Yeah, and on my e39, the paint is rock hard. Like, even M105 on a wool cutting pad leaves behind swirls. I have to do a full vehicle wetsand if I want to correct the majority of the issues, and that's risky on OE clear coat.

Though a repaint would be after I convert the interior leather to E46 M3 Cinnamon, which is scrumptious.
1
Right, and it's pretty easy to get online, too (AutomotiveTouchUp.com). Hmm... I could do my E39's bumper/door trim and mirrors in the color as a highlight...
1
lol
1
Wait, you're next to a white board there... Coming for Engineering Explained now?! TRIGGERED
1
Have fun! Why is big-city airport design always insane? Too small for the number of people flowing through...
1
ACH is awesome. As a local, it's one of my favorites, though I'd still say Lake Hughes Road is better, at least in my bigger E39. ACH is probably more suited to something like the Miata, or a BRZ.

Nice intro! Dig it.

There's a GT-R, a Panamera, Ghibli, Granturismo(s), 718 Boxster, a 911 Turbo Cab, and tons of Model Ss.

Matt's damage was insanely bad... I like his car content, though it runs quite long. Thankfully, I've never had a problem with mice in our cars, including my dad's old pickup truck that has been sitting inside and outside for more than 6 years now.
1
:( That sucks, man. Enjoy some time off!
1
Have a safe flight! I'll be leaving on my own road trip on Wednesday; my dad and I are going to take part in some of the Monterey Car Week festivities in California. I've been debating whether or not I should make an e39source video on it, since I'll be going in my 530i. Think I should?
1
Fire suppression system to go with those racing harnesses? Sounds brilliant! Stock engine outside of the exhaust? What fuel injection system did these come with?
1
Mmm...Donuts!
1
Big brake kits are sooo expensive for E39s... like $5-8k. But I want one for my 530i bad.
1
Also, stop making me hungry... :)
1
And he doesn't like the newer BMWs, either.
1
0:55 WHAT? I CANT HEAR YOU! 😉

The new NSX doesn't do anything for me anymore... Five years ago, when I saw it sitting in the Acura booth at the local auto show, I thought it was really cool; tech rivaling the 918 at Ferrari California prices? Sign me up! But now... eh? It's kinda awkward-looking, and according to most reviews I've read, the driving experience is about 80% there. Which is unfortunate. But I think the Lotus Evora has taken over the pure driving experience from the original NSX.
1
Tedward For sure. And one thing about Acuras/Hondas, it will run in spite of you (not because of you, like German cars) for 200k.
1
Haha, true
1
Where did you buy your front license plate mount?
1
kynryt Oh, which one is that?
1
kynryt I have a 530i, so it came with already-open brake ducts. Good to know, thanks!

Morning voice? Morning voice. ;)

Yeah, the 9/11 memorials in New York, and the one out in Pennsylvania, are both really moving, too. It's a fascinating place to visit. No one - at all, bar none - is goofing off or disrespecting them in any way. It's all too real.
1
2 guys, 1 Miata, 1 shirt... Hmmm. ;)

Food chain at its finest!

Some of the pictures from Italy are terrifying. Growing up in SoCal, I am used to frequent small earthquakes, and our buildings are designed for them. But in the old world? Yikes.
1
Tedward Yeah, and the way those old walls crumbled, there was no chance. My hope is that it was like the CA quakes; rolling, and slowly building. If it was a few big jolts, there would have been no time to try to get under a sturdy table or doorway.

Regarding the cameras, a used, super-inexpensive Canon T3i w/ "Magic Lantern" firmware is very useful (speaking from experience). It has that flip out rear screen, and with Magic Lantern you can have Zebras and Focus Peaking highlighting, which makes it super easy to focus things quickly and properly. Didn't end up filming any car week events, unfortunately; too busy and I was way too tired. Might still do a little slideshow for YouTube; just discussing the route I took and talking about how to do "Monterey Car Week on a College Budget".
1
Very cool story to go with the car; that's usually more important than the car itself.
1
Whoops! Ouch, bet that 5 figure repair wasn't fun...
1
Lol, I haven't seen the F&F movies either. Can't be bothered, and the sped up footage and crazy antics would just leave me upset.
1
In-N-Out! Best fast food ever!
1
Haha, must be nice to shave once a quarter! XD I've traveled by train across the US a couple of times now on Amtrak; how did the European train compare (if you have)? It looks like the seats are far more comfortable in Europe.
1
I'd take a 997 GTS. A little more subtle, which I love.
1
Haha!

@Affalterbach1967 In fairness, their website works. It’s where I go first.
1
Just curious; where do you pull your music from? I'm guessing you don't make it yourself... :)
1
I forget that things on the East Coast are relatively close together. So nice!
1
You should get a Shark tune for the sport mode memory alone.
1
Hurley Haywood is the only gay race car driver I can think of. And I’ve payed attention to racing since I was a kiddo.
1
I don't have that kind of bandwidth (or computer performance, really) at home :( 7 Mbps DSL blows.
1
Two men in a convertible Porsche. Hmmm... ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaskOQMl1Pk

4:51 Don’t bother with any aftermarket stereos, there’s a team working on CarPlay for the E39/E53/E46 nav’s right now
1
Is that Reed's Ginger beer? My favorite beverage!
1
DoctaM3 My 01 M5 is sidelined with a spun connecting rod bearing, but I still love it.
1
Unique, and problematic. They're known to leak and pour corrosive fluid onto the center console
1
Aircooled engines that make big power are very finicky. Think Porsche 917/30.
