@Anymonkey70 "Not a lot of time for edits back then." - There would have been time but Boris wanted it rushed through. When Parliament voted to slow the process down Boris withdrew the bill and only returned it after he won his majority. Then he forced it through parliament super-quickly without allowing Parliament to read and inspect it.

@perpetualintellectual2026 "Why should he apologise?" - He shouldn't. he should be honest about who he is. of course, there should be no room for hate-mongers like him in government. Which is why it is good that he is honest about his racism.
12
@brettworrallo395 "A felony in woke land" - A felony in law. But you wanted a criminal to run your country and you got exactly what you wanted.
12
Who cares about people not being able to afford houses because we can't build as many? Who cares about companies having to reduce output because they don't have enough workers? Who cares about food rotting in the fields and everyone having to pay more for food? As long as Carl is alright. Even though he was wrong about everything. Migrant workers do NOT depress wages and yes, British people were also able to go work anywhere in Europe until Carl restricted their ability to work and earn a living, but he's okay.

Team UK = Team Obey Westminster
11
Those slogans were created by racists to detract from the cry for help from racial minorities who actually need it.
11
@jameswhiteley6843 Whatever lockdowns have done, Brexit added to it and makes recovery much harder.
11
Which is why they should be linked to wealth IMO.
11
That wasn't a nurse that was an anti-lockdown lunatic who deserves to be locked up.
11
By spreading propaganda and lies, Trump has literally made millions of Americans believe the free and fair election was fixed by the president elect . The storming of the Capitol is totally his fault. He has been deliberately undermining the election for months.
11
This Conservative government has not been investing in the NHS. They have been cutting back the NHS for over a decade. The NHS was on its knees even before this virus hit.
11
If only we were a member of the EU we would have a seat at the table of power throughout Europe. Not being a member means the EU can just ignore anything we say.
11
Revoking Article 50 actually delivers more Brexit leave campaign promises than a no-deal crash out does.
11
@JW-YT "I dont understand why so many of my fellow independence supporters are pro-eu" - Maybe because they want to be in a union and they choose the union with the largest free trading area in the world, and hundreds of deals with countries all over the world rather than the xenophobic, small-minded, union with a falling currency, zero trade deals and who are about to be screwed over by the US.
11
James Smith You voted to leave the EU, not the Customs Union. Your politicians rejected a deal that WOULD have taken us out of the EU. They voted against it. They should live with their rejection of Brexit instead of driving the country over a cliff that was never voted for.
11
@brentmeistergeneral6074 "you are literally penalising the rich for doing well in life" - No. You are penalizing the rich for committing a finable offence. Furthermore you are penalizing them to the same degree of inconvenience that a poor person is penalized. Otherwise, the law applies much more harshly to a poor person than a rich person.
11
@ulabosha4583 "UK nation debt has been slowly decreasing and the pound is rising" - I don't know who told you we are decreasing our national debt, but that is the opposite of the truth. The government is currently increasing national debt in order to keep gas prices down, after having borrowed hundreds of billions for Covid and having reduced our tax revenue by about £40 billion/year because of Brexit. So, thanks to Brexit, the government has £40 billion less each year to pay our debts with/spend on the NHS/keep roads and public services running etc....
10
@ThePixey1000 " trust me.." - ROFL you talk like a UFO conspiracy site. I am betting you believe every anti-EU conspiracy theory on the internet.
10
@ThePixey1000 You seem to think I should listen to people more educated than myself. Well statistics shows that less well educated & older people voted to leave whereas more highly educated & younger people voted to stay. Worth thinking about.
10
He wasn't sacked for his dodgy tax dealing at all. That's fine, apparently. He was sacked for lying about it.
10
@jonsid6628 As long as the fish are happy who cares that the fishing industry is being destroyed by Brexit right?
10
Donald Trump is not going to stop damaging American democracy. He is going to continue this disinformation propaganda for the next 4 years.
10
Black Voices for a White Supremacist. Now I have seen it all.
10
We have not left the EU yet. So no. But we are on the brink of recession.
10
Boris isn't going to get a different deal and he knows it. There is no alternative to the backstop. We had 3 years to find one and nothing.
10
Translation: "Johnson is 'right man for the job' to deliver the NHS to American Big Business".
10
@wasteoftime2187 "imagine a billionaire getting a £1m speeding ticket" - That would deter him from speeding to a similar degree as everyone else. Which is a good thing.
10
@Billy2011C "...so what should they do?" - Take May's deal or Revoke Article 50. Those are the only sensible options Britain has. Throwing our toys out of the pram and trashing our economy out of spite is not the answer. We made the international agreements and treaties that put us in this place we should man up and live by our previous decisions.
