@TedwardDrives If you haven't already, I highly recommend Canepa's 917/30 engine rebuild timelapse. It's on Vimeo. https://canepa.com/porsche-917-30-engine-time-build-time-lapse/

That dog is so adorable.
1
Tedward I love the video where she chases the RC car. So cute.
1
Mike Musto's Monte was amazing.
1
6:08 Dang it, just checked my email 🙄 You should use Siri; "read my text" will read out the most recent one. Super helpful when driving.
1
@Derrick G There will be an update on E39Source.
1
Tedward is from Massachusetts, I believe.
1
An Alpina B8 for me, please

How are you liking the EBC Yellowstuff overall? I'm looking for a more aggressive pad for my E39 M5. I can't stand noise, but I can live with lots of dust. How does the Yellowstuff fair on noise?
1
See the exhaust brackets at 1:53? the ones that make two half-circles with 13mm bolts just before the transmission crossmember? My M5's looked like they came off the Titanic. I recommend removing those, having them sandblasted and painted/powdercoated to preserve them. Or buying new ones. I had to do the latter.
1
For the GTI springs, you could just buy a 22mm socket and hack the center out. Then you could use an allen key to hold the strut still. EZ. Worked for my E39.

Privatization rarely goes well...
1
I've been here for a while; before the Viterbo vlogs (remember those?). Thank you for your enthusiasm and dedication. It is truly a joy to watch! I look forward to seeing what the future holds.

The first job I worked was miserable, just like yours. A corporate pizza place with crappy managers. I quit. The 2nd was hard, for sure, still in pizza, but the camaraderie among the staff was amazing. I think that 2nd place saved my life, honestly, and I made life-long friends.
1
I love everything about this car. Except the wheels. The chunky looking design just doesn't do it for me, especially with those optional, beautiful thin spoke wheels...
1
Ultimate Cup Holders. Com. I’ve had em for 5 years in 4 E39s.
1
JNCOs lol.
1
With respect, this is not a rare combination. The heritage full leather interior seen here, most commonly optioned with wood trim, is a very common interior among all E39s. There were 509 Carbon black and heritage full leather E39 M5s made, making it the 6th most common spec of E39 M5.

EBC Yellowstuff added to wishlist ;) How is the dust?
1
Damn. I hate cleaning my Style 42s :(
1
I'm with Nick Murray on this one - Alcantara is a horrible automotive fabric.
1
I’ve been driving my E39s without front plates for 6 years. Never been pulled over for it.
1
Tedward Dirty silver sedan, too. Doesn’t attract too much attention. :)
1
Costco is the only place I've never had issue with.
1
I always keep an extra drain plug on hand for such times as these. Oh well.
1
@TedwardDrives Haha, thanks! Always welcome :)
1
How was cruising in the Rangie? I’ve always thought they’d be awesome dailies, but E39 maintenance is enough of a headache as it is...
1
Haha, I believe it’s a friend’s car
1
I wish I could weld :( Fabrication is so cool!
1
So it encourages you to drive really quickly, or more reasonably than my natural cruising speed of 80 ;)
1
Alex Roy is the best. Great guy, great stories, great legacy. That makes it sound like he's dead, lol. He's still awesome.
1
I vote Dinans + Konis. The drop is minimal, but the handling gains are big, especially as you push the car even a little bit. So much more confidence-inspiring.
1
I'm looking to pick up an E30 and throw an M54B30 in. Imagine this thing with ~230ish hp, all-aluminum VANOS motor that revs to 7500 (with cams & an oil pump). Yummy!
1
I purchased a nice Duralast AGM H8 battery in 2014, and I've never been stranded by it. It sat in my totaled 530i for 8 months and still fired up on my first crank.
1
Love those wheels. My first 530i had E39 fitment dealer installed 71s and they’re 😍
1
Happy birthday!
1
Would you go SMG or manual for the E60 M5?
1
True, easy choice. Now, assuming it's possible (and a few people have done it), would you have an E60 M5 with the E9x DCT or manual? I think the DCT in that car would be really special.
1
I use that drain pan all the time on my own E39 530is (I have three...), and it's great. Managed to drain the whole transmission and engine into it, no overflow.
1
Hah, well, next oil change... :)
1
The SES light is because you don't drive it enough 😉
1
Porsches are the best because they don't lose value like mad when they are driven like they're supposed to be.
1
3:09 Plot twist: Eddy is the date 😘
1
Do a Mk4 nav upgrade if you haven't yet, and you can add things like a newer radio module for an aux input.
1
What production month/year is your car? It should say on the inside of the door where the VIN is.
1
Nah, I say leave it stock. I'd keep any parts that you upgrade, too, just for the future.
1
There's more to brakes than just the pads. There may be a good amount of pad left, but those rotors are developing a significant lip, and may need replacement when you next replace the pads.
1
4:08 Use some G-techniq C4 trim restorer on those faded seat belt release buttons - turns it back to red, lasts for years.
1
If you ever get the opportunity in SoCal, run up Angeles Crest Highway late at night, 11pm or later. It's amazing.
