed of a representation?

  46. The thing with ALL street interview is, these videos show only five or six of some 20+ people being interviewed. Is "who gets edited out" transparent? And there is nothing wrong with journalism with a stance. It's a problem only when certain voice are denied of the same legal right as other voices. For example, 'Asian Boss' could be more inclined towards some political stance, not a problem. But it's a problem when some other channel which also has its own stance does not get to share the same legal right to publish as 'Asian Boss'. Taiwan's media environment is fine. It's actually too lenient, because foreign-state funded media operating in the interests foreign state against Taiwan aren't protected under Taiwan freedom of press, and should be shut down. But they aren't.

  50.  @tristalacour2492  Most Taiwanese don't have family in mainland. Most are descendants of immigrants from Qing era, not families of Nationalist soldiers who fled Taiwan. Taiwan is an independent state. There was never a day when Taiwan was part of PRC in the history of planet Earth. If there is, give us those dates.
