@darnit1944 They cannot exceed the qualities of Kamakura Period of a thousand years ago.
160
@darnit1944 Strength, durability, sharpness, etc. including their beauties. They even lost the qualities of tamahagane. No present day steel manufactures can produce those of kamakura period.

@socialreject2156 Darren Atm Today, all the chefs around the world go to Japan to buy Japanese knives. They realized that Western knives are inferior when they started cutting raw fish. They could not cut raw fish with Western chef knives. The highest quality product line of Solingen chef knives are produced in Japan today. Mass production methods have very little with katana production.
28
@socialreject2156 No Western chef knives are sharp enough to cut fish slice to the qualities that Japanese chef knives cut. Cutting meat is not an issue.
15
It was fine until people around the world found sushi and started eating. But already their cultivation has begun.
13
@Homeside301 Japan was never colonized by any other country.
13
@socialreject2156 The highest quality chef knives are produced by hand even today, not by scientific mass production methods. There is NO comparison.

@NitsuSaiNeko It is not just in the Japanese culture to write down these techniques. In the west, Logos can describe the truth if properly used, but in Japan, words are 言葉, only leaves, not permanent, eternal nor can it describe the truth.
11
@darnit1944 What is the basis of your argument for overrating? I have never seen any proper scientific criticism on HIGH QUALITY PROPER Japanese Katana. I have only heard people nagging. Anybody can talk about any fantasy they want if they do not have to prove. Have you? If so, show that to the world.
9
@justaspivoriunas9416 That is not my point. Socrates did not write down his thoughts but he still believed words could describe the truth. That is why he tried to express it in words though may not have been in writing. In Japan, that trust in words does not exist.
8
@socialreject2156 ??????? You did not even NAME which proper Katana.
8
@darnit1944 I did. But I have not seen any one researched on PROPER Katana. If you have, NAME it.
8
@darnit1944 that one pink hair dude You cannot back up any of your statement. All you can do is to dodge around and leave with a parting shot. What a miserable guy.....
8
@socialreject2156 ????????? You cannot talk about general property of katana by testing on one from a random shop in the US. You do not even know if it is from Chinese duplicate. I don't think the guy in your video have even bought or seen a proper katana or held one in his hands.
7
@darnit1944 Which modern steel outperforms ancient Katana and the proof?
7
@socialreject2156 ??????? Why should I avoid? It is YOU who cannot even NAME the sword. It is YOU who cannot even show that it is not Chinese duplicate that was tested on. I repeat: I have said I have NOT seen any proper scientific research tested on proper Japanese Katana. That is why I talk about chef knives. Also, the sword I have seen or held in my hands have NOTHING to do with the arguments here. Nothing. Admit that you have not seen any proper research but only seen video commented on katana which might have been a Chinese duplicate.
7
@darnit1944 Tamajagame is the steel itself before forging. The US cannot produce world class chef knives even today. It was Germany before. But now they realized that it was always Japanese knives. They all go to Japan to buy ones, not to the US.
6
@xiaolinglong108 ??????????? If that simple, how come all the chefs around the world are not buying US knives?
6
@mikemcklieve Japanese culture has a tendency to preserve old things or methods more than any other culture in the world, and this example of soy production is such an example. This is not to say that similar things would not happen in other parts of the world, but it is about tendency or statistics if you like.
5
@johpfit760 So you have not even eaten proper sushi, you have never used a Japanese knife, and you do not know any law of physics. And you are still trying to teach others about them. That makes sense. You did not even go to school, right?
5
@socialreject2156 Yes, many times. Name which one.
5
@HoangNguyen-hv1qy Just go to Japanese knives in Tokyo or Osaka. Today, the highest quality line of Solingen knives are produced in Japan.
5
No, these old things are never written, whether it be the production of soy sources or knives.
4
Dr.Science You can talk about any fantasy you want if you do not have to back up. If you are confident, go right ahead. All your forerunners miserably failed. You might have have some chance.
4
@muhammaddanishashraff9403 Mind your business.
4
@Joh pfit No knives other than those made outside Japan are sharp enough to cut raw fish to proper sushi grades. Simple as that. Show one, if you think otherwise. When the west start eating sushi, the western chefs realized that. That is why they all use Japanese knives when cutting fish.
3
@socialreject2156 ?????? I have said I have NOT seen any proper scientific research tested on proper Japanese Katana. If you have, name it.
3
@socialreject2156 ??????? It is YOU who keep on dodging around. You CANNOT talk about Japanese Katana based on Chinese duplicate. Admit that.
3
@mustardgas4000 ???????
3
@RinnzuRosendale ??????? Read the question.
3
@RinnzuRosendale ?????? I repeat. Read the question.
3
@dallasmoore7396 ??????? You can talk about any fantasy you want if you do not have to back up.
3
@dallasmoore7396 Read the question and go right ahead.
3
@dallasmoore7396 ??????? It is YOU who asked me. But turns out that you cannot even NAME one just like the rest.
3
@dallasmoore7396 Back up your statement first. If you cannot, just say so.
3
@dallasmoore7396 Read the question. You cannot even NAME it.
3
@supeguero0 If that simple, how come chefs are not buying knives from your country?
3
@supeguero0 ????????? Do not keep on dodging around like the rest.
3
@supeguero0 Wrong. Fish meat requires much sharper edges for slicing.
3
@supeguero0 Name the Katana you performed your scientific research on, and show they are not Chinese fabrications. Japanese chef knives are made for fish? I don't think you have held one. I don't think you have even been to a Japanese chef knife shop.
3
@Mallador-ed4eq Same and similar techniques. Historically, many the Katana makers becamse chef knife, plane producers etc., when samurai became no longer.
3
@runarjans Then how come no one is doing it?
3
@GuyIdiot I have been asking people like you to show the katana tested are not made in China, but no body did. I have not seen one myself. If you are confident, go right ahead. NAME the Katana tested.
3
@darnit1944 You cannot talk about katana based on tests on Chinese crap. You have not even held a proper Katana in your hands. Admit that.
3
@adamkimmV Even water can kill you if you hit the surface fast enough.
3
@dannylin5342 ????????? It is YOU who should read the thread more carefully. If you have seen a proper scientific testing on katana especially from Kamakura period, then show it. All your friends said similar thing, but all miserably failed when it is time to back up. I have been waiting. But I have not seen one. There is no point in talking about general qualities of Katana based on testings on Chinese crap. One idiot even boasted about his 300 dollar toy thinking it is a proper Katana. Talk away if you are confident.
3
@crrodriguez There is no way chemists can solve these problems.
2
@johpfit760 You can talk about any fantasy you want if you do not have to back up. If there is one, name it. But you can't. Because all sushi chefs are using Japanese knives since western equivalents are not sharp enough. Face it.
2
@johpfit760 Then, back up your statement. But you can't. Face it.
