  2. Australian inflation is not falling. The average person's wage is virtually totally consumed by just three things, rent, food, fuel. All three categories are still experiencing double digit annual increases. And with current government policies, this trend is unlikely to change. Don't care what the ABS says with its totally unrepresentative of 'basket of goods'.

Higgins fully admitted during the trial her key motivation for resurfacing the matter a couple years after it occurred was to join the pile on of Christian Porter. The timing of when it was released to the media was based around when Parliament was sitting, so as to allow the then Labor opposition to bring maximum embarrassment to the Minister. This matter was a key aspect of 'the Liberals have a woman problem' being pushed hard by Labor and its mates in the media. While a very grubby campaign, it seems it was affective with women voters.

  4. It has been estimated that 'rewiring the nation' to accommodate all the wind and solar farms to achieve (hopefully) 85% will cost upward of ONE TRILLION DOLLARS or more. That's the equivalent of twenty-five nuclear power station (at the top end cost of 40 Billion each), enough to power the whole of Australia for the next hundred years with near ZERO adverse impact on the environment (both physically and visually). By the time Snowy 2 is finished, and likely to ever produce little, a nuclear power plant could have been built in the same timeframe and cost.

  5. Those responses by Tanya Plibersek are why she is unfit to hold public office. Nuclear is a NOT the most expensive form of electricity generation. While the initial build cost is high, ongoing costs are relatively cheap. And given the life of a reactor can be virtually indefinite (Nine Mile Point in the US is now 50 years old), the end result is VERY cost competitive. So what if it takes decades to get nuclear power stations up and fully operational. There is no immediate crisis, other than the one the government has created by forcing coal plants out of the market. And the comment "I don’t think anybody wants to live next door to a nuclear reactor" is the stuff you expect to hear at a 1st year university student rally. There is no shortage of suitable sites alongside existing remotely located coal fired power stations.

Why don't you balance reporting of these CDC studies with the initial findings of a real world Israeli study (only made public a few days ago) involving hospital staff, which found that even FOUR shots didn't materially prevent infection from Omicron. Or that some experts are concerned constant boosters may make matters worse as repeated use has the potential to permanently weaken a persons immune system.

  12. Lockdowns are a TERRIBLE idea. Even the WHO now say they should only be considered as a VERY last resort if there is clear evidence the hospital system is going to be overwhelmed. We have lockdowns in Australia, in every state to various degrees, and there is not a single person in an ICU, and about 10 people in hospital in the whole of Australia. Outcome, the economy has been trashed, and will take generations to recover, long after the existence of covid is forgotten.

  14. Is there ANY country on the planet that hasn't been conquered or colonized (call it what you will) by some other nation, race, etc. Not just once, but literally hundreds of times in some cases. The WHOLE planet has been shaped this way. When I went to school we we taught that subsequent waves of aboriginal people dispossess tribes already here, and forced them to migrate South. Not sure if this is fact, but who in their right mind would have chosen to just pass through the vastly more pleasant and futile parts of Australia to go live in freezing wet Tasmania.

  16. The guy is dishonest. Yes, right at this point in time he only owns three properties. But his official government pecuniary interest register, clearly shows that as recent as 15 September last year he owned FOUR properties, where he records the sale of this fourth Marrickville investment property, and clears the mortgage on it. Not a bad strategy to cash out one of his investment properties at close to the peak of the market. He still retains a family home in Marrickville, a unit in Canberra, and an investment house in Dulwich Hill. The prospect of these sleezebags having control of Australia is truly frightening.

  17. The governments spin is that the over 1 TRILLION dollar debt run up in response to covid was prudent and appropriate. That is simply utter crap. It was a completely unnecessary and irresponsible overreaction. With interest rates now starting to soar the cost of this irresponsibility will cripple the county for decades. P.S. Would Labor have been any better? No, would have been worse had they been running the show. Neither side has any moral high ground to lecture about being 'responsible'.

  21. What a stupid summary of the issue by the Newscorp journalist, trying to reframe the issue as supporting same sex rights. Same sex rights are not being denied to ANYONE. Wearing the jumper is about PROMOTING same sex relationships which is a totally different matter. It's painfully obvious that someone whose religious faith doesn't support that notion would be troubled by such an activity. I'm not religious in any way whatsoever, and fully support peoples right to have whatever types of relationships they want with other adult people. I do however equally support someone right to hold a more conservative view.

  33. A good start would be to sack Linda Burney as Minister for Indigenous Affairs. As Minister she is ultimately responsible for all problems being experienced in aboriginal communities across Australia, but especially those in the NT where the Federal Government has ultimate responsibility on all matters. Ken Wyatt as the former Minister in the LNP government was equally unimpressive. Any organisation experiencing problems of this magnitude for decades would sack the CEO, in this case it is the Minister. Just because someone has a little more dark pigment in their skin does not make then qualified to deal with complex matters. It also makes a total mockery of the line aboriginal people constantly run, that only aboriginal people know the solutions to their problems. FFS, for the past 10 years the 'boss' is a person who identifies as aboriginal.

  45. Two of the three people who died had received on jab, and both caught the virus in hospital from one assumes fully vaccinated staff. And day after day Gladys turns up telling people high vaccinations rates are central to stopping the spread of the Delta variant. An important issue, being central to the 'logic' of keeping NSW in strict lock-down, vaccinating children, etc. P.S. That they were in hospital at the time of catching covid is a clear indication they were not people in good health.
