I watched much of the National Press Club address on the ABC. The whole time I was watching it I kept thinking to myself the bigots and gas-lighters on SkyNews are going to go apeshit over this. Right on queue ......

Eddie, people like YOU are one of the prime reasons the 'voice' failed. Entitled, smug, can't articulate are benefits, and have a vested interest in keeping the aboriginal grievance industry alive as possible.
50
Being lectured about health by someone who is clearly significantly obese, likely to have type 2 diabetes and hypertension .... Sort of sums up the whole covid issue.

There is a lot I don't agree with Sharri on, but on this one she is 100% on the money.
48
So you catch a taxi, crowded bus or train full of un-vaccinated people to get to the museum, and then have to prove you're vaccinated to get inside. Makes perfect sense to me.
47
"Mary had a little lamb" ... seems about the only thing I can say without being immediately deleted by YouTube
47
I must admit I'm really looking forward to the debate between Mike Pence and the Democrat candidate for the Presidency tomorrow at 12.00 noon Australia time. I really like Mikes' calm style, I reckon he'll eat her for breakfast.
47
You've made the right decision Kerry. You don't deserve an award.
46
Bit rich being constantly welcomed to Australia by people who in 95% of cases haven't been here as long as I have.
44
I think support is divided 50 50. You have the 'thinking' sector of the population who support his stance, and then you have the 'sheep' who just take on board the media narrative which is anti Novak (as he represents a challenge to the fear/control campaign the media have been running for the past 2 years)
44
It was 42.2C in Perth on the 20th December 1904 ..... so please spare me the implied climate change narrative. 42C+ degree days in Perth in summertime are quite common, being routinely recorded as long as official records have been kept.
43
Again, just demonstrates how totally stupid and out of touch the people claiming to be running the show really are. They don't realize, or more likely pretend not too, the public has long since stopped taking any notice of them and is moving on with their lives. Now just a few businesses are being punished by the government to demonstrate its 'authority', nothing else. You can crowd thousands in a busy shopping center, get in a busy peak hour train, but you can't have more than 10 people in a restaurant the size of a large hall. Just mindless stupid authoritarianism for zero health reasons.
43
With a comment like that, I wonder who is REALLY the "hate monger".
42
@russellmulkentine8087 Where did he "get that option (I'm assuming you meant to type opinion) from". It's what a lot of people think. Didn't the last 2 years of covid teach you anything about 'misinformation' by public institutions and the media? You can't trust a single word they say and would be wise to be skeptical of everything they put out. It's not factual news these days, its basically just all propaganda.

