@krislarsen6546 supermarkets especially in large cities have bakeries
1
@DeltaFlare987 I think he’s mostly talking about loaf bread
1
@vodkaboy there are aldis all over the US a and I saw Lidi in NYC area. Not sure how different they are to European versions
1
@aeolia80 most urban areas have plenty of bakeries — they just aren’t around the corner at all places like much of Europe. It’s basically suburbia and rural areas that have less access to fresh bread
1
@juancarlosnegron2358 fake bread is what Johnny called the typical sandwich bread full of preservatives. The point of the video is too illustrate what the common bread in US vs France (or Europe). The fake bread is more common in the US. However, he greatly underestimated the access Americans have to good true bread. Most supermarkets have bakeries and Whole Foods bakery is popular. US just lacks the many small bakeries that make it convenient to buy fresh bread consistently. Also, in rural areas and suburbia there are even fewer bakery options and often have to drive there.

Snowden released secret data in a more calculated way to make sure only relevant information was released. Assange just released all data regardless of it could kill people and because of that, I hate Assange. That said, using the espionage act against him is indeed troubling
1
@luknickel Assange literally just released the date with little censorship which caused the US to have to pull a lot of agents from the field. The reason no one possibly died is because the US acted swiftly.
1
@luknickel plus releasing Russian intelligence propaganda just shows he doesn’t care about doing the right thing, he just wants to be the one to release any secrets
1
@luknickel the internet which u clearly have no intention of using
1
I’m glad you kept Chile mostly out of it but why even bring it up as suggesting it likely was still a U.S. coup? All the major evidence suggests Nixon wasn’t aware of it until it happened and there are White House tapes / notes that prove that? To me the banana republic coups are the worst because it often involved a coup or oppression of democratic voices and was simply for US interest. Many of Cold War era coups where in situations where they opposing side was communist or aligned with the USSR which IMO would have made the world worst if it was dominated by the Soviets.
1
@marzupalami Can you expand on what was biased? I'm sure he was overly critical of the US as he always is but this video I don't know enough about the topic to say where it was very bias.
1
@t00bgazer Beijing or Moscow. Time to guess where t00bgazer works.
1
@far6077 educate urself on this. Jewish is both a race and religious group.

1:30 “subway is not cool. It’s not good.” This Johnny Harris video is NOT brought to you by Subway.
1
@kenjisasuke7705 yo, it’s been 72 years since 🇨🇳 civil war. Only evil would want to continue the war. Not even South Korea is looking to reclaim North Korea by force
1
@kenjisasuke7705 🇨🇳 should really do something about the industrial military complex because their leader is saying they would use force to take Taiwan back and has ordered military Jets to fly daily near Taiwan to show them what 🇨🇳 would do.
1
@RG-rb6om Utah doesn’t exist. It’s a fake state
1
I would believe most Chinse here if they weren’t at the same time denying what’s going on Xinjiang
1
Are you not legally allowed by your govt to acknowledge what’s happening in Xinjiang?
1
Looks a lot like how China treated their own migrant workers who went the cities to do labor jobs from 1980-2010ish. That leads me to believe that the pressure will continue to grown on Qatar and some (but limited) reforms will happen
1
15:31 points to subway doing a good job making fun of themselves and shows a kdrama web series that is tongue-in-cheek making fun of it all. The whole video has scenes from US show Community that had a whole episode on Subway paid subway. In that episode, Subway plays the bad guy. They make fun of subway.
1
Mission Impossible new movie is sort of this..
1
@Rockmaster867 "Often you can check metadata of the video files to see if it is the unedited original" Wouldn't that be ineffective if it's a copy of the video? I know it's effective on less effective edited videos but what about high quality edited videos?
1
@skkl8045 what happened in Syria? Do you mean Assad dropping chemical weapons on civilians! Or Russia targeting civilians and hospitals while it defends Assad dropping chemical weapons in civilians?
1
@hegaliandialectics4289 “most of the time many governments that were overthrown had communist leaders, democratically elected into power”. Simply not true. Name me all the Democratically elected communist leaders? And how many of them did the US do a coup? Now take that number and divide by the dozens of coups by the US.
1
@user-op8fg3ny3j why are you pro Russia and pro Hamas?