10
@Irrelevantusername000 "The UKs issues have nothing to do with brexit." - Brexit is costing British business about £120 billion/year (Office of Budgetary Responsibility). That means the government is getting about £40 billion less in tax revenue. That means the government has to either increase taxes or cut back on paying our debts, the NHS, and generally keeping the lights on. YES there is an economic crisis caused by Covid and the Ukraine war. But the biggest factor is Brexit, haemorrhaging hundreds of billions from our economy every year.
9
We knew things would get worse because of the devastation left by the Tories.
9
@stoufer2000 So you literally don't have a single counterargument, just insults because you apparently don't really know what's going on.
9
They are fattening up the NHS to make it desirable when they come to sell it off to USA Big Business after their Donald Trump trade deal is finally signed in a few years time.
9
The slogan "Defund the Police" is a bit of a gift to detractors who can (and have) easily misrepresent it. The very fact that people have to explain what it means tells me it is a bad slogan that does not convey its message. Maybe find a better slogan? "Rebalance the Police"? Something that is harder to twist.
9
@ThePixey1000 Italy have announced they have no intention of leaving the EU. Probably because they are watching Britain destroying its economy. When everyone sees how bad Brexit is for Britain they won't be stupid enough to go down the same mindless route. Fascists, like UKIP and the Brexit Party, can manipulate weak minds using racism and nationalistic flag waving to trick some of the population but never all of the population. Britain will be begging to get back into the EU in a few years and maybe in 20 years time they might just allow us back in. If we are lucky.
9
Hardly anything you wrote is true. We did this to ourselves. Brexit was amazingly stupid and the only way the government can hide the disaster Brexit has caused is by blaming the EU for everything with lies and propaganda. We told you Brexit would be a disaster. It is not the EU harming the UK, it is Brexit harming the UK. You have been reading too many Tory papers.
9
That is exactly what they are doing. Starmer is using frozen Russian assets to pay for Ukrain's security going forward.
9
It is not a bargain when they already pay for the NHS through their taxes. They should not be charged twice.
9
"not allowed to get married" - Really? How do they stop you?
9
@JW-YT "do you think an independent Scotland would have any trade deals when it first establishes itself?" - It only needs one. It only needs a fully comprehensive FTA with the EU. That gives Scotland access to hundreds of FTA arrangements throughout the globe - exactly the same as it enjoys now. The only thing missing will be that it won't have a seat at the table of power but then it never did with the UK so it is not missing anything.
9
@Ford Prefect "the UK will continue to trade with the world" - Yes but it will be at least 10% more expensive to buy and sell. That's the best case scenario. In addition to that we will obviously loose customers at one end (because more expensive products) and suppliers at the other end (because more expensive supplies). We will get f*c*d at both ends.
9
@Fhjthnl Lol Iuyo The EU have already negotiated extensively. But Boris is asking them for something he knows they can not agree to. So his fake "negotiations" are disingenuous and he is only doing this to make the EU look bad so the country does not blame him for the chaos that his no-deal will bring.
9
With no evidence whatsoever to back that theory up.
8
@daftwod It is not the sentiment because we all agree that all lives do matter. It is the fact that it is being used by racists to attack the "Black Lives Matter" slogan. THAT is what is racist about it. White lives are NOT being racially abused (in the UK) which is why the slogan "White Lives Matter" is irrelevant - nobody is acting like white lives don't matter. But people ARE acting like black lives don't matter so it is necessary to remind people that black lives matter just as much as every other life. But I know trying to explain this to racist like you is a waste of time. You want to attack the anti-racist movement because you like being a racist.
8
BTW, many wards are empty because after 15 years of Tory rule the NHS is so underfunded and understaffed that they simply don't have enough nurses to service all the Covid-19 patients in addition to keeping other wards open. So many wards are closed.
8
There are a LOT of bots in here spreading Trumps lies and disinformation. They need to put Trump in jail where he belongs as soon as possible. If not sooner.
8
You're right and all the scientists are wrong. And your town proves it. If only the scientists would go to your town to measure its temperature.
8
@ThePixey1000 I did not call you racist. I said racism was a TACTIC used by UKIP and the Brexit Party. Like it or not Britain has racists and they are accustomed to operating undercover in the grass roots as agitators and manipulators. They know they can't be obvious. But by engaging with the racist groups in the UK the Leave campaign mobilized an army of people willing to spread anti EU propaganda because they were told that if we could get rid of the EU we can start kicking foreigners out of the UK. I am not saying people who voted to leave are racist, but that racist groups were mobilized into working for UKIP (and the leave campaign) by the xenophobic rhetoric and through direct links through UKIP.
8
Labour still trying to sit on the non-existent fence.
8
@markasbury1084 " just read it all and you're wrong." - We'll see. Just see what happens over the coming years as the chronic shortage of workers works it's effects through the economy. Economies are large and slow moving but you can't avoid the laws of economics in the end.
8
Revoke Article 50. We tried Brexit, it is simply not possible. Admit it and move on rather than destroy the UK and its economy.