Rowan did an excellent job this morning pointing out 'The Voice' already exists. Not kind off, not just because there are a number of aboriginal people in parliament, but because it REALLY does exist EXACTLY in the form and function the 'yes' campaign are pushing for. It is called the National Indigenous Australians Agency. It has a full time staff, headed by an aboriginal person, was established by Executive Order in 2019, and is funded by the Federal Parliament. Its 'mission statement' is EXACTLY what 'the voice' is supposed to do, and another body would be a complete duplication. From the NIAA website's Mission Statement ....... "to lead and coordinate Commonwealth policy development, program design and implementation and service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; to provide advice to the Prime Minister and the Minister for Indigenous Australians on whole-of-government priorities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; to lead and coordinate the development and implementation of Australia’s Closing the Gap targets in partnership with Indigenous Australians; and to lead Commonwealth activities to promote reconciliation."
42
Plead guilty or stay in prison for another 30+ years. Only a complete clown would trying and use that he pleaded guilty to get out would try and use that as evidence of anything other than what any sane person would do in those circumstances.
42
I've always had my doubts about the intelligence of the average Queenslander. This just reinforces that belief.
42
Don't look at as an increase in faith, see it as another (and a BIG) final nail in the Morrison government coffin.
40
Give it a rest SkyNews, you're just coming across as even more pathetic than usual.
40
Only a truly evil person would advocate planning in October to deny the most basic of services e.g. haircuts, access to shops, etc to people who haven't been fully vaccinated. Not for any scientifically supported medical reason (in fact it says the opposite), but purely to exert their authority. This has now gone WAY beyond just a major inconvenience, and has become the most serious suppression of basic rights in the history of Australia.
39
Chris, the reason No supporters don't 'boo' is because overall they are decent Australians. They are not like your typical yes supporter who will do anything, say anything, to try and force their beliefs down everyone else's throat. Yes supporters like you Chris.
39
Joe, as you service to the community is greatly appreciated and valued, a tip on how to look after your health, and dramatically reduce your chance of a bad covid experience ..... change your lifestyle and loose the weigh.
39
Government, tracking everywhere you go, allowing or denying you entry to the most basic life services e.g. a hair cut ...... all based on forcing you to get injected with something you really didn't want or need. Isn't this just f'ing BRILLIANT!!!
39
Nickolas says he is now on his second electric car. Well that certainly isn't very environmentally responsible, given electric vehicles haven't been around all that long. I'm running the same car I've owned for the past 25 years, and as it runs perfectly expect it to last at least another 10.
39
Given there was some controversy over the voice discussion on the ABC's Q&A, decided to see what it was on their on demand app. Didn't last long enough watching this dreadful show to get to that bit, but there was another bit discussing how a 'voice' in Canberra would solve the problem of earlier death rates among indigenous people. One of the four members of the panel was an aboriginal lady, out of respect won't mention her name. Relatively young, and VERY morbidly obese. Young Lady, it's not a self appointed activist committee in Canberra, nor regional, nor local that is going to stop you dying young (which you likely will). The only person who can change your current trajectory is YOU by stop shoving junk 'food' down your mouth and doing exercise. It's called "taking personal responsibility".
39
Unbelievable that a politician could accuse others of trying to achieve outcomes to their advantage by pushing "stoking fear in the community, telling falsehoods". This is ALL both state and the federal governments have done for the past 2 years. And continue to do it now.
38
Yes, it IS a simple request. For a 'voice' (read unelected self-appointed activist body) to negotiate with the Federal parliament for a separate aboriginal 'nation' (treaty) funded by the rest of Australia (makarrata). If that's what people want, well that's what they get if this thing gets up. Me, I'll be doing everything to stop it. One nation, one people, all EQUAL in the eyes of the law.
38
I actually found the program quite insightful. Monique Ryan is even less intelligent and nastier than I originally thought.
38
Agree with an Albanese, it is intended to be a "means to an end". And that end is a system of aboriginal sovereignty run by the elites, even greater handouts. It is pure spin to say it will address issues like incarceration rates, well not unless it advocates that aboriginal men repeatedly bashing up their women or ignoring AVO's should not be imprisoned.
38
I used to tell my kids when they were young, don't ever lie to me because there may come a time when you need me to trust you without question (didn't work but that's beside the point). The government has constantly lied, exaggerated, withheld important facts, pushed only one side of the agenda, stuffed key thing up, etc, etc, ever since this thing stared. Now they ask me to "trust them", LOL.
37
And people think Donald can be condescending and 'abrasive'. Mere amateur compared to this guy.
37
0:50 mark .... "oh shit, I forgot to put on my mask for the cameras".
37
Every night we hear this woman pushing for tolerance and understanding. And then she can spew out this narrow minded bile.
37
It it now absolutely clear that Gladys will say ANYTHING depending on the circumstances. A week or so ago the key focus was 'infectious in the community', now case numbers don't even matter. Not only is she corrupt and incompetent, she is truly evil.
36
Chris Kenny, you loose whatever small amount of credibility you may have trying to defend the indefensible. Imagine someone caught having a long running affair with their secretary, and trying to say it wasn't a serious relationship because they'd never told their family about it. Or it wasn't a conflict of interest, for the boss assisting said secretary to get ahead in the office. Chris, such feeble and flawed attempts to support your bias in politics actually don't make you look real smart.
36
Australia has NO "obligation" to provide military assistance to Ukraine. The US initiated the conflict, let them alone see if they can sort it out (which they won't and will eventually leave Ukraine as a smoking ruin, just the same as every other of their proxy wars).
36
How to take about 10 minutes to say ...... exactly nothing.
36
Gladys, expect the supermarkets in and around the 3 LGA's you named to be stripped totally bare by hordes of people packing into them and hording up on stupid things like toilet paper. You don't want panic buying, you don't want people going out ....yet just about every time you open you month out comes statements that achieve the complete opposite.
36
WHY did the police "usher" in this group of masked men wearing black and their faces mostly covered? Who REALLY are these people? Did the police have prior knowledge this group would attend, and had been given instructions to let them in without challenge? THAT to me is by far the most important question that needs to be answered. And for some mysterious reason is not being asked.
35
Linda Burney, as Minister for Indigenous Affairs, has responsibility for an aboriginal organisation of 1300 staff, an annual budget of 4.6 BILLION dollars, staffed by mostly aboriginal people, which has the defined responsibility of advising Burney and the Government on matters affecting aboriginal people. She has a MASSIVE 'voice'. For a person who identifies as aboriginal Linda Burney seems to be doing alright for herself despite so called systemic disadvantage. Cabinet Minister who owns 7 houses, more than any other politician.
35
How about this for a novel idea, if the UK had wanted to minimize the impacts of the first wave of covid .... try not using aged care facilities as a hospital overflow facility for people infected with covid. I haven't studied medicine, but even I know that is about the most STUPID thing that anyone could possibly do. Same stupidity occurred in New York.
35
The idea that revealing the name pf the person will tip of 'enemy' on operational matters is an insult to people's intelligence. They ALREADY know who it is, it's only the Australian general public who don't know.
35
Hey, lets find a GP who works at the local medical center, who has probably never even seen a covid patient let alone have ANY expertise in the field, and get him to pronounce the end of the problem. Well done SkyNews, keep up the brilliant work, and whatever you do don't let science or facts get in the way of your obvious vaccine promotion campaign.
35
@forestgreen435 The current mess in Australia has been created by 'leaders' (term used loosely) from BOTH sides of politics. In fact, NO current Australian leader has taken a true conservative/libertarian approach to managing covid. None!
35
Good news to hear from the Pfizer CEO that I need to be "annually vaccinated for Covid like Influenza". As I don't get annually vaccinated for Influenza and have got alone just fine, seems the recommendation from the experts is neither are necessary.
35
One of the great mysteries is just how/where did Hannibal in 218BC take his 100,000 men, 30+ elephants, and 2000 horses over the Alps to attack the Romans. A task impossible today, even with a fleet of helicopters to ferry in the massive amount of food that would be necessary to feed the animals. The only plausible explanation is that he was able to make his way up valleys with plenty of feed for the animals (now completely coved with snow/ice).
34
Chris Kenny is proving himself to be a total grub. The speech by Warren Mundine at the National Press Club was of the highest standard, and should be compulsory viewing for every voting Australian.
34
Talk about spin "touched by outpouring". From what I saw it was 'not you lot again, I just want to get into my office to get some things, wish you'd all just piss off'.
34
This is what Kenny doesn't get. He thinks people dislike him so much now simply because he has a difference of opinion. No, its his arrogance and style in delivering that opinion that pisses people off.
34
Why worry about people smugglers when a million people a year are just flying into the place.
