  8. I agree - I hope people don't need to come out in the future. I hope it just becomes like telling someone that you find deep voices very attractive. It has no bearing on the way they're acting, really. Also, what the hell is the problem with the gay community and the way we judge each other? As far as gay jokes go, I usually am the one who is making the gay jokes. My best friend just rolls his eyes now. It's nice not being the "gay" one, but just the kid with the e39 530i.

  10. If it appears that your RMS is leaking after replacement, don’t forget to check your coolant/oil heat exchanger in the valley of the V. If its o-rings have failed, it can pour oil out the back of the motor in such a way that it leaks out like an RMS

  21. Re: cooling system refresh. The E39 M5 water pump is all metal (stainless steel). I replaced mine at 164,000 miles, and it looked good enough to put back in. I wouldn’t worry about the water pump. Replace the thermostat; they fail constantly. Replace the hoses, but leave the radiator alone. Mine’s original at 172,000mi. Replace the fan clutch. You could also upgrade to the spiral blade design of the E53 X5 and E65 7-series; they’re reputed to be quieter and waft more air.

  30. This car is why I subscribed way back in the day. I don’t know of any one who has swapped a steering rack in; that would require an entirely new oil pan design and subframe. It would be awesome, though.

  34. Wow. My 530i just runs out of steam above 80-ish MPH, but the S62 just PULLS! How do you like your Valentine overall? I'd like to pick one up, but I drive in LA, where radar signals are incredibly congested, and am concerned it would be more of a nuisance than useful.

  42. Eh, I don't know. I feel like the exhausts on the M3 are just amplifying the weird-ish tones of the S65. It sounds nice, but a little bit "ricey" to me. I find the e39 M5 and Ford/GM V8s with their larger displacements to have a nicer engine note. But of course, that's just, like, my opinion, man.