Johnny, this was perhaps the best of your "How X stole Y" episode. It was very on point with the facts, provided the right amount of context, and discussed some of the more nuanced issues like how many advancements in medicine came out the African colonies. And I love the ending...colonialism was brutal and terrible but many have learned from it and are trying to make progress as we move forward. Most of what I see as the best societal values generally comes from the west or Europe. By that I mean individual and human rights, civil rights for minority groups (including gender, sexual orientation, etc), democracy or just giving people power. What I do see lacking tend to be more personal values and parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America have something to share there, especially on the importance of close family ties. It does make me wonder what the world would be like if Soviet Union or Imperial Japan or some other current power like China were the ones influence values around the world.
1
@tzenzhongguo You are right, China and Iran are models for the world. We need more oppression!
1
@tzenzhongguo no, they are Middle East imperialist and East Asian imperialist
1
@tzenzhongguo you are right, it's not like China is currently trying to steal the SCS from it's neighbors nor threatening to invade Taiwan. Not like Iran isn't involved in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen?
1
@tzenzhongguo "Those individual human rights are immoral, " Yes, someone that supports dictators who drop chemical weapons on it's people and supports dictators that round up and sent millions to concentration camps (or "re-education" camps as Xi likes to call it ) would indeed say human rights are immoral.
1
@tzenzhongguo Russia is wining yet they keep losing ground? And they have 100k casualties? Even if they were winning, winning doesn’t make right. But you support concentration camps and chemical weapons on civilians so that explains it all.
1
@eski_truv Actually, a lot of those values were well before 25 years ago but certainly not 250 years ago. That's besides the points since yes, most of the values are from the past century or so and those values came at different time. Democracy, human rights, protesting, equality, etc. They may not have been given to the colonized but they arose from the colonial powers and when those colonies began to get their freedom, many of those rights were transferred either directly or indirectly. Hong Kong before 1997 when the UK handed it over to China had spent a couple decades before that using British type laws and democracy. Compare Hong Kong to China and you see exactly the point I and Johnny Harris are making.

@CJONTHEHOUSE two days later and still no clarification from you
1
I wasn’t aware of this and one day I’m watching Kdrama and I noticed twice people eating food wrapped in yellow and green. Figured it might be subtle ad for subway. Then a couple episodes later the main actor stops by a subway. It was obvious advertisement placement but towards the end of that first season, the team goes to celebrate and they go subway. It was so cringy. It was 10 minutes of seeing nothing but subway and one of them talking about how good the food is. Really off putting
1
Yes, the idea of a lottery is good but when it's being mostly bought by the poor, all it is doing is raising taxes from the poor. This is problematic.

Hello propagandist!
1
@Snipsnop260 linking no sources? YT doesn’t allow it — your vid you linked earlier can only be seen in my notification. The gdp per capita is on Wikipedia. What else do you need help on? You want a source on how the European ships were innovative? I can find you info on that if you truly just want to be educated and don’t want to waste my time.
1
@zinjanthropus322 i want to add more info on Zheng He ships. They were very large and bulky. They would be destroyed by European ships in battle and would sink in far easier in the deep sea navigation. This is why Zheng stayed near the coast and the they were mostly useful for transportation of large number of people and not open seas fighting. They were not superior to the European ships, they were different and served different purposes.
1
@zinjanthropus322 sure, Europeans didn’t have such comparable ships when Zheng built his. But 20-30 years later, they did. And from there on europe had far better ships. Also, most of of European trade and power historically was in the Mediterranean so never any need for for ships that could sail the oceans. So from 1450 and after, europe most certainly had better ships and better weapons and better banking systems. You are way under valuing how far along Europe was by 1500 with Italian states being richest in the world, Northern Europe and the Hansa league being another spot for wealthiest in the world, innovation in weapons and ship, ability to fund such voyages through out the 1500’s and 1600’s, etc. Western Europe 1500’s was a much different and wealthier place than Western Europe 600-1200 AD. academic research is literally what I used.
1
@zinjanthropus322 Arab ships were indeed comparable to European ships and better than Chinese ships of that time. But throughout 1500’s, European ships became superior which is why europe won out in the Indian Ocean and later Pacific Ocean. Tiny little Portugal in early 1500s was able to go around Africa and to Indian Ocean and fight to Draw with the ottomans who arguably were the most powerful empire of the 1500’s. From Wikipedia: - Unable to decisively defeat the Portuguese or threaten their shipping, the Ottomans abstained from further substantial action in the near future, choosing instead to supply Portuguese enemies such as the Aceh Sultanate. The Portuguese on their part enforced their commercial and diplomatical ties with Safavid Persia, an enemy of the Ottoman Empire. A tense truce was gradually formed, wherein the Ottomans were allowed to control the overland routes into Europe, thereby keeping Basra, which the Portuguese had been eager to acquire, and the Portuguese were allowed to dominate sea trade to India and East Africa
1
@zinjanthropus322 your arguments hold no value in discussion. You just try to point out that someone before had done it? Well, we play that game and we end up going back to the ancient Egyptians. What value does it bring to this discussion to say Arabs had banking before when by 1500 the best banking was in Italy? What value does is bring to the discussion that China had for a 20 year period the best navy when 20 years later they were surpassed by the Europeans? No one is arguing that europe was first in everything only that by 1500ish, Western Europe had become innovators in ship designs, banking, and weapons and that several parts of Western Europe were possibly the richest area in the world — Italian city states and Netherlands plus Hansa league
