Astonishing how many farmers decided to vote themselves out of their closest and largest market.

Johnson: "Get rid of the backstop and we'll find an alternative arrangement." EU: "Find an alternative arrangement and we'll get rid of the backstop." (Shamelessly stolen from Twitter)

Fines should be a %age of earnings so that fines affect rich people the same way they do poor people. Or at least more similar.
276
Why is this a shock? It's been happening all over Europe and in the US for a few years now.
257
Boris Johnson is asking the EU to allow the UK to access to the common market without it having to follow common market rules that every other nation accessing the common market has agreed to. He knows the EU are not able to make a special exception for the UK because that would be at the expense of the security of the other 27 nations.
228
They are asking the EU for something they know the EU can not give. It is a bluff. The tactic here is to blame the EU for the sever problems the Brexiteers going to inflict on the UK. They want to make the British public hate the EU so much that in the event of a general election the British public will vote for a no-deal Brexit whatever the cost.

Priti Patel is not sorry that there have been failings, she is only sorry that people FEEL there have been failings.

Trump never did respect when a woman says "no".

FANTASTIC journalism. I love that some journalist are still looking to find the truth and expose the frauds.
93
Vote for loonies, end up with loonies in government.
91
You don't pay any tax when you die. The person who receives the house has done zero work to pay for that house. They are getting it for nothing. It is income and therefore should be taxed.
80
Three weeks too late is not "the right time".
78
Is there nothing this Government can't completely break?
75
All the experts said Brexit would be bad for business. Turns out Brexit is bad for business. Who knew? (apart from all the expert and everybody else everywhere).
72
It took three days and a bunch of burned down buildings before they even charged him.
71
Brexit is already trashing the economy and they are still calling it "project fear¨. Brexiteers will tell us anything to further their agenda regardless of the consequences to actual working people.
70
"Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past." - GeorgeOrwell The government are retrospectively changing the law so that an UNELECTED BUREAUCRAT will no longer have broken it.
65
@RightiousRoots "💁Thank your Democrats for it" - Obviously Trump will blame his economic disaster on the Democrats and Trump supporters will believe him.
63
There is no deal. Boris wants what he knows the EU cannot give. This is not hard. Why do the media allow Boris to get away with this obvious bluff? Boris knows the EU can not offer the kind of deal he wants so he is going for a no-deal and looking to blame the EU for it.
62
The phrase "Fake News" has become international code for "I Am Lying".
59
One again the EU bending over backwards to do the right thing. England is nothing but an embarrassment in all this. Boris claims he wants a deal but he keeps asking for that which is impossible for the EU to deliver. Britain entered into these agreements, we should man up and stop being the crybabies of Europe wanting to break our commitments at the expense of 27 other countries.
55
Interesting that JRM admitted there are a lot of remainers in the Conservative Party.
54
An "apology" is meaningless. He should have been kicked out. No one forced him to harass women.
53
@Simon John WTO rules makes everything harder to buy and sell because it all gets rather more expensive. It means Britain will be at a competitive disadvantage in both the EU and the US. So good luck with WTO.
53
Rishi told us what his plan is. He said he was taking money away from deprived people and giving it to middle class people. I mean he literally said that on camera.
52
Why do we only "step up our response" AFTER we get an increase in infections that we all knew was going to happen?
51
What a perfect time to put up trade barriers that have reduced European trade by 70%. Even better when we hit the end of the Brexit Grace Period in a couple of months making economic growth even harder. And what luck that we are bleeding business in our financial sector to the EU and the US. Perfect time for Brexit.
46
According to the people in the video they actually think the Tories are going to invest in the NHS and other public services. Everything these people believe is the exact opposite of reality.
42
Before Brexit "Take Back Control" . After Brexit "Give Control To America" .
40
Well at least the oil companies are making billions in profits thanks to the fuel crunch.
39
@Simon John Oh and for those who are dependent on USA food - be warned at how badly the USA blackmails other countries into doing what it tells them to under threats of high tariffs (think Mexico). USA is putting America first. The only deal we will get with the US will be a very very bad one.
39
I'm pretty sure "inhumane" is the entire point of it. Hostile Environment 101.
38
The US is so broken. 50% of the population would rather children suffer and die than give up their dreams of Rambo.
36
Boris becomes a dictator as he deliberately circumvents the Sovereignty of Parliament.
35
Surprise surprise, Boris won the election on his deal and it turns out he has no intention whatsoever of forming any long term relationship with the EU. In 11 months its NO-DEAL just like Boris wanted all along.
34
Who pays for this price cap freeze? We need to pay as much of this back from Windfall Tax on the Oil & Gas companies so we don't have to pay it ourselves. And the UK has truly massive debts already thanks to the pandemic.
34
"We are the European stool" - EXACTLY!!! Well said!!
30
What did the US expect when they themselves abandoned the "deal"? Trump wanted this so he has an excuse to invade. He provoked it.
30
@EnglishTurbines That's interesting given that leaving on WTO rules wasn't on the ballot paper. Most people never heard of WTO until after the referendum.
29
The NI Protocol is a compromise. Boris just wants to make the EU look bad for all the damage Brexit is causing. Britain is such an embarrassment now. Boris promised Brexit which was impossible to deliver, and now he wants the EU to suffer the damage caused by it.
29
No, the problem is not having enough labour. If businesses pay more wages, then their products become more expensive and workers have to pay more to buy them. The benefit they got from higher wages is lost because of higher costs. The idea that migrant workers suppressed wages is absolutely false. Before Brexit we had lowest unemployment numbers for 50 years. That means migrant workers were not pushing wages down, they were enabling our economy to grow larger than it normally would. Thanks to Brexit our economy is now shrinking and any increase in wages because of worker shortages will soon be lost in inflation and a shrinking economy.
29
@retrowatches1655 "His last term inflation went down when he implemented tarrifs " - Nope. Inflation under Obama 2009 - 2017 1.4% , Inflation under Trump 2017 - 2021 1.9% . Trump inherited a great economy and then caused a great deal of harm to American farmers when he started his ill-judged trade war with China - which he inevitably lost and capitulated.
28
He is trying to blame the EU for no-deal Brexit. They are asking the EU for something they know the EU can not give.
28
It astonishes me that this government seems to completely fail to see the problem this is about to cause. I mean, obviously, THEY can afford the coming crisis. But you would think they could LOGICALLY deduce that millions of people are going to be made desperate. They have proposed NOTHING to fix this, just extremely inadequate band-ads.
27
@JackieDean-ll8qn How is my point not clearly stated in my post?
26
Boris Johnson won't lose his house and have to eat from a food bank if we go no deal. But a lot of people will.
25
Did anyone check on the "bad weather" story? I did try to find stories in the Spanish press about adverse weather damaging crop yields but couldn't find anything. That doesn't necessarily mean that it didn't happen, it may just not be considered news-worthy in Spain.
25
So basically Russia is worried about NATO putting nuclear weapons closer and closer to Russia. Why is this not being explicitly pointed out? It is not an unreasonable thing for Russia to be concerned about. And there have to be red lines beyond which Russia can not allow such weapons to cross. All this tension and drama when all NATO needs to do is hammer out a proper agreement with Russia as to how far away they need to keep their nukes from each other. Simples.
