  2. Yes the movie was total BS. The second one was even worse. The Spartans eventually also were defeated by other Greeks. I think their actual value as a fighting force has been exaggerated. Alexander was much more impressive.

Also, they never defeated the Zulu but made a treaty with them. Beat the Germans when? WWI if the Americans had not shown up they would have been finished. India had very backward people who had nothing to fight with. The Britsih only fought people with no modern weapons.

The only people to defeat the Mongols in the Middle East were the Mamalukes st the Mongols in they were converting to Islam and refused to fight against any other Muslims. The first real force to defeat the Mongols was on their second invasion of Hungary. They had a bunch of incompetent generals. and almost all the troops starved o death.This should only be about generals. All armies have had some great troops.

The Aztecs used wooden swords while the Purepecha had bronze swords, bronzed tipped spears and arrows. The Spartans really never conquered anyone. They eventually lost to the other Greeks. The samurai did work and spent most of their time intimidating peasants A female group of samurai arose and beat the men many times. Nothing is said about the Apache. Geronimo with less than 50 warriors held off 4,000 Union troops for months. The largest empire in history was actually the British empire. I was only speaking of the first invasion which was led by Subotai.  Second was led by a couple of morons.  Political hacks.  No intelligence at all.  No provisions for their troops.  They used the same battle plan as before.  Intelligence would have told them that the Hungarians were better prepared..  Also, that the Hungarians had taken in all the food they could from the farms and burned the rest.  Seeing that the dumb morons were using the same plan the Hungarians could easily counter attack.  No matter how good your troops , if you are led by an idiot you will lose.  Subotai was replaced due to politics and had to retire in Mongolia,.  Also, after the Hungarians took on and kicked their butts the Austrians then did the same. If the Mongols had been led by Subotai totally different outcome.

  50. Yes but soft metal will dull very quickly.  Copper is better than wood but bronze is better than Copper.   Iron is better than Bronze but steel is better than Iron.  Damascus steel was likely the best.
