Europe had already decided to cut off Russian gas and had demonstrated that it was serious. The pipeline was useless for Russia in the medium to long term. And in the short term it was more useful to Europe than it was to Russia.

  6. It's not connected. Russia has lots of gas and oil already and use of fossil fuels are on the decline anyway. This war has hurt Russia a lot more than they can gain from any additional oil or gas fields. This is an imperialistic war to extend the Russian territory; they are already printing new maps that add Ukrainian territory to Russia that Russian soldiers haven't even stepped a foot on.

  38.  @michealbaker8216  Um, no. They did better for some time as long as they had overwhelming advantage in artillery. Since their ammo depots began blowing up all the time, that has changed. Now they make haphazard attempts at advancing and are digging in in the south. All while desperately trying to get the West to pressure Ukraine into halting the war (keyword: nuclear power plant). I wonder why that is. Probably not because the Russian offensives are going so great.

  39. There was absolutely no reason for the US to blow up NS. Russia had halted gas delivery anyway. But Gazprom was liable for contract violations for not delivering gas as agreed - until NS was blow up. How convenient.

That also explains the public narrative about 'peace talks' and the renewed wave of pro-Russian trolls online. They are desperately trying to convince us that Ukraine is losing and the West is giving up. Luckily, this couldn't be further from reality.
